Easy to know why no water. It is seasonally. Usually in November it's possible to get frozen and destroy the pool concrete so they clear it for the winter time.

I have been living 14 years in Bucharest now. Bucharest is only nice if you live in a central area and walk. If you have to drive is a nightmare. Hope this will get sorted out a bit when the ring road gets ready. Another really bad thing about Bucharest, is that it's really far away from mountains and the sea, what I call the real nature, not the artificial one in the parks. And the lack of road infrastructure makes it challenging to go somewhere for a weekend, might take you hours for 150km distance. There are way better cities than Bucharest in Romania, Brasov, Cluj, Timisoara, Sibiu, even Constanta which at least has seaside. In general the more north west you go (Transylvania region), the better it is.
@jamiemooreexplores2 жыл бұрын
I thought it was a lovely city, I agree on also going outside of Bucharest as well though. Be sure to sub the channel and check out the other videos, in the next episode I make my way down to Vama Veche 👀
@alexevo80162 жыл бұрын
I didn't see anything in this clip to prove to me that Bucharest is ok or not, regardless of the feedback. First of all, that the positioning of the camera is faulty. The 2nd aspect, @stamy74, if you stayed in Bucharest for 14 years, you stayed for nothing, because you gave bad advice and unrealistic feedback. Precisely, as a local, it seems to me that the City Center has deteriorated and on the opposite pole, other areas, located on the outskirts or residential areas have developed. Mountain and sea far away? I go to Sinaia quite often in a year and it takes 1 hour and 19 minutes by train, and it takes 2 hours to Constanța, does that seem like a lot to you? You probably have loft problems and are giving unrealistic feedback. I've traveled enough to say goodbye to the "West", feeling insecure.
@stamy742 жыл бұрын
@@alexevo8016 I need one hour just to go out of Bucharest cause there's no ring road yet. Have you tried to go weekend to Sinaia with a car? Have you tried to drive to Constanta during summer? The road infrastructure in Bucharest is still a joke, even compared to other Romanian cities like e.g. Brasov. The only reasons I still live in Bucharest is professional and family.
@cosminzaharia26692 жыл бұрын
@@stamy74 Traffic in Bucharest is incredibly bad but the positioning is excellent to either mountain or sea side.Just think about it, it's ¬150km to Brasov and ¬200km to Constanta that puts Bucharest in the center, both are seasonal/touristic zones ofc they get busy during their period of activity in the winter/summer. We could use more highways and better roads in Romania though...
@stamy742 жыл бұрын
@@cosminzaharia2669 I don't care about kilometric distance but how much time you spend to reach the mountain and the sea. Funny thing is that to Constanta there is 200km motorway and still in the summer it gets blocked since early morning in the weekends. For Sinaia, a place only 120km away, you need more than 2 hours to reach it during weekends, because of the poor road infrastructure.

Well... let me tell you something, I am 21 years old and I was born in this town, so , when I was younger in Herastrau Park the fountains used to work, there was water in them, as another subscriber said, we have a new Maior for Sector 1 and she chose to not pay for protecting citizen against rats, and maybe that's why there is no water in the fountains in Herastrau Park. Now for the food... Mici = Minced meat on grill , usually romanians eat Mici with mustar and paine ( mustar = mustard ; paine = bread ), Salmola it's wrong, the correct name is "Sarmale" and you need to eat them warm (Sarmale = minced meat with rice which is wrapped in a piece of pickled cabbage) , salada verta it's again wrong, the correct name is "salata verde" ( "salata verde" = green salad ), but on your plate you had salata varza ( salata varza = cabbage salad ) not green salad so you identified it correct, and the rice in romanian is "orez", and the yellow stuff that you named corn , it's not actually corn, but it's corn based, you call it polenta ( mamaliga = polenta ). I hope this was useful for you.
@jamiemooreexplores2 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, one day when I come back I will get to see the fountains working again in all of their glory. And thanks I appreciate the corrections. I think I need to try the Sarmale again when it's warm personally, but yes thankyou anyway I found it very helpful 😄
@Crismand2 жыл бұрын
You've been unlucky, mate. "Sarmale" (and not salmola) are vey good and tasty but in a proper restaurant or cooked at home, the food where you ate that it s more like a fast food one without too much quality.

It's so heartbreaking for someone like myself that was born and grew up till the age of 11 in Romania, to see a place like Herastrau go to literal hell :( I'm so sad. That place has been the staple of bucharest for many years, I remember myself and my family along with friends just gathering up for days of summer & spend them going for walks in the park, eating mici and going for boat rides across the lake. Riding roller skates and picking flowers, admiring the fountains ... now it's all sad and depressing :( (ps. I am using my partner's youtube account so don't worry about the name haha)

What you try to say? that Romania is not quiet and civilised and a good education system? For her :Sweden, Norway and even Denmark are not so quiet and stress free there, just check the population ratio / muslims male immigrants. For women in those 3 countries the stress levels definitely increased, since crimes increased, since the islamists arrive.

The fountains not working has also been in the press. The Bucharest city mayor declined responsibility and said that things are normal... no idea if not working is normal in his opinion, but there it is. They're supposed to work, but the city hall cut public funding to the parks, so that seems to be the reason why they are dry. I'd also want to express solidarity with the women of Iran. The repression there deserves awareness indeed. I think your friend Parisa is better off here.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, it's a shame because aside from that it was a beautiful park.
