This "method" takes the pressure off of making art that looks like something, and yet isn't just practice swatches. It made the idea of approaching art waaaay less stressful. THANK YOU for posting this video, and inspiring me to try it.

A great idea. Thanks! I waited in a clinic atrium during my husband’s appointment. Blue, blue, an odd green and old black and white photos of nuns. Even the framed art was blue, blue and green. The high point was watching the medical helicopter lift off. I read an entire Somerset magazine! I seriously needed a doodle book. Seriously!

My little sister tried to get me some watercolor paper for Christmas, and got me watercolor postcards by mistake...she was kinda bummed about, but I told her it was a bonus, and turned the postcards into a cute little book like the one you've made in the tutorial, only I added a hard cover wrapped in canvas.

Wow. I just had a deja vu experience: As a child in the 1970s, I often had similar, self-sewn booklets with me - without the watercolor preparation, I didn't know that yet - and a small bundle of very individually assembled pencils to be able to draw and paint always and everywhere. Often people thought I was a bit crazy with that. Ah. Which is undoubtedly true. How nice, but, I'm not alone with my pocket coloring books. That being said, I love your crazy birds. That's exactly what I love to doodle when I'm still sitting haphazardly at my coloring table.

These are just THE cutest little guys! You've inspired me to do much more line & wash with my watercolors. I do not paint detail, but your yt videos have enabled me to sloooow down my brain, my hand, connect with the pieces I'm working on. My 1st birds were atrocious, but fun! I wrote you once before how your 3 dot flowers enabled me to do an entire autumn landscape, simply having misted a bit on my paper, drawing 3 flowers (which, ironically, turned into 3 fall trees!). I watched another of your recent flat brush florals 2 days ago, & once more, you inspired me to whip out my Stonehenge black wc paper. Turned out decent, not easy to work on black paper, but I did it, using several of your techniques! Who knew that I would create several paintings from detail work? And the flowers on my black paper took an entire 30 secs, and are gorgeous! Thank you, CeeCee, for your gifts that spill over into new areas, at least for me. LOVE your videos! I would like to thank you...for the instructive videos on booklets and flowers and brushes...etc...I have been languishing here and lost my way....but now I am creating booklets, back into making my cards handpainted of course) and I did try to buy the Princeton brushes but the shipping to New Zealand was same as the price as three brushes. I held back. I have found Princeton SNAP brushes by total accident at my local shop so I immediately bought a 4, 6 and 12...oooh, they do hold lots of water and I guess the SNAP name means they snap back....which is what they are doing. hanks. I’ve been waiting for this! Yours is much simpler than the doodler book I haven been concocting in my head (and resulting in buying chipboard and washi tapes). Now that I’ve seen how you make yours, I can see that slim and simple is better. It’d be daunting to fill up 48 pages (that’s how many pages I had wanted it to be). 24 pages is more digestible and encouraging. I bought 140lb cotton watercolor paper. I probably have to Coptic bind 6 single folded sheets due to thickness. It may be better to use thinner mixed media paper for doodling.
@creationsceecee5 жыл бұрын
yes, simpler is sometimes best. starting small is my motto and then i can move to bigger things. wishing you wonderful doodling creativity!

Yes I am the mum who saved the majority of her kids artwork and they are now in possession of it, and they love it (as do their children). I don't know if you ever thought about making them a single book after you are done but... Here are a few ideas: you could sew them to a ribbon, to have a flexible spine, or glue their spines together, that makes the book spine stiff but it works, or just make knots connecting the stitch of one booklet to the other somewhat mimicking exposed binding. I think it would be a cute book at the end.

@AyaSmith5 жыл бұрын
creationsceecee Of course you can still get jagged lines if you so desire if you hold your pen in the drawing method (VS the writing method as you are using), the benefit is in the control you gain from your shoulder instead of your wrist. The lines will become swifter, more interesting to the eye, and you’ll gain an different sort of control you haven’t encountered before. I remember making the transition myself... it is very interesting and a little mind opening.
