When people ask me on BGG for underrated card games they might not have heard about, this is my go-to. It helped us understand complex concepts of gaming at a very easy level. I heard about this game watching your channel, Rodney, and it was one of our firsts! Even though this is so simple, it was very, very challenging for me to wrap my mind around at the time, and I must have watched this video half a dozen times. Here's a toast (of smoothies, of course) to a channel that brings new folks into an amazing hobby!!!

There were some tricky things in this game that the rule book didn't quite cover. Might have been due to a translation issue, but so glad to know the video was helpful, and that you did enjoy the game!

1:17 - 1:24 From this moment on, all I could think about was the monkey and what secrets it must hold.

The monkey was probably the one that gave the one dislike to this video. :P

There are six animals provided, so you give one of the unchosen ones (as the monkey is needed in the game later on).

if there's still a tie, grab some fruit juice out of your fridge, and the tied players have a juice chugging contest to break the tie.

Ha! Good house rule :)
@themaster4086 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree to always make a tie breaker (unless it's really meant to be shared victory like Cosmic Encounter or team games) and make it as silly as possible within the theme.

It's like you and Gamenight! are conspiring to drown me in fun to play games. I want to argue, but I cannot, because you're doing such a good job of it.

Heh, well, as long as you're finding some fun picks in the process, I can be okay with this :)

Great video as always Rodney. This video also had me looking up the proper grammatical use for "fruit" and "fruits". Learning in so many ways.

What I like about it is that it's short enough that the games are over reasonably, but the running score mechanic makes it so that you feel like playing with the same group of people. That mixed with the evolving gameplay makes this a winner.

What a good guide how to play. Now I will out problem be able to teach the game to my girl friend. So if I understood it right when you will often have seven locations to choose from.
@WatchItPlayed7 жыл бұрын
That is right, you'll often have 7 locations to go to.

What combination would you recommend if you play for the first time with a new group?
@WatchItPlayed6 жыл бұрын
+Keindzjim From the beginning, using the setup like we show in the video.

It's like a Legacy game... without the disfiguring part. XD

No disfiguring here :) They officially all it "the fable system".

Do any of the animals that stack up(copy of the same location ) have different fruit costs (to acquire)?
@WatchItPlayed6 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so, but to be fair, I haven't gone through every card in the game, so it's possible that there are some that are different, but I don't believe that's the case.

2 down votes? How can you down vote someone teaching you a game in a detailed and methodical manner??
@WatchItPlayed6 жыл бұрын
Heheh, some people may just not care for the style of game, and so they express that by down voting the video itself. Or they may just not like me. Who knows :)

this seems like such a great family game! are there any particularly mean location cards as you play? that might diminish interest for my wife. on the other hand, I can totally go for the concept of this game to game progression, with things getting darker and meaner as you go. maybe not for the fruit theme, though!
@WatchItPlayed7 жыл бұрын
It's hard to assess 'mean'ness sometimes. There is a "bit" of interaction we've come across. For example, if I give you a fruit and you now have to give me 2 of your fruits, that could be considered mean if it ruins the hand you were working towards. We haven't worked through the whole deck yet either, so meaner things could await!

A few questions 1) once the market opens do you always replenish it, and when do you replenish it (e.g. do you replenish the market at the start of a new round?); if there are no fruits in the market do you purchase card #42 for free (it states the price of the card as “all fruits in the market”). Thanks.
@WatchItPlayed2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, I would love to be able to help you with this, but I no longer have my copy of this game, and I shot this long enough ago, that I don't recall that answer.

@@TheJaysvice I'd recommend checking the rules forum on Board Game Geek (and if the answer isn't there, posting your question might get an answer). boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/203427/fabled-fruit/forums/66

I have a question about the location deck. Does it HAVE to be in order? Lets say my group ran through the deck and then decided to start it up and play again. Could we completely shuffle the location deck and deal out 24 or would that not quite work right? I have seen a bunch of people talk about this game on twitter but this is the first time Ive looked into it myself and it looks very quirky and looks as if my family would love it. Great vid Rodney!
@WatchItPlayed7 жыл бұрын
Hey, glad you liked the video Kenneth. I am playing through the deck with my family currently, but am not all the way through yet. It "seems" you couldn't just shuffle the whole deck up - you'd want a bit of an order to it, but hard for me to know yet.
@thewynnersgameroom7 жыл бұрын
Watch It Played ok I understand. I assumed that it was probably the preferred way to play was in order. Plus if you get too many different cards table space and people who Have AP could be issues.

Card #17 Collect Fruits. If you don't have the fruit a player announced you have to reveal your cards. Do you have to reveal to everyone or just the player who asked for the fruit? How long do you have to reveal? Really quick or long enough for someone to memorize your cards?
@WatchItPlayed7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jamie, I don't have specific information on card effect related questions.
