I went to Cobra's very first headlining show way back in the day at Chain Reaction in Anaheim CA, I got my very first parking ticket at that show...it was worth it. I loved Midtown back then (still do). saw them live last year when they did a few shows and they are still great...glad you did a little bit of their history too

I saw Cobra on their very first tour with A Static Lullaby because I was (and still am) a huge Midtown fan. The show was in Buffalo and there were maybe 20 people watching.. then they blew up lol

3rd Midtown album absolutely slaps. Cool note about them is Heath their guitarist was actually a huge part of the best era of Senses Fail. Buddy himself has noted how much he elevated their sound in multiple interviews

What I love, is I would get classified as an “elder emo” now but I love how your musical taste shows how utterly adjacent the scene is (metal, hardcore, punk, emo, Jonny Craig, etc.) but most importantly that your referenced Daryl Palumbo. Glassjaw is my all time fav band and I was a huge Head Automatica fan and what’s weird is I think on his “Vision Quest”, he knew that DP had just released two successful records after glassjaw and loved that sound (Decadence and Popaganda) and knew what he was doing. I like that Daryl didn’t think he was ripping him off. Anyway, kudos, dude. Another banger!!!

Not sure if you found this in your research but I've always wondered: was the band name inspired by the snakes on a plane opportunity (cobra=snake, starship=aircraft) or was it just a crazy coincidence? I was a big Midtown fan in the early 00's so as soon as rumblings of Cobra started I was in. Bought When The City Sleeps the day it came out. I still think it has their best songs (The Kids Are All Fucked Up, Keep It Simple, Diamond Girl...) Saw Cobra open up for tons of bands back in 06/07, basically all the tours you mention (including that 30 Seconds To Mars tour, which happened in a gymnasium 😂). Really good stuff Cozy!!! Btw have you picked up the book Where Are Your Boys Tonight? It chronicles the whole emo explosion from the late 90s through the 00s. Great stuff
