It's so helpful and encouraging seeing you do different versions of a beautiful piece. Sometimes when I finish my paintings but I don't like them because I don't think that those paintings are my best work, it bothers me when other people tell me how much they like the paintings.

Watching you paint, especially the face area, always mesmerizes me. I love ALL your works here -- and you said you were not happy with your early versions; well, I'm happy with all of them :) Usually, great artists (and you are one, for sure) are never fully satisfied with their art work. They always push for more, going up another level higher. A perfectionist you are, me thinks :) That's why your works are GREAT!

It's nice to hear that sometimes you have to restart paintings. I always feel so discouraged as an artist when my paintings don't go to plan, and it can feel as if I'm not good enough!

I just love the way you work with watercolor! Most of the time the way a work with it doesn't fullfill me and I end up giving up on them... but, you really help me and I'm just waiting money to buy a better paper as well to try the way you work!! You're one of my biggest traditional inspiration and I'm so glad to discover you, really

Oh my goodness - what beautiful paintings - the colours are just amazing - and they are so lifelike - I can't believe anyone who creates such beautiful paintings can say they aren't good - to me they are absolutely magical! They do say you are always your own worst critic. Thank you so much for doing this video - I shall now endeavor to paint more in watercolour - and will try and keep your hints and tips in mind . I couldn't ever achieve anything as beautiful - but I'll keep trying xxxxx

It is often faster to start over than to try and fix something. I have made up my mind to do more drawings and color studies before I paint - hard to keep that a priority especially if time is short! You do beautiful work, thanks for the video.

Get an anti-slide mat for carpets and put the under the easel. With the rubber under the easel you have a hard time to move the easel and it will stay in place. The same goes for table easels. It is lightweight and therefor a mobile solution, too.

its always helpful to know how the artist feels about their work. first glance, this peice looks amazing and i never would have thought you didnt like the results.. there is the image in our head we try to translate to life and what acutally takes on a life of its own. 😉 thanks for sharing, i enjoy watching the process. good reminder to experiment and its ok if your not thrilled with the result. you learn.

It's lovely to know ur insight thoughts behind the painting process n why u didn't decide to choose it... u were going pretty well with it till 15:46 😍 then u went overboard with experimentation! However I feel experiments are important too, coz they teach us a lot.. merely thinking is not enough, we have to do n see ourselves what comes in our creative mind n where it would take us!! ❤️👏👏

You can seal the watercolor paper in the areas you plan to use oils by just painting the paper with white acrylic paint. I use 3 thin coats and separate brushes. Works great for me.

What paper do you use? I’m currently using a mixed media paper but it is still quite grainy. It’s perfect for the watercolours but leaves a texture when applying my polychromos. I do blend with paint thinner but it still leaves texture... any suggestions on smooth paper that would take the watercolour? Your work is magical!

beautifull composition, and face ! But if I can make a little critic, I find that there is to much greys and blacks , it dulls out your painting. For better light you can use crimson with emerald it makes a vibrant bleu grey that carches the light.

Wow, you do beautiful work! I have a question, though, about how you use the Polychromos with the watercolors. I noticed that after you lay down the pencil work you go back over it with a brush. Are you using mineral spirits, water or something else entirely to get the smooth blends? I'm getting ready to try my hand at mixed media with water colors, ink and Faber Castell Polychromos and have been debating on what to use for the blending of the pencil work? Thanks for any tips you can give and once again, beautiful work! :-)
@LiobaBrueckner
@LiobaBrueckner 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale! I don't use mineral spirits in general for my watercolor based artworks - this one was an exception and I didn't use them for the blendings! ^^ I heard though that there are solvents to get smooth blendings with color pencils! To blend I go over each area with Caran d'ache LUMINANCE pencils! In white or grey tones, makes the areas a bit gray though! If you find those solvents that I've heard of please let me know!!! :D

How is it that there is copyright on stamps? You buy them to use them for your art, so copyright should not take place. If you sell the same pattern as a stamp, then it makes sense that that is a copyright breach. But to use them for what you bought them can’t be possibly wrong.
