What’s even crazier about this movie is that it’s one of the very “bad” movies that gets better with age. Is rocky 4 silly? Campy? Stupid? Yes! But we love it for that! The special effects are great! Awesome montages! Memorable lines! The actors are clearly giving it all they got so every scene is full of nonstop energy. And the sequel, which is outta place, ends up being one of the most consequential stories within the franchise-something that dosnt happen with other franchises

Though she got very little screen time, Apollo's wife and her reactions during the fight really cranked up the drama. We can imagine that she knows better than anyone how much he can take, and her plea to stop the fight is really gut wrenching, just like Apollo's trainer with tears in his eyes.

Fun Movie Trivia: The robot was included in the movie because Stallone saw it at a party. It was created by International Robotics Inc. It later toured with James Brown, who sings at Apollo's fight. During filming of the final fight, Stallone told Dolph Lundgren to punch him for real to make it more intense, Dolph punched Stallone so hard in the chest, his heart got slammed against the breastbone and started swelling, Stallone spent 4 days in intensive care. The scenes in Russia were filmed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The fight in "Moscow, Russia" was filmed at the Agrodome in Vancouver, Canada. All the "Russians" in the crowd and the military members were all Canadian extras who probably didn't understand a word of what the Russian ring announcer was saying.

Mike Tyson once said, "Anybody can be confident until they get hit in the mouth". That's the reality of the fights. That also seems to be the constant theme of the Rocky series. Every fighter, no matter how confident, has an ounce of fear. That one punch could end it all. Or a career of punches can ruin a life. Which sadly was the fate of the Greatest Ali.

27:50 Those are chains wrapped around the tires to increase traction in the snow. Probably not very common in Colombia. Even in snowy countries like Russia, US and Canada they've become less common because they do damage to the tires. It's more cost effective to buy specialty snow tires than put chains on regular tires.

1 of 2 films for Stallone in 1985. Along with Rambo:First Blood part 2. The highest-grossing film of the franchise and considered the hardest film that he had ever worked as actor and filmmaker at that time. Also 1 of 2 films for Dolph Lundgren (Drago) in 1985. The other was a Bond film, "A View to a Kill" The inspiration was one of the greatest boxing rivalries ever, Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling. 2 matches (1936, 1938) took place between these two and was concurrent with WW2's rising. Louis was Black and American. Schmeling was German. The controversy of nations in conflict (Us against Them) was there as it was omnipotent in the mid-1980 (Cold War). The most unexpected story planned for the franchise. Stallone had a few different ideas for what he wanted to do. Overall in the outcome of Apollo Creed's character (his most regretful). There was an director's cut released in 2021. Some things were different while it remained the same movie. It is worth the viewing and you'll definitely be surprised. But other than that, this was a sign of the times for film and the culture. In fact, some say it was the closest to the feeling of seeing the Cold War's end (ironically). Rocky V is not liked as much as the others. But it does play a part in Balboa's growth, post-boxing.

Love this movie especially when I saw it in the theater when I was 10 It has a fantastic sound track. The small farm where Rocky lived and trained was in Jackson Hole Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park was used for filming many of the outdoor sequences in the Soviet Union. For me the coolest thing is that the fight between Rocky and Drago was actually filmed in my home city of Vancouver BC at The PNE Agrodome It was transformed into a Russian arena, complete with Soviet trophy cases, actors playing soldiers many local extras dressed as Russians in the stands. Fun fact: Stallone was married to actress Brigitte Nielsen who played Drago's wife.

Thank you for posting this; I'm a huge Rocky fan...and I appreciate when the younger generation....I'm 52, but I look 30...go back and watch the Rocky movies, cuz this was all before the Creed franchise. These movies are so emotional and the parallel of the Rocky movies/boxing and life are amazing. While boxing is a violent and dangerous contact sport, it is also beautiful, because its not just aimlessly punching and and hoping a good shot lands or looking for a knockout. The sport encompasses, speed, timing, distance, strategy, heart, and is actually more mental than it is physical. And what I love about the sport now-a-days is that the female pugilist are getting the recognition, just due, and paydays, they deserve. Anyway, I love your reactions, and your cute accent. Hopefully, I did offend you regarding your accent. Si, te ofendi, por favor que me perdones, no fue intencional. I implore you to watch this fight, which was a highly anticipated fight that lived up to the hype...both of these ladies are/were amazing and represented womens boxing...and boxing in general and was a Fight of the Year candidate. It was held in New York, at the legendary Madison Square Garden, Serrano (Puerto Rican0 and Taylor (Irish) both had their fans which made the arena so electric. "Drah-go", as in "dragon". The ancient traditions of dragons: Meaning "One who sees". The elite. Modern Moscow is built on ancient Templar sites. Rocky is partly about Masonry. His brother Frank is a Brother. Their mother is a mystic. Always is the ring the colors of alchemy and the lodge: Black, White, Red, Gold, the colors of transformation. (love your Pineal at 44:27) And, as in all movies, Rocky is Jesus/Abiff, hence, his conquering the dragon, the beast, on Christmas. It's amazing how much Stallone layered into these movies beyond the exoteric romance and inspiration, great as they are in and of themselves, but there is also a great layer of esoteric, as well.

The other Soviet leader is probsbly Schevernadze, a close ally of Gorbachev, or a younger, more intimidating Gromyko, who had recommended Gorbachev's ascension to leadership.

The trainer yells for Rocky to throw in the towel, but the referee had already tried unsuccessfully to stop the fight. So throwing in the towel wouldn't have helped.

before any fight scenes Stalone ask Dolph to actually punch him to see how strong he was. It put stalone in the hospital for 2 weeks. also Dolph has masters in chemical enginering from MIT. He did the acting thing for a pay check.

Yeah, the death of Apollo in this is especially devastating. I cry every time. But I love the fact that now, having seen Creed, we can probably deduce that Apollo was going through some kind of personal crisis at the time of this fight. You know, having an affair and even a child with another woman. He was probably very stressed out and maybe, just maybe, he actually wanted to die right there. We know what a man of honor he was. And maybe he just didn't wanna live like that anymore. Now, I personally refuse that this was actually the case, but it's totally a possibility. At least Apollo must have had thoughts like that during this movie. During this fight.... right?

11:34 "Stand by my side this one last time." Now I think it would've been appropriate for Rocky to deliver sage advice along _these_ lines: "Alright, Apollo. You want my support, this is what you've got to do. "You've been retired for five years. That means it's been five years since you underwent any hard, specialized training. Your skills may be well sustained by _experience,_ but they've got to be _fresh_ if you want to have a chance against _this_ guy. "Where _you_ were, _once,_ with the US, _this_ guy is with the Soviet Union. I mean _look_ at him. Look how tall he is. Look how muscular. Look at the _reach_ he has. "And look at how _hard_ he hits. One of those punches connects with your _head_ or your _abdomen_ and your insides are gonna turn to _mush._ "This killer instinct you were just talking about? He's got it, too. Recognize that. Account for that. "Train, Apollo. Train hard. Don't just train to _deliver_ a punch. Train to _take_ a punch; a _hard_ punch. Develop and undergo a hard, specialized regimen for _everything_ he's got, just like _I_ once did with you, or you _won't_ stand a chance."

15:50 "Be back in a _minute,_ all right?" Apollo and his damn hubris. 🤦 See _that's_ the reason Rocky went the _distance_ with him in the first _Rocky_ movie. Apollo had _hubris._ Rocky _didn't._

Fun fact: In real life Dolph Lundgren (Ivan Drago) is in MENSA, as he has an IQ of 160, which places him in the top 0.1 percent of the world's population. This places his name with the most notable neurosurgeons, scientists, and college teachers who have an IQ of more than 140. Dolph Lundgren also has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney. 😮

27:46 "What the heck? Look at the wheel. What is _that?"_ That is what it looks like when a _sedan_ tries to pretend it's an SUV. Seriously, look around at all this snow. This is rural Russia. These are SUV conditions. But what do you do if you don't _have_ an SUV and you have to make due under snowy conditions with a sedan? Well, you help the wheels grip by wrapping them in chains. Chains work _very_ well on snow and ice; _terribly_ on pavement. So if you have reason to believe that it's going to be a while before you see clear road conditions, wrap your tires in chains.
