A short video from our chase boat showing the Dual Sync Boat running the Ridge and doing a totally off throttle stop in deep water. The variable transom worked perfect with just a small splash over the back.

Smart engineering! The fans are kept low for a better center of gravity thus increasing thrust and handling characteristics!! The retractable transom door looks like a liability issue!

Raising the props 18 inches would negate the need for a mechanical transom. But damn interesting. Who makes it?
@asherdie3 жыл бұрын
It would also make it harder to go under low clearance bridges.

Dear Sirs Congratulation for this nice system. May I have 3 questions please ? - The propellers seems to be on the same plan. They have a contrarotative rotation. Are the blades engaging together ? - Have you a gearbox to obtain the contrarotative rotation ? With final drive by belt ? - I search since a long time this music titlle, can you tell it to us ? Waiting for your answers. Daniel (France)

Daniel, the song is Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf. Typically, airboats have one propeller, and it is common these days to have a gear reduction unit reducing the RPMs of the engine, because, more airboats are being powered by automotive engines, which produce power at a higher RPM, which is not best for a propeller. Airboats with aircraft engines do not need gear reducers as they are designed to produce horsepower at the correct RPM for the propeller. I would bet the reduction box on this boat was custom made. They typically use a cogged belt drive system to link crankshaft to prop. I don't know how they get the reverse rotation on the props. Possibly an extra cogged belt? Here is a good look at the gear reduction drive kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXOppZR9r7qIi7s

A Sevtec Vanguard hovercraft would easily handle everything I saw in the video with one less joy riders, on only 16 to 20hp, not the automotive engine used here. Those high advance ratio props sure look nice, but one would suspect they would cost more than a whole Vanguard construction kit.

The skirts on a hovercraft would last about 5 minutes running through sawgrass
@sevtecsev3 жыл бұрын
@@rogermccaslin5963 I too was surprised that the skirts did last well in the Everglades as I have lots of experience in the swamp when I lived in the Miami area. Now, those Elkhorn corral remnants in the Everglades that were hiding in the sawgrass really did give the craft hull a thumping!

But the Airboat looks good. The SevTec is just plain ugly......but effective in the right environment. Think hover maintainance is far higher though.
