No one ever talks about Brendon being on 7 Minutes in Heaven and I was convinced people just couldn't tell the difference between their voices. great video!

I will say as far as you talking about Patrick’s control over the album: there’s an interesting contradiction in how they talk about the creative process of Folie, because it is absolutely true that they’ve spoken to Patrick being very focused and having a very clear idea of how he wanted everything to sound, to the point of exclusion, but if I’m remembering correctly, Folie also included Joe a lot more in the writing process. People can correct me if I’m wrong but sometime prior to Folie Joe had gone to Patrick speaking to how he felt left out of the creative process, and so they collaborated a lot more in the creation of Folie, which is a part of why it is so sonically distinct from the others. Part of my interest in Folie as an album is that you have songs like I don’t care which were written entirely out of spite a few tracks away from what a catch, which feels so heartfelt from everyone involved, where Pete is writing from Patrick’s perspective and Patrick clearly put a lot of emotion and care into scoring that empathy. The story surrounding Folie has shifted over time but I think all of the ways they talk about it has an element of truth because there was tension but also attempts to bridge gaps that had been growing the years prior, there’s anger and sadness, and this is true of what we know going on around the creation of the album, but also in the music itself. There’s a lot of push and pull from emotions and truths that shouldn’t really fit together, but manage coexist in the same span of time. More than some of their other albums, it feels layered and complicated and messy but so vulnerable and real, and knowledge of the background of the making of it and the perspective hindsight gives builds on that because we have a better ideas of what went into making the music, so in some ways we can get more out of it.

Cool to hear you talk about Flyleaf. I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole with them earlier this year as well. I watched some of their recent live videos like their Sick New World performance since they're doing some reunion shows with Lacey Sturm now. I like their first 3 albums too, though the first is the one I listen to the most, with I'm So Sick, Red Sam, and Fully Alive being some of my favorite songs of theirs. Interesting to find they also made a cover of What's This? from The Nightmare Before Christmas for a covers album in 2008 called Nightmare Revisited (which includes covers from All American Rejects, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Rise Against, Plain White T's, and Amy Lee from Evanescence, quite the wild lineup).

Everytime somebody else sing on FOB songs,it always sound like Patrick, even Lil' Wayne(on song Tiffany Blews ).I guess it's because you don't expect somebody else but Patrick to sing on FOB song.I'm on Taylor Swift rabbit hole. And there long history of FOB x Taylor Swift.Pete and taylor in Band Hero commercial,Taylors' cover of Sugar We're Going Down on her Speak Now tour.FOB and Taylor live performance of ''My songs...'' on Victoria secret Fashion Show in 2013,same year Taylor and Patrick sing ''My songs...'' on her Red tour.On Speak Now(Taylor's version) she has song Electric Touch that featured Fall Oit Boy.There some other stuff i didn't mention about FOB x Taylor.Taylor and Hayley Williams from Paramore are frends for other 10 years(Hayley in Bad Blood MV,on song Castles Crumbling).Over the years i listened o lot of singers\bands.My first favorite band is Skillet(i was fan since 2011,i was 13 years old),Avril Lavigne fan( i'm still her fan, became her fan in 2013,but first heard her songs in 2006,than i was 8).I was Foo Fighters fan since 2018(listened them and watched their live performances(and other videos) whole 2018 and first half of 2019).Started to be really into FOB since july of 2021(since 2012 or 2013 listened some of their pre-hiatus songs, most of them are their hit songs, didn't heard their post-hiatus songs until 2021,in 2012 heard Patricks Soul Punk album, but don't got into it and forgot that i heard that album until started getting into FOB,heard Soul Punk again and now i love this album).Into Taylor Swift songs got into 2021,heard some of her old songs like You Belong With Me in 2013(i think first song i heard from her is I Knew You Were Trouble, really started getting into her music because of rerecording of her first 6 album). So yeah,i currently into FOB and Taylor Swift. My favorite FOB albums is Infinity On High,Folie a Deux, Save Rock and Roll,Mania and So Much (For) Stardust.I love their other albums, but this 5 album i love the most.

Relate to "suddenly into this band" hole, I started listening to The Academy Is after only being vaguely aware of their existence for most of my FBR phase (I was aware of William's existence because of Snakes on a Plane and the Sixteen Candles video but. . .) and now I'm obsessed. I happened upon the video of him and Gabe on stage at When We Were Young and it awakened something in me. 🤣

I’m sooo happy to hear someone rave even a bit for Flyleaf!! Lots of bands have had fan renaissances but truly no one talks about how good Flyleaf is. It’s also so much fun repping a band that is very proudly christian (while i am very not christian), and to mention their lyrics are also so clearly religious and focused around it lol

I agree with you and I love all three Lacey Flyleaf albums. I actually would say their second album is their best even if their first album has the more iconic hits. I think the second album has the best vocal melodies. Lacey's best song to me will always be 'Break You're Knees' followed by a lot of their pre-Flyleaf songs which are all also great such as 'Supernatural.'

I gotta argue with you about the vibrato thing, I sing and my vibrato is as crazy as Brendon's because of singing FOB songs (i.e. carpal tunnel of love, the chorus very much is a vocal technique that lends itself to having a plosive vibrato which is a very FAST up and down sound to the vocals at the end of notes). I don't think he can help it!! He is able to hold out solid notes, but with certain ways of singing at specific times, it's hard to mute it bc it's not on purpose. But great video, I love watching Brendon go PPPPERManent.

I don't know why you're hung up about what Pete said lol. He said ppl can't tell them apart. Because they sound the same! It's like Stumps guest vocal on The Hush Sound's Don't Wake Me Up. He sounds similar to Bob Morris, and Brendon Urie even did that vocal live during a show once. It's nothing to do with a vocal double.
