One of the things I really enjoy about your process, Ceecee, is the organic way you progress. It is so liberating. When something happens that is seemingly a “surprise” we can watch in real time as your work embraces it and proceeds. I really appreciate that aspect as it revels in the creative process. Thank you for this aspect of your artistic temperament. Your fearlessness is inspiring.

@@lauradial3848 I don’t know the name of the brand but her journals are made of 100% cotton recycled paper & it’s cold pressed 140 lb or 300 gsm. Arches is an excellent paper or Fabriano Artistico- both 100% cotton. If you are looking for a less expensive option, I like Strathmore 400 series. It’s not cotton so the paint reacts a little differently but I prefer to use it for journaling and save the expensive papers for work that I’m selling or gifting. Hope that helps 😊

There is no reason that you can’t have more than one style. I’m sure that you don’t wear the same clothes every day or ‘feel’ the same way emotionally every day. You should feel comfortable simply creating as your heart directs. Your creation are always beautiful.

Absolutely Teresa! Ceecee is marvelous. I primarily paint bookmarks since it’s all I have time for these days, and I paint in multiple styles. Often the feedback I receive is very positive. When I send more than one to friends I’m often asked how I manage to do such different work. I’d never be happy sticking with one style. Thanks for your comment and I agree 100%. Blessings to you!

I’ve noticed that when you do loose/playful painting you usually do more doodling. And when you do more structured paintings you do minimal doodling. In that way I think that is how you balance both and each finished piece looks lovely.

Hey,Thank you for what you do and what you share so freely. I am a professional artist, mostly mixed media. I recently broke my shoulder and have not been able to do what I normally do in my studio. I found you on line and you have saved me. I have revisited w/c and doodling, something I used to do years ago. It has given me a chance to keep painting, with my one arm, no pressure for a show, just pure enjoyment. Working in the small format has also been wonderful. You are wonderfully talented and kind to share your thoughts, your practices artisticlly and your sense of humor. We all get to serious about our work and the pure fun, experiments are what it is all about. Thanks for being you!

Both pieces are lovely! I understand that as an artist, you are inspired in different ways at different times and you want to grow your skills. I fell in love with your channel because of your bobbly doodled paintings. Those will always be my favorites. I guess, for me more is more. I still appreciate the more structured ones because of the control and skill you display, but the colorful ones with tons of doodles just really appeal to me. Either way, it is such a pleasure to watch and listen to your videos. I look forward to them all week. Thank you!!!

Leaning towards the structured piece that you did and maybe that is telling me more about what I prefer in my own work. Thank you CeeCee- as always, time well spent.

I love both styles....maybe each is appropriate for whatever your mood is on the day you decide to watercolor. Both are beautiful for separate reasons and I would enjoy artwork in either style as my own attempts at watercoloring take different avenues when i put paint to paper...love your work whatever style you decide on!

CeeCee - I think there is a lot of unity in the two pieces - you have an overall graphic style in all your work which is always interesting and beautiful. you tend to use a limited palette that somehow always looks perfect. Also your use of golds and other media depending on the piece is another classic ‘CeeCee’ - its you! I love it and learn so much from you.

I think even with the two approaches of playing vs being more structured, your style is very recognizable. The shapes and colors you use, the way you let colors fade into each other, your line work, it’s all very cohesive to me and it gains so much from both approaches. Also I think it is important to allow yourself to pick the approach you need right now. Some days more planning is needed, while on other days you just need to let go a bit. And you found ways to do both with the same medium and combine them even. When I need more structure I just jump to a completely different medium than watercolor 😅

I believe this is a right-brain left-brain conversation. I think that giving color a voice is part of your playfulness you add it to paper and allow it to make a choice of where it wants to go and that you play by finding objects in the color. It feels like when you put down an object that you are limiting that childlike abandonment or the voice of the color. I like the chaos of structure so doodling isn't in my wheelhouse but I do like the fantasy you create and I am trying more and more to follow your lead. If I were you I'd stop trying to analyze the process and just enjoy the freedom your mind is allowing you to stretch both sides of your brain. Love your work thank you for shariing.

You know, I have different styles too-I think it has more to do with personality type and the way your brain works. It’s not a flaw or limitation or failure (I know you weren’t thinking that, but someone else might.) Think about this: some pianists play only classical music and aren’t capable of playing jazz with the same level of expertise. A lot of jazz pianists are capable of playing in several different styles, including classical. I think it’s a gift-really! Like being ambidextrous, or being able to speak three different languages really well. I wouldn’t trade my ability to paint in various styles for the world. Embrace it and consider yourself blessed! Much love to you-your videos have helped me learn and overcome long periods of inactivity and get painting again.

For me, both styles are gorgeous and reflect you (and you know that) : the gesture when painting or doodling, the very delicated lines, the combination of colors, shades... I understand they are quite different, or should I say complementary, like day and night are, cycling into each other. I wish you to find your dawn and twilight, which are the transitions between day and night, and night and day. Again, dawn and twilight are different, but they make the shift between day and night smoother. I hope it will help you to gather all your creative aspects in a playful harmony. No doubt you'll find what you are looking for : your state of mind of playing is powerful, and that's the key ✨💚 With love, my dear 🤗

You are an awesome artist because of who you are on the inside, you express yourself in your work and it is lovely because you are lovely! I actually see them as the same style. Your just putting down your watercolors and marks in a different order, and using a fine brush more than a pen in the second one. But the colors, line work, and motifs are quite distinctive. Your art is wonderful and inspiring. Your use of neutrals is stunning. I love it. If I were in your shoes and felt strongly compelled to “marry” the two ways of working, I might try doing larger, more complex paintings, where I have both ways of working.

I definitely prefer the idea of a playful approach, however, I am just starting out with watercolour and am finding that using a pencil to start with helps me decide on a layout without committing to it. I hope, later on, to be able to set down my pencil and go straight in with my paints. I have made a couple of doodle books (loved doing that), and am trying to fill them with ideas and experiments, I’m also trying not to worry if they are imperfect (difficult!). I've had the styles quandary, much is made of using one style, what I have come to realise is I learn new techniques and styles and they feed into my own style, I need a rest from acrylics so I'll use watercolour, I use canvas then use paper, it keeps my work fresh and frankly makes sure I don't get bored lol if you are a creative it's natural to seek other ways :)
