@walruslatte60804 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It's not that crime fighting turns him on, it's that being Nite Owl gives him confidence. Still loved the Pitch Meeting though.
@Eidolon1andOnly4 жыл бұрын
Not really much of a difference. Seems like splitting hairs to me. The only time Dan Dreiburg becomes Nite Owl is when he's fighting crime, and inversely, the only time he is fighting crime is when he becomes Nite Owl, so saying that the only way he can get aroused is by fighting crime is essentially no different from saying the only way he can get aroused is by becoming Nite Owl.

The movie's ending was, in my opinion, better than the graphic novel's. Dr Manhatten was the existential threat equivalent of nuclear war and what with America being the only country that has used such weapons against a civilian population it actually rings true especially seeing as Dr Manhatten was an "american weapon". The squid monster thing was a bit silly and it also required the E-plot of all the filmmakers and special effects people being abducted from Hollywood which just made Ozymandius' plan less believable.

Pretty much this, sadly people have their heads way too deep up their asses when it comes to comic books nowadays, so they can't see the reason.
@gdeangelkick5 жыл бұрын
I liked the entire film except the ending. Not so much that Dr. Manhattan was the scape-goat. Although in retrospect it does bother me... as it seems that "the solution" is to solve an equilibrium problem whereby the USA has too much power and influence. But I accepted it because the film does a nice job of building up Dr. Manhattan's character shortcomings so that it would be totally credible if the threat was Dr. Manhattan himself at some point deciding to just end the world and remake humans in his image. The giant ugly monster has it's own problems, however, as it is just the typical print edition of the sky-beam.
@Carabas725 жыл бұрын
They could have not done the squid alien, and still have an ending that makes sense instead of multiple major metropolises around the world being glassed by an American superweapon bringing world peace.

Me, for 14 years: The movie’s attack makes so much more sense; the giant squid monster was too goofy and came completely out of nowhere, both tonally and plot-wise, even in a graphic novel medium. Plus, Adrian had to distract/divert Dr. Manhattan from what he was doing anyway, and he is a threat that’s already here on Earth & established in the story, as well as already needing to leave Earth at the end anyway. This way kills two birds with one stone & just makes so much more sense. Ryan, in 12 seconds: Dr. Manhattan is constantly established as American & therefore not a neutral threat, so all the world’s nations wouldn’t come together *with* America afterwards. Me: …….. ……. …. OH, GODDAMMIT RYAN!!!!!
