I love your videos that are short, sweet and to the point! Don't get me wrong, full length videos are great and a wonderful learning experience, but a short video on a specific topic like this is great for adding to my knowledge base! Thanks so much!

Thank you as didn’t know better to use “transparent”, staining colors instead of more opaque! Now black line practice test!
@appleknocker567 ай бұрын
I might have this backwards? Would you put the “staining but transparent color” glazed over the bottom like you did with the orange? Took me awhile to know which colors were both and finding that information wasn’t easy but feel glazing proper way get much better results!

VERY helpful...didn't know about using staining colors for glazing (and now I know what staining colors are from your previous vid)...or working light to dark when glazing. Thank you!

You gotta try transparent acrylic-no worries the under layer can mix with the glazing ,downside-they are expensive and can damage natural hair brushes.

Yesterday I told a friend of mine that glazing was the watercolour technic that actually scared me the most especially when it comes to mid values and darks in landscapes, after the first light wash. It's funny you came out with a video on glazing while I'm struggling with it, that's telepathy 😄

Thanks for demonstrating this so clearly - much appreciated. Also, can the terms laying and glazing be used interchangably regarding watercolor? I've heard some artists use them that way but others say layering is not exactly the same as glazing in watercolor. Thanks very much.
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber2 жыл бұрын
mmm. There's a slight difference. Layering just means putting one lot of paint on top of another. Glazing is specifically the practice of putting transparent layers over with the intention of changing the underneath colour, from warm to cool for example, or from bright to muted etc

Where does it say on paint tubes that a colour is transparent?.
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber7 ай бұрын
It doesn't always, but it's usually on the manufacturer's website. The best way is to swatch. Draw a thick line in permanent black liner pen, paint your swatch across and see how clear it looks after the paint has dried.

I can’t remember the man’s name (older) and last name begins with a K who does goes into depth (in a book) about glazing with staining watercolors and by chance do you know his name? Tyvm. Trying to see now which of mine is which as know have done opposite.

Sorry, drawing a blank on that one!

I found his name! Jim Kosvanec and hard to get his book & (DVD set) but his three ringed color wheel is something else! Thank you as is important to know each colors properties 😊.
