The first scene you put in the video is the BIGGEST spoiler. I didn't even click on the video, it auto played as a scrolled over it and it played on it own. Seeing the faces is enough to work out the spoiler. Thanks alot morons. What's the point in spoiler warnings if the very first second of the video is him saying "brother" and KZbin auto plays the graphics of a video on people's feed. Complete and utter idiots.

I don't agree with you. He was not innocent at all. First of all, Ali was an illegal in Korea, including wife and kid. He stole the money from his boss who died. Second, even after he got the money, he went to back to the game for more money. Sang Woo knew Ali was an illegal from the beginning, but he genuinely helped Ali to get home, rather than call the police. Sang Woo would never expect to see Ali again until Ali came to see Sang Woo. Ali saw Sang Woo's generosity and usefulness for himself , but Sang Woo was smart enough to know what Ali's intention was. Therefore, Ali was a greedy human being as much as Sang Woo.
@ajheartsong
@ajheartsong 3 жыл бұрын
@@kani37seo64 his boss refused to pay them for several months so who’s the real villain? Also he saved Gi-hun, a stranger who he could’ve let die during red light green light. While sang woo didn’t want to be an ally to the old or to women, Ali showed respect and concern for the old man and kept calling him “sir”. I might’ve missed the part where he was an illegal immigrant, but even if he was, he was just trying to survive. While Sang woo acted in self interest the whole game, Ali actually cared about other ppl.
@kani37seo64
@kani37seo64 3 жыл бұрын
@@ajheartsong He went to Korea to earn money illegally. That was wrong doing in the first place. It is illegal for any company to hire illegal workers. Probably it was an unstable small business company that cannot make profit enough to pay the employees. Even so, Ali caused his boss's death while stealing the money. If Ali had been with a legal working visa, it wouldn't had happened. May point is that Ali was a greedy person as much as others. All the time he was in Korea until he died, none of Koean call the police to put him in the jail!

I like how many deaths are foreshadowed in earlier scenes 1) Ali stole money from his boss, he died having the marbles stolen from him by Sang-woo 2) Sang-woo tried to kill himself in a baththub, he died in drenched in rain 3) Sae-byeok threatened the guy with her knife pressed against his neck, she died being stab in the neck on the same spot 4) Gangster Deok-su escaped jumping into the water off a bridge, he died falling to his death in the glass bridge

Yeah and at the end it made so much sense why he did that. He might be a sociopath, but he didn’t want the players to feel like they were forced into playing a game that costed them their life, so he let them go and re-invited them to play after knowing the stakes. They all came back and were willing to play and sacrifice their morality and souls for about $37 million lol. It’s shocking that he knew that they would all come back to playing in the death Olympics after giving them an out.
@michaelnguyen8121

@@lolsmileyface1057 At first I thought like you but upon reflecting further I realized that he was betting with the players at the time just as he did when he bet with Gi Hun at the end about the drunken man in the snow. He is a gambler just like Gi Hun, that is why they both get along so well, he saw a younger him in Gi Hun. They are both obsessive gambler, the difference is that he believed ultimately that human are selfish while Gi Hun believed that human can be benevolence. He know from experience that most of these players will come back given that in the real world it was worst and it is "hell" for many of them. It was such a good writing and storytelling. This show is so deep with small nuance details that you might missed when you watch it for the first time.

This show uncovers so much about peoples ties to money. When so many focus on trying to work and pay debts they forget about the most priceless thing of all, time. It’s something no one can get more of so you truly have to cherish every second you get. Ali's elimination has to be the worse one. You can't even trust people that have helped you once before (if you remember after they went back into the real world the same guy that stole his marbles was the one that gave him bus fair to go back home).

I love that each character died in such diferent ways in that episode but all was caused by friendship. Ali trusted too much in Sang Woo and was betrayed, the 240 girl sacrificed herself for 067 after getting to know her better and realizing that she has no purpose in life and the old man supposedly acted naive so he could save the protagonist in the end. It was a really touching episode :(

Seeing Ali get betrayed was easily the most upsetting thing in the entire series. He was always out of place(both literally and metaphorically), but still allowed himself to trust and care about his team. The north Korean chick being called a beacon of light and goodness in the games is a laugh when compared Ali... But that undying trust is what got him killed eventually

During the Marble Game, in the conversation between Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong, the latter mentions a movie in which the actor Lee Byung-Hun stars. Lee Byung-Hun is the one who plays the Front Man / Hwang In-Ho. I really liked this. It felt like a mix of foreshadowing and breaking of the fourth wall.

I feel the reveal of the Front Man should have been higher on the list. It wasn't only the fact that the Front Man turned out to be the detective's brother, but also the fact that the actor who is playing it is Lee Byung Hun. He is one of Korea's greatest actor and has been in handful of hollywood movies like The Magnificent Seven which also stars Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. If we go back to the games again, it won’t have that shock value. I wish they just ended it on season 1 and have the main guy take that flight to see his daughter. Deep down, I hope season 2 is good because it’s happening rather we want it or not. You know, speaking of actually caring about characters in a series that started as a commentary on greed, my most shocking moment is that Ji-Yeong is the person I felt the most proud of. And I gotta tell you, that's against some stiff competition with two of the final three survivors making a pact to give each others' families a home. Ji was the one who let one of them get that far, after all. I cannot begin to tell you... Ahh, to begin with, it's been a while since I let tears fall from my eyes. I came close a few times before, but watching Ji-Yeong's backstory, I didn't even dry my face for a while after that. Like she said, she has NO family to go back to, no one to support. Because she killed her father, but I don't blame her at all for doing so; that fucker had it coming for killing his wife. If she got the money, she'd only have herself to use it for. And with the kind of person she was, she'd probably feel ashamed of doing so. That's why she encouraged Sae to win, glad that she could make some sort of good difference in the world. It was all the more satisfying when number 1 quit the game too so that another good boy would go on to eventually meet Sae's sibling and his friend's mother, the very people they were trying to support in the first place.

Bro don't worry, this thing is way bigger than anything Netflix have ever done. This will probably have 5 seasons just like Money Heist. Squid Game is going to rule Netflix for years to come. Good thing is that Korean directors are known to bring their A game in the sequels (Kingdom Season 2 for example) and since this is a big deal to South Korea's national pride there is going to be a lot of pressure as well as help for him and his team to even make it better than the first season.

@@michaelnguyen8121 exactly. Money = sequels. They can't just leave it on the table when it's a guaranteed ton of money. If they can predict that it's gonna keep making money, they gonna keep making sequels

@@meow-vk7uq Trust me bro I know how these Korean director think since I have been watching Korean films and Kdrama for exactly 20 years this year. lol. As much as fame and fortune bring to the table with Squid Game being a worldwide hit, the director won't be satisficed because as good as a director he is, he is still not consider by the critic as the top five director in Korea and that will be the motivation for him to do well with the sequel.

Even after all he did, I still love old man. His character touched my heart in a powerful way. He was proof that a person's spirit outweighs their physical strength. Although he could be perceived as a villain in the show, I still could never get myself to hate him.

I took it hard when the mom died. All I’m gonna say is that I’ve come close to losing my mom so my times in the short time I’ve been on this planet that I’m constantly making sure she is ok and that she knows she is loved. But I do that for all my family anyway.

This show is phenomenal. I have not loved a Kdrama this much since Goblin. It kills me that the Emmy’s will probably ignore this show for all of the awards, especially in the acting category. All of the leads are fantastic.

Shocking moment - all games were already on the wall with drawing from the start, just hiding behind beds There was a hint where police was looking at candidate list, number started from 002, so we know 001 was not in candidate in normal condition When everyone was fighing and killing each others around beds, it finished when 001 screamed loud to stop. Director mentioned there will be no season 2

Most painful moments were when Ali was tricked by Sang woo, when Ji yeong sacrificed herself so sae byeok had a chance and, when sang woo killed sae byeok. All these moments were so painful and heartbreaking 💔. Now if I had to choose the most shocking it would be that IL nam was alive in the end. I didn't expect that at all I thought he had been killed.

I don't really see why, he was old already so it not like he had much time left in life in general vs the 100s of other young participants. Also since he said he had a tumor in his head, you can easily just see it as his last little bit of fun before he's garenteed end.

MY OPINION: I think probably the most shocking moment is how he didn't get on a plane to America in the final episode. Before getting on the plane to California to see his daughter, he threatens the the game's staff but tells him to just get on the plane since it's none of his business anymore. That made him and me think it could've been a trap. He didn't hesitate to turn back as the episode turned black and left me speechless...
