There's a whole generation of under 25s now adore this film because its 90% practical stunts and full scale model effects, compared to the cgi garbage we get now. It got savaged over its budget and is far better than it gets credit for. It was the tie in media that killed this film, and definitely definitely would work so well now days in the eco centric climate of our modern world.

7:46 what was the bad guys' plan if Costner had NOT snatched the kid out of the water? They were still heading toward a three way crash, killing themselves and the kid. And I feel the need to write out the ending of this film: Three villains on jet-skis race toward a helpless child floating in the water. The hero bungee-jumps off a hot air balloon toward the child. The hero grabs the child and springs away, as the three villains collide and burst into a massive explosion. Someone WROTE THAT in a script!
