I also learned the hard way that drawing was more fun and productive when I focused on discreet skills for a few weeks at a time, as opposed to shifting to many areas of practice during a single day or week: it gets hard when I forgot the end goal. So I just resolved to do every lesson assignment at least 5 times before moving on to the following video. Finishing a set of fundamental lessons always eliminate any lingering doubts about progress and purpose. Thanks again Jeff.

Jeff, first learned of you many years ago when looking at your art in an Artist Magazine and the first thought was Nicholai Fechin incarnate, one of my favorite artist. Now several years later and having watched your videos I see what a remarkable man you are and what a generous and sincere soul you are. I'm many years your senior but have much respect for your wisdom.

Thank you Jeff for all of these videos. If I hadn't already, I would sign up for the online atelier now! I feel that I have found the right teacher as you see the journey to mastery in art or athletics or whatever as a holistic journey. That is what I experienced in the last two and a half years since I discovered painting to be the one thing I really want to learn. It affects my whole life and my perception of everything and everyone around me. It lead me on a zigzag-journey through the internet on search for the information I need to improve painting and myself, overcome my personal weaknesses, etc. Maybe now the journey takes a more straightforward direction.

Thank you for this video. I love Mastery book so much and always wondered if there's someone who speaks about it from an art perspective, so happy I found your videos.

I'm very happy i found your channel, i'm a painter myself, and i'm glad you addressed physical fitness, i think most artist don't realise or want to accept the importance of this factor

Holy shit Jeff Watts you are a badass. You managed to keep the school afloat and make major changes for your life's work to continue on, not knowing if it would work or not. That's so much harder than I can imagine and I'll probably lose everything if I were in your position and had to do the same things myself.

i always have the feeling that i waste time when i go out for a run, or when i go to the gym. i keep thinking that i could be at home studying, instead of lifting weights or something. i realy canțt make peace between art and phisical health..

You need a healthy body (including the brain) to sit down and study art ! just don't spend all your free time at the gym if you want to draw.

Vitamin deficiencies are real! I am chronically ill because of not knowing how to take care of myself. We don't learn any of this extremely necessary stuff in school. Our culture doesn't strive for health.
