I don't know how I could best describe this project. A restoration, a rebuild; perhaps something between these two would be more accurate, but I don't know how I should describe it. I would definitely like hear your thoughts, so please leave your comments below!
What I can say with certainty is that this project was a really challenging one. Follow me as I bring to life this beautiful little drill press. I hope you’ll enjoy it as I enjoyed it myself.
All the best
Dimitris

The story in short of how this drill press came to my possession
Seven year ago I was contacted by a watch repairer who was asked me to modify-improve a couple of tools he used for repairing watches.
Being satisfied with the work I had done already he brought me this watchmaker’s drill press and a high speed motor asking to give him a price for bringing this tool to a working state. In more particular, he asked for a base and a column with a plate to secure the motor for direct driving of the drill's spindle, the driving belt, a new and better in quality drill chuck with its arbor and a couple of fixes on the drilling head.
All of these would be mounted on an MDF board with the existing drill's huge steel base and a column made of steel pipe to support the drill with its original short column and a steel plate that was holding the original drilling table, things that he had already provide.
So he left it in my shop for been easier to me to estimate the work needed so to give him a price.
A week later I contacted him to give my very reasonable offer considering the work involved, he became mad upon hearing the price and he almost cursed me, but anyway.
My response was simple...sir, you can come and take it back; he never contact me nor came to take it back.
