That late ‘00s/early ‘10s music scene will always hold a special place for me. This was when I was, surely, getting into music I liked and not picked out by my parents (even if most music that my parents gave me was still cool to listen to!). Anytime I hear one of the songs or a snippet of one, a wave of nostalgia just cascades through. So many catchy tunes that stuck with you!

Wow. The 2000s man. What an incredible time to be a teenager and a young adult back then. Great movies, music. Shit was really dope. 2009 was the first time I went to Warped Tour, that was crazy.

2008 was dark, personally. In the spring I was listening to Copeland, around May I got my best friend into “Such Great Heights” by the Postal Service and then in fall I was getting into Hole (which she’d introduced me with). It definitely wasn’t what you’d expect for me. Lots of indie stuff like Bright Eyes too

I was in my early 20s . It was such a transitional year for me I started to go to more shows than I had ever went before , metal was also popping off at this time not just scene music , death metal made a comeback , death core became a thing all the Myspace death core bands ...... Thrash mad a resurgence so much so the big 4 tour ended up happening a year later . Also Myspace last good year then in 2010 Facebook took over and never looked back it was a crazy year for me and for my personal growth can't believe it was 15 years ago ........

Throwback to eight year old me jamming to almost all of these songs on my old iPod Nano and iPod Classic. Long before I had an iPad to listen to music on, anytime a road trip or a vacation came along, I had these two things to accompany myself with, and man, was I jamming out! That time period was special for mainstream music! Very flavorful! I miss the days when you heard a song for the first time on the radio and fell in love with the catchiness.

I remember the music videos for Tell Me Something I Don't Know and Naturally from Selena's Kiss and Tell album being played a ton during the Radio Disney segments of commercial breaks on Disney Channel. I only listened to the full album recently, and I was kinda digging the pop-rock sound she had when she was with "The Scene". I wonder if giving her band that name was a reference to scene/emo culture at the time, since she said in an old video on her youtube channel titled "ep 4 band tryouts" that she wanted to make a band instead of being a solo pop star because she loved bands like Forever the Sickest Kids, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and Flyleaf. There's also a video where she hangs out with Forever the Sickest Kids for a day and sings She's a Lady with them as well as a "making of" video for a remix of Whoa Oh featuring her on guest vocals.

2009 was huge for scene music. You had albums like Stand Up and Scream by Asking Alexandria, Homesick by A Day To Remember, With Roots Above and Branches Below by The Devil Wears Prada, To Plant A Seed by We Came As Romans, and a lot more.

I know it's probably not "pop culture" but the iconic 2009 song to me will always be Knives and Pens by Black Veil Brides. I'm the same age as you but I didn't know the majority of the songs on your list outside of Bieber, Gaga and Owl City.

Looking back on 2009 was a blur for me. I was sad that Fall Out Boy being the only rock I liked was starting to trail off behind the current trends. Just remember hearing the same songs from one republic, black eyed peas, taio Cruz and lady Gaga

Wondering if you ever heard some of the popular hits at the time from Boston local, Sammy Adams. He sort of made his own version of “I love College”, called “I hate college”, and had a few other hits around 2010-2012. Was in that vein of frat guy college stuff lol
