/ adrianhomersham A loose watercolour tutorial by Adrian Homersham. This demonstration uses wet into wet techniques to create a loose expressive seascape.
Full details of all the equipment used are included in the video description below:
Isabey Kazan Squirrel Quill Mop : Series 6234 : Size 4
www.jacksonsart.com/isabey-ka...
Jackson's art now makes their own brand of Squirrel Mops which are very good and slightly cheaper. A size 13 Jacksons mop brush is roughly the same size as a size 4 Isabey brush.
Goat Haired Calligraphy Brush
The brush used in this demonstration was purchased from Jackson’s Art. I regularly use the Large and Medium sizes of this brush. Please see link below:
www.jacksonsart.com/jas-chine...
Paint
I use a variety of paint brands including Daniel Smith and Windsor & Newton in both the Cotman and Artist’s range. The Cotman colours are very economic to purchase and are used by both students and professional artists including Sophie Knight RWS. Colours used Cotman Raw Sienna, Light Red and Ultramarine. Windsor & Newton Artists Windsor Blue (this could be substituted for Cotman Intense Blue). Cotman Watercolours

Paper Fabriano Artistico The paper used for this demonstration was Fabriano Artistico EW 140lb Rough. This is a 100% cotton rag paper with a beautiful bright white surface that aids the creation of vibrant translucent watercolours.

Palette Manufactured by Stewart these are very light and strong. The large open mixing area encourages loose expressive colour mixing. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...

Thank you again, it was great to watch this develop, very inspiring! The use of the white oil pastel was very interesting, I like the effect of the resist, and your subtle restraint....knowing when to stop is key...

I think youve succeeded in your quest. Your work has a spontaneity and zest for atmospherics and surface texture. Something I try to harness in my own work. Will check out more of your paintings in the future. Thankyou.

Just found your channel last night. It’s amazing… love these colours, and the composition all together. Had a quick look all your abstract paintings, really love it! I’m just a beginner. I have a question, when you plan these styles before painting, do you have a picture in mind? Or do as you go? Thanks so much!

Hi Shelly, thank you for watching and for your positive comments. I always depict subjects I am personally familiar with and work from a mixture of memory, charcoal sketches and photographic references.

Hi Danielle I start on completly dry paper and begin by wetting selected areas with pale pigment. I always try to leave some areas of the paper untouched to create sharp edges and clean white areas within the composition. I then drop darker washes into the wet areas to build up the design and create contrasts. Thanks for watching.

Hi Kaz thanks for your positive feedback. I usually work from a mixture of plein air sketches, photographs and memories. Before starting a painting I will always make a black and white sketch to establish where the darks and light art going to go this gives me confidence to apply the paint quickly and loosely. Thanks for viewing Adrian

Wonderful! Do you ever do larger abstract pieces? You are so expressive with your brush strokes, do you feel restricted by the paper size?
@adrianhomersham8544
@adrianhomersham8544 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen thanks for viewing. I do intend to start working on a slightly larger scale, scaling up my tools as I go. I think my main restriction is self confidence and having the courage to work on a large scale. I have seen several other abstract watercolourists work on full imperial sheets of paper and larger which I find inspiring.
