I know the winter will be tough, but it maybe the best thing is to have the dome exposed for a longer time to find out if any issues need to be addressed before "backfilling" - as once backfilled it will be hard to access the dome. This build is amazing !

Many of the roof coatings recommend sprayers that can move at least 1 gallon per minute to work with their products. Unfortunately those sprayers are all thousands of dollars. I’m working on a similar project right now and searching for used contractor grade sprayer. Cool building!

It will be great to get the water leaks stopped. I hope this product proves itself. At least after all the trials and tribulations, the house will be awesome.🙂👍👍

FYI, it did still leak where the concrete was cracked.

It may require screening or filtering the material before spraying. Stuff like fiber reinforcing material won't go through the spray gun as well as any dry or congealed bits that may be in the original storage container.

Those are phenomenal sprayers. Yeah, it’s always a good idea to filter what you’re going to spray. I just purchased the Graco 360 VSP, which I’ll be using to paint the cabinets and maybe the walls in my RV later this fall.

Take the filter out of the gun and throw it away. That's what I did with mine. You could sleeve the intake hose with a piece of pantyhose. I have never tried that but a painter friend of mine told me about that. Get a bigger hole spray tip. Your doing great.

Thanks! Someone else also said to ditch the filter too. 👍

Wow, I love the black look! I know it’ll be buried someday but ya gotta admit it looks neat! Don’t trust the paint out of the can, they sell strainers for 5 gallon buckets.
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
It’s a bat cave now! Will definitely try a strainer in the future.. we are just trying to fast forward through everything right now before winter sets in. Living and learning!

I know it’s an old video wish I could have told you two years ago…turn the tip of the sprayer and pull the trigger to clear clogs. Also run it through a strainer you’ll be golden.
@nelsontrains10362 жыл бұрын
Try removing the filter in the gun and using a 619 or wider if possible tip plus with thinning it down and lubricating the ball on the sprayer again wide tip as you can get it and taking the filter out of the gun and possibly the pump unit 🙏🛠️

I have a Graco 390 with the same spray gun. I've never seen the filter so clogged. That stuff could've used a strainer for sure. I'm sure it would be different if you could do it over.....like most things. Was the Henry's something that would've been used first on the concrete even if you were covering it with soil?
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
Living and learning! And the Henry’s is not a part of the kit. We were going to do it anyway just because we want to really be extra sure we are waterproof but now it’s more important because we won’t be covered this winter.

in California most oil based sealants are banned. Dad used to say anything water based would fail very soon. and he would drive to Nevada to buy oil bSed products. He also insisted on copper caskets for entire family. but when he passed California had outlawed them. I drove 26 hours into Nsvada to buy and bring one back.
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! Never thought about that.

I'm glad you're getting it sealed! I'm also very interested in the process, since I haven't done anything like that. I wonder how successful you were with the sprayer, because it seems to be very fast job this way. There was another channel about building dome and they said you need to use a paint brush and literally push air out of every little air pocket in the concrete (and the paint in). It looked immensely labour intensive (to do it all by hand). So I wonder how your asphalt and bitumen mixture worked out sprayed. Because I remember I once applied yellow road marking paint at a student job and at that pace I'd be doing a my concrete walls few years :-). There's another material, some kind of nano penetration that actually soaks some depth into the concrete and supposed to be very good and lasting option. But I'm sure it costs a top dollar, so I don't think it's gonna be an option. The bitumen itself is already quite expensive item on the list.

So far this is working great. Sprayer was a challenge and we needed to do second coat in different direction but it definitely filled little holes great! So fast and I wouldn’t do it any other way

@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid2 ай бұрын
I think we used what actually came with it. I have to warn you that this did NOT completely waterproof us....we still had leaks through microcracks that were very hard to see.
@jimmymullins49972 ай бұрын
@@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid Thanks, did you switch to a different coating?
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid2 ай бұрын
@@jimmymullins4997 No, we used some generic flex seal on the cracks and it got us through the winter with tarps over the house. The next year we actually put a waterproofing membrane on the whole house.

Probably needed to be thinned with paint thinner or xylene. I don’t think that stuff is water based. Meaning easily cleaned with water. I made that mistake and wrecked a sprayer.
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid Жыл бұрын
This particular one is water based. It’s Henry 107. It’s actually in the directions/data sheet to thin it with water.

I am trying to spray Asphalt Fence Paint with a Greco airless sprayer and the Tip (523) and Filter keep getting clogged with what looks like grit/sand. How did you get around this?
@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid Жыл бұрын
We used a product that had no fibers or particles, but we still needed to back spray a lot. We would switch back and forth. And when that stopped working we would do a quick clean.
@DisabilityPCTech2 жыл бұрын
Would the sprayer work better if you removed the blue filter, since, your not using it for paint. Possibly better flow for the asphalt sealer . . .
