Dupes need 2.5 blocks of sleep with the cot to get fully rested. If you have comfy beds you can cut that down to 2 and be fine.

I usually do my scheduels with 8 hour work, 2 hour rest, 8 hour work, 2 hour rest, 3 hour sleep and then 1 hour bathtime. But that's probably because I never play on "normal" settings these days, so I need my dupes to eat mid-cycle incase I need to do a red-alert aswell as It helps with bladder's and for people who might miss meals. Not to mention the most important; Less risk of outhouses being in need of emptying, since there's a high possibility to fill it up during mid-cycle breaks instead of during the final hours before sleep. I've also grown addicted to Early-birds and Night-Owl's since dupes with these traits make perfect early morning / late night dupes to help keep life-support running etc. Having the extra stats for a few hours also helps quite a bit. I used to be all in for the diver's lungs dupes but I've never really had any issues with Oxygen... for me It has always been food who ends up being the issue. I then offset most my Scheduels by one hour and try to have a maximum of three dupes on two toilets. I also try to make sure there's one what I whould call "Janitor"(Having Tidying and Supplier as main duties) always on-duty, that way most my machines and life support systems are stocked up. It's also fairly nice that my builders may wake up from a night's sleep just to see that all the upcoming builds are already loaded up with materials. I whould probably be really careful about the slicksters, even if they survive they might start laying Longhair eggs(due to the cold) and those are more trouble then they are worth since they consume oxygen with no excretion. Ofcourse you may just eat the longhair eggs. Also... You should get some tempshift plates around those spaceheaters they will burn your plants. I'd suggest one plate on each side of them made out of gold amalgam then If necessary you could spread it further by using some Dirt plates. Alternatively you could add some automatisation and make sure they don't go above 30 degrees.

I recommend that when you use a heating system or cooling system is when you want to heat/cool something in an area you use a radiant pipe because the radiant pide give off it's heat/coolness in that area better than a normal pipe if you didn't know that than you're welcome but if you did know that then you're welcome

Radient pipes take refined metal. Somthing that is in very limited supply in his colony right now. Also he only has access to the least efficient way to make refined metal currently. That would not be a wise use of resources until he gets a smelter.

Could you experiment with exo suits and jet packs moving between 2 or more “bases”? Maybe even for science, a quick dev mode game where we can all learn. How best, if even possible, do you set up the control points between bases? Will dupes have to be locked into areas where they can use their suits by where they sleep? I think this is going to be critical to making this series a huge success.

6:34. You should build a double floor all the way in between the two bases. Insulting floor around a high temp conducting floor to share heat in between the two or more bases.

Hypothermia is a serious issue in this map. Usually i dont pay attention to it because at worst the dupe losses a lot of stats for half a cycle. Here though that happens CONSTANTLY so its a major issue. Warm suits helped a ton, but getting reed early is a bit of a thorn lol. I actually ended up putting atmo suit docks all over just to keep dupes out of super cold areas, like -40C areas. its weird going into the oil biome expecting to burn, but actually freeze (legit frozen oil can be found lol)

It might be a good idea to house a heating unit or two in the center of the base, uninsulated, to heat your planned heating loop. That way the heating loop heats the outside while the unit heats the inside. I never thought about this until now, but if there is no slimelung, what is the harm of polluted oxygen outside the base? 1:03:30 it might be a better idea to dump the desalinated water into the water tank and let the electrolizer pull from the tank, that way the hot salt water keeps circulating to warm the base, and you gain water (unless the electrolizer uses more water than the desalinator puts out)

Food poisoning. It debuffs bladder usage (+200%) etc. I had a colony basically shit themselves to death among other things.....

i would suggest running a hydrogen line to the pump at your salt water geyser, and using the hydrogen generator/ smart battery there to run it, to cut the number of coal generator locations that the dupes must travel.

wrong to allow everybody to research: not everybody is as fast in it so you lose duplicant workhours for a unit of job. Do it only if you do not know what jobs to give the dupes otherwise, which I believe should not be the case, when your bases is freezing fast or overheating and you have no insulation etc.
