“It’s not the chocolate that matters, it’s the people you share it with,” sort of encapsulates how I feel about watching reactors on KZbin! The movies I love are made so much better every time I see another human appreciate them like I did the first time I saw them. "I wonder how Wonka met the oompa loompas in the book?" Basically as depicted in the Johnny Depp version, Wonka met them while he traveled the world, offered them safety from the wild animals of their homeland, offered cocoa beans as payment (since that's what they desire) for working in the factory

I saw this for the first time with a friend of mine. She insisted it was good but of course i was just like "yea yea whatever". In truth, i was in a very dark place in my life because i had recently found to have a chemical imbalance problem which was affecting evety aspect of my life (and also precluded me from eating sweets so i was in hell). I was so depressed but one evening she just pestered me to come see it with her, she knew how much i loved musicals so eventually i just went fine. But i gotta tell u, not only was this movie amazing but it was exactly what i needed to lift my spirits overall. Its been a long time since a movie has made me feel that way and at this point in my life, i could not be more grateful❤❤❤

I felt so vindicated when people who were preemptively hating on this movie (before it even came out) ended up loving it after actually watching the movie. Paul King is a master at making films like this. The minute I knew he was involved I knew it was going to be good. The Paddington films were the same way - I don't think anyone predicted they were going to be THAT good but they are, especially the 2nd one. They're honestly worth reacting to imo
@PowerDiva2 ай бұрын
I feel the same way. Everyone hating on it but I knew Paul King would do it justice. I also knew Timothee Chalamet was a triple threat who can not only act, but also sing and dance too. Not everyone really knew that before Wonka, so they didn't have the context to understand how good he could be in this type of role. So I also feel vindicated for everyone who said I was nuts to think this was going to be a great film.

As a fan of the original film, I was a little hesitant to watch this so I waited until it was streamable. That was a mistake. I should’ve watched it in the theaters. Everyone did a spectacular job & it made me a fan of Timothée Chalamet. I also cried my eyes out at the end. One thing that upset me about the movie isn’t the movie, it’s the marketing FOR the movie. They should’ve said it was a musical. Also, at the theaters, they should’ve been offering Wonka Chocolate because those candy bars were my absolute favorite. They used to sell them at Toys-R-Us & I would visit there all the time just to get those candies. Also-also, they should’ve sold little Oompa Loompas of Hugh Grant. Like little Blind Bags of him, keychains, little statues, etc. The marketing really dropped the ball on this 🍫

This movie has been one of the best movies/shows I’ve seen in the last 5 years tbh. It was so good. It was majestic and beautiful. hot take but I kinda like how they hinted how crazy wonka might be, just with the choclate, getting mad people have never had it, daydreaming, and, getting ideas from the stuff he saw. also noticed the branding sign right next to wonka at the sharing chocalte scene . I kinda like this verison more becuase, it shows how you can reach your dreams through diffrent hardships togther, after being stuck for a long time and, after that you got your dream. I feel like not many movies now a days have these messages not sure why.

Thank you for being vulnerable in your reaction, it was a preacious moment. Couple of fun facts: the scene for a world of our own is actually made by real chocolate (I don't remember if all of the room or maybe only the tree, but I heard this a while ago and there's a bit of an interview with the chocolatier that made it), the "good day sir" of the oompa loompa after he hit Willy with the pan it's a reference to the Gene Wilder same line said to Charlie's grampa when he asked for the life supplies chocolate , the chocolate in which Willy and Noodle should've died was actually real chocolate and the scene where Willy is singing with the old man "a world of our own" going one step foward and one step back it's another reference to Gene's Wonka going up and down the first time he's showing the kids the room with all the chocolate.
