Can’t believe that Dulux made this video and it quite clearly shows paint on a door handle.

Never had a water based paint yet that ive been happy with

You in the trade, because I'm only a DIY doughnut and yes water based takes a bit more work, synthetic brush, and don't over brush, not to much on the brush and one sweep of paint and leave. don't go back over, if you have keyed it a little it takes to the surface perfectly, dries quickly.

A bit sloppy with the transfer to the kettle and painting a door with the handle still on?

Well man... quick question I've made wall panelling for my room and I want to paint the panelling with jamie blue water based satinwood..now I want to paint the wall behind and above the same colour but I got a can mixed with the right code into a washable matt and the colour looks nothing like it... so I'm wondering what's the worst that could happen if I use the satinwood directly onto the walls as well??? And if I decide to paint the walls again in a few years what am I setting myself up for down the road... thankd

Make sure with water based glosses are stirred throughly as it needs a load of stirring otherwise it looks like milkey liquid

Hello mate like the vid and paint. Been using quick drying paint for ages but can I ask why is it better to use synthetic brush. I’ve been using natural hair.
@joemak1006 жыл бұрын
Synthetic bristles will not become weakened when exposed to water in waterbased paints. Which means little or no bristle loss.Also synthetic bristles can be manufactured much finer leaving less brush marks in waterbased finishes.

Do you dip the brush in the paint?
@tombristowe8462 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking , that does help push the job on.

Didn't really inform at all, there are much better advice on water based elsewhere on youtube.

Better to take the door off to paint it, I always do. Cannot believe you use a little brush like that to paint a door, but hey ho horses for courses.

Useless job! They did not remove door handle! That's why do everything yourself!

Water gloss is rubbish and god quick dry gloss really? its bad enough as it is in how it dries so fast

Just don’t use the shite end off oil based all the way !
@2010gtoner5 жыл бұрын
yeap, I suppose you have to compromise. do you want a high shine, then oil if you don't mind it yellowing or water base as you know will stay white but does not look as good a finish as an oil-based gloss product?
@inthemix30133 жыл бұрын
@@2010gtoner honestly don't mind a slightly less shine finish. Like mentioned it stays white drys quick and best of all doesn't stink the gaff out and kill the kids

@@inthemix3013 true Gary lol.., painting houses 30 odd years you can only imagine the solvents I've been exposed to.lolll
Indeed don`t waste your money on this. Your meticulously prepared surface will end up as a scabby mess to be rectified once the gloss is applied

You can't call your self a decorator using any waterbase paint, impossible to get a perfect finish. Can't sand inbetween coats brush mark city prep important to a professional, standards haue dropped across the board young guy's haue no chance to learn properly these days. Most the workmanship now is òf very poor standards.

Try Johnstone’s Aqua gloss (water gloss) it’s brilliant stuff used it for a few years now... easily get 2 coats on in a day plus the finish is excellent just like a good oil gloss... trick with water based is wet your brush first.. then give it rinse off every day 20-30 mins to keep it from clogging up with drying paint... 👍 but I would 100% recommend this...
