Each specialty set is great for me since I jump around various styles and subject matter. I'd use the pale pastel set for tinting photos in vintage-looking collage pieces I often do. I also do nature scenes with the woodland set and bright, art deco inspired or 1960s style psychedelic pieces with this cool tropical set. Thanks for bringing these sets to my attention!

Karen I was watching your video on you sharing the glass pe. Now I’m not sure if you know that you should not let your pen touch the glass jar you use with water to rinse you pen or clean it, why? You ask you can damage your nib and even chip it or break it off. Don’t ever leave it on your dest let it alway rest on the little glass rest that comes with your pen so it won’t roll off your desk. I love mine but I made sure I know how to take care of this beautiful hand blow little beauty. Just wanted to share a little information with you. By the way I enjoy your channel and your beautiful work you make. You are so much fun to spend time with. Thanks for sharing with us all your talent with us ❤

This was a nice review of the Prima Tropical paints. I have them and they're my favorites, as well. The colors are awesome. I also have the Classics. I purchased them to have the true primary and secondary colors and they are what I hoped for. It's a great set. Thanks for the Reviews, they've been helpful.

OOOooooo...!! These look gorgeous!! I only have the Complexions. I LOVE the gold and pink in that set and really like the rest of those colors to use for hair color. I can’t remember who, but someone did the black light test of the tropical set because she thought they were just a bit too vibrant. Look, I have NO problem that some companies add fluorescence; in fact I just broke down and got opera pink because…well, sometimes you need a “jump out” pink! I’m working on a small series from pics my ex sister in law took of a Santa Cruz beach sunset last month. (It actually went viral online..not necessarily hers, but a ton of folks caught what appeared to be a literal sky on fire! BRIGHT yellow, orange, red, pink to purple!) I THINK I captured most of it with a yellow underpaintings help…but something like these that I’m doing for myself…I wouldn’t mind if they weren’t as lightfast, I’ll put them under glass. My ONLY problem is when these companies don’t tell you they’ve added a little extra spark. But…it’s obviously not JUST Prima & the only way to tell is watch reviewers who tested them, test it yourself, or next year discover your HOT sunset..is now a pastel…(or worse)

I will probably have to edit my comment after finishing the bedeo because that's how I roll on KZbin but I'm soooo mixed on the Prima watercolors. The colors....gorgeous! The two major nits I have with them is (1) they are sooooo freaking chalky for one and (2) that causes them to lift easily, even after drying when they should have soaked into the paper enough by becoming dry! I WANT so bad to love them because they come in the most beautifully complementary sets for whatever project we want to do depending on our subject preference. I may be a watercolor snob though because I have mannnny years of experience with them so I know what I expect to happen (ha! Funny to say because watercolors are the most "let it happen" medium in the painting in the world) but I tend to use my Daniel Smith and Qor paints the most. Kure take even feels more consistent than Prima. I feel bad for being honest because Prima makes a bazillion reallllly great products for us artists (particularly mixed media arts) but the watercolors...im sad about all the sets I've bought. And now, after this commercial break of all of my "everyone has one opinion" comment, back to the show. 😂 Miss talking to ya girl! Life got CRAY af and I see you've been super busy too! Would love to still figure out a way to "art" together! Maybe even with Claudia! We could do a "Karen's weirdo local NC friends" kind of thing one weekend! With spirits! And I "ain't" talking about the spirits that awesome cheerleaders have. 😂😂😂

Now I feel like a shit head because I'm only two minutes in and realize I should have waited. Pretty sure the classic was the first set I bought, and it's my favorite! The colors flow beautifully! The seep into the paper and if I wait for them to dry, layering is totally doable. The pastel set was one of the chalky ones that I didn't like and if I'm remembering correctly that it was their skin tone set (I could totally be wrong and thinking of a different color so I'm so sorry to Prima if you see this and I'm wrong) but they were much like the tropicals. As was the jewel tones set. (dang... Now I need to go find my Prima watercolor kits and see which ones I actually have. #artsupplyhoarderproblems 😢😅

@@carolinagirlcreationz7049 hey girl!! No worries!! I totally hoard Daniel Smiths so I hear you - I have well over 100 🙈 and I have all the QoRs! But I like these sets in that I'm not pressuring anyone to buy the others that are just too expensive for a lot of people. I also love them for travel! They always stay together better than my handmade travel sets but they definitely aren't as good! I'm gone for two more weeks in October back to Scotland for another retreat, woot!! That's where you should come! It's over-the-top MAGICAL!!!!!! And plenty of BOTH kind of spirits are free roaming ANd floating there!!😂 (no but seriously, it's true🥂👻!)

I hope I didn't offend anyone at all. Also I've started to FINALLY do some traveling because...errr...im an EMPTY NESTER! 🫨🥰😄 So since you are doing twice a year Scotland sessions, how do I find out how to get on your October 2024 trip? Pretty sure the hubs would be supportive! Plus I could get a "preview" of my favorite, would move to, sight unseen, country before planning our two week trip there in a couple of years! I so have ADD for life so any advice would be awesome! Ooh, also, I also finally have a spare room that I'm working on to make my art studio finally! I just want to record and put out some content in my free time (not to the level that you and my other art nerd friends are) that will help folks starting out in all of my random ass ADD art stuff. (girl it's so bad. Like it would have resin jewelry, epoxy tumblers, crosstitching, quilting,.... Good lord the art ADD is strong with this one. 😂)
