I actually like Anna Kendrick's definition of a musical, which is that the characters don't necessarily know/comment that they are singing, and the music must drive the plot forward. She doesn't call Pitch Perfect a musical because the characters specifically know when they are/are not singing, and can comment on their singing. Given that definition, I would say Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is most definitely a musical. (i.e. nobody ever comments about their singing/not singing), and music/singing is used to drive the plot forward.

Marques happy new year. Been watching your stuff for over a decade now and I’m so happy to see how much you’ve achieved while remaining humble and grounded. If I may add one unsolicited piece of advice, find more people to add to your team with different opinions to you. Your circle seems amazing however they all seem to agree with everything you say most of the time. As you continue to evolve from a small channel into a large business, having wildly different perspectives may unlock new creativity. Best wishes

I became hooked on computers 4 decades ago, when I had to program via marked sense cards that would be filled out and sent off by my school, long before being ‘Nerdy’ became cool. I’m now in the music business and computers are still integral in my day to day. I discovered Marques first, and even YT messaged him about a mac issue. Would love to see Cleo guesting in the studio with you guys, along with some other industry bigwigs (who could be put under pressure). I had a rough 2023 and got some major panic attacks and anxiety was at a peak during August-October. I also found this podcast this year. One time in October I had to do a pretty long drive alone and again I had major anxiety symptoms. Then I just stopped and searched for something different to listen to than I was during that drive. I did find WVFRM ep.183 with Cleo Abram. And in time I just found myself driving normally, being focused and calm and interested in the pod. That never happened before. Since then WVFRM became my go to pod, the only one I watch on the regular, and is a must when I am on the road on a longer trip. My therapy was the main reason my anxiety got a lot better, but WVFRM did for sure help me when I needed some in the moment help. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!

Story time about cheating on tests: I was struggling in calculus in college and needed a good grade on my finale exam to pass the class. So like any normal person, I bought a wifi spy camera and a tiny invisible earbud piece for my ear. I cut a hole in the arm of my jacket and glued the camera in so that I could easily point the camera at the test. I set up my friend who lived a few hours away up with the camera app and he told me the answers through the earbud during the test. Well that was how it was supposed to work... Unfortunately, the camera quality sucked to much to see well and one of my tiny earbuds fell out halfway through the test. Calc became the only class I ever failed, but boy was it fun!

36:13 Regarding what Andrew was saying about Quantum computing and passwords. I think this would be worth a deeper dive, because it's not so much that Quantum computers could crack a live password for a site. It's that for all these hacks and data breaches we hear about, some of those are encrypted using current methods, but there are people who might be sitting on mountains of encrypted data, waiting for quantum computer even if it takes years, because the data in those might still be exploitable. I would definitely love you to get someone with good knowledge of the subject on, I know Wendell from Level1Techs talks about this theory a lot, but I don't know if he has specific knowledge on Quantum computing, but he'd make a great guest from the point of data security.

David, Facebook lite was the main deal in Uganda around that time. Smartphones were just starting to get popular and the specs were the lowest. Storage was an issue and the app was heavy. FB lite was the best alternative. 44:38

re Andrew's question about lockout at 36:06: most password cracking is not being done using a website's login form for exactly that reason, but rather illegally stolen/leaked copies of the website's database. Once cracked, hackers will take these passwords and use them to try to login to your account on that website among many others websites (in case you reuse passwords) to steal your data and money and whatnot. This process is known as credential stuffing.
