I entirely agree. I have immense respect for what Marques has built over the years, but through the Podcast, I realized that he's sometimes a bit rigid or overly correct. I understand it's probably justified with all the responsibilities, etc., but with such a great team like his, I always wished he would relax and goof around more. The topics they discuss are obviously interesting, but personally, I think it's more about the characters, their personalities, and the way they talk about it. I truly enjoy the team discussing all sorts of things while also showing their human side. It's super fun.

I don't get the point. That's why phones have Siri etc, you don't need to see the phone. If this was just the LLM+API-portion, it'd be not interesting, because all the other players will have something like this by this year. The interesting part is clearly the LAM, pretty much a AI Macro maschine, which nobody has right now.

my mom was once on a farm and was asked to "quickly and painlessly" kill a rabbit by grabbing its head and [vivid description redacted]. she was not strong enough, apparently. it went bad. when i was a kid, i asked her 'what bunnies sound like', and she told me that story and described its very human-sounding screaming noises. So I became convinced that that was the default "hey, a rabbit is actually making a sound" noise, like, 'clearly a cowardly critter that runs and hides as a first defense, would only make audible noises when it is absolutely panicked. So rabbits sound like human terror. That is the noise they make.'

Rabbit should consider making a dash cam. Take the existing hardware they have announced , and add a beefier camera and video recording/cloud storing software. You can train it on your driving habits and it can use its camera to alert you if it suspects you are sleeping on the wheel, give more accurate turn by turn directions, and allow you to share more accurate pin locations to friends and family. This can especially be handy for older cars.

So the Alaska Airlines Plane, a Boeing 737 Max 9, was having a caution light for cabin air pressure. The pilots reported the issue but it was cleared to continue to fly, but was pulled from the Hawaii route. Initial reports said that there were some bolts that were not tightened all the way, then it was found out that some of those bolts may have not ever been installed.

Yeah it made it sound a lot like as if this was the fault of the operators of the plane, when with what's known so far it seems much more like Boeing just did a poor job with the design, production and quality control of its planes. Especially considering that the 737 Max has already been grounded before, and all the defects found with Boeing planes lately, that's a big story here; wtf is Boeing management doing. Was hoping to hear their perspective, as tech guys it might've been interesting, but that just seemed very poorly informed

Making it out as if it was the operators fault is very poor reporting and misinformation. Nice episode. Quick thoughts re Rabbit R1: 1. They mention the upcoming rabbit store to share taught actions with others and ability to monetize 2. This tech is destined to be miniaturized into a single chip thats manufactured into other devices - look at what's happened with dedicated GPUs generally and Apple's M architecture 3. The device is v1 - it shouldn't be compared to mature consumer devices, it doesn't need to be perfect, have mass adoption, or even be a commercial success day 1 4. This product is an incredibly important step forward - it's made multi-modal AI portable. It proves it's possible with a fresh take using current AI tech and will motivate other companies and developers to respond
@nordicFries
@nordicFries 8 ай бұрын
Yes, It is destined to be miniaturized, but it isn't unique hardware like a chip. They don't have a "R1-chip" that they can license to other manufacturers. it's a small one-purpose computer. This will be integrated functionality in the iPhone and the Apple watch in the future, not be a stand alone product. (We went through that with carrying around a cell phone, camera, iPod, calendar, note pad, book, recording device, flash light etc. We don't want that) The R1 is a cool gadget and the fact that it is a tactile product makes it interesting - many early adopters will want to get one purely on the collectability and to be the first of something. But it will end up unused in a drawer very soon. No one actually wants another thing to bring along, and to charge every day. I don't think the investors agree that it doesn't have to be a financial or commercial success straight away. Because the truth is that the product is cool, and the demo is neat, but multi-modal AI is something EVERYONE is working on. Apple, Microsoft, Open AI, Samsung, Google - Everyone is putting all their effort into making multi-modal AI. Google made a very similar demo of their version a few months ago and we will see many more of these coming out during the year. Rabbit will not be able to compete with those companies. And IF R1 is a commercial success then maybe someone will buy it for the brand and some of the tech and integrate it into their product otherwise it will be sherlocked within months.

Its not going to compete even with apps on your modern phones in few months time, as AI has SIGNIFICANTLY advanced recently. Former rabbit owner here. Rabbits make various sounds. They don't really have a main vocalization in the way cats meow or dogs bark, which is why they're considered quiet animals, but they do make sounds for different reasons. When a rabbit is feeling threatened it will make a grunting or snorting sound. When a rabbit is feeling comfortable and content it will make a purring-like sound by gnashing their teeth together. Essentially vibrating their teeth. When a rabbit is in extreme duress, like thinking it will die, it will scream. Baby bunnies will make squeaking sounds but that tends to go away pretty early.

If you watch the Spike Jonze movie Her from 2013, you can see the potential of the Rabbit device. Saying it could be an app or is just like a phone is thinking in very small terms. This device/methodology is thinking beyond current interfaces into a future where gadgets blend into the background and we interact with our devices on a much more human, natural level. If this were an app on a phone, you would always have the temptation to fiddle or jump into an app, etc. where as this is laser focused on getting something done and then going about your day and being back to your natural surroundings. Time will tell if this device is too early and it definitely needs to build confidence for people to buy into it. I look forward to seeing if Rabbit can pull it off.

One point I’d like to make about the rabbit recording feature is that it will break like macros if the recording only looks at the actual visuals of the page, but if it does any sort of network request analysis it could probably largely just map the user clicks to the important network requests and learn how to use the API for any given app. If that is the case, I think you will see much less of this “macro breaking” problem than you seem to think, as APIs tend to be more stable over time and are progressively enhanced for UI features
@dealloc
@dealloc 8 ай бұрын
Disregarding the fact that private APIs changes often, the main problem of that is that APIs don't relies on authorization that is not only created _from_ your credentials (auth flow) with short-lived tokens, but also to actions made in the app to prevent Cross-Site Forgery Requests (CSRF). It would have to reverse engineer the app and API in order to understand the flows and side-effects to be useful. Also that would be pretty bad for security if it can read network calls as those also contain sensitive information that is not displayed on screen such as passwords, authentication and authorization tokens, etc. It would be a huge liability to security.

Most of the sounds anyone will ever hear from a rabbit are bad news. Some especially vocal rabbits "oink" and "pur" but it's pretty uncommon and really quiet. Almost every other sound that a rabbit can make implies pain, anger, fear, or illness.

Ellis is gold. While you guys were discussing use cases for the Rabbit R1, I was trying to find a use case for it as well, I already have a pretty expensive phone that takes up enough space in my pocket as it is and I'm someone who triple-checks my calendars, notes, messages, etc.

I’m curious to know wether the teaching concept and learn to use PC programs like autocad. It would be an easy way to automate work if it can learn to use programs that aren’t web based

For the sleeping with earbuds issue, I recommend getting a Bluetooth eyemask. I’m not a huge eyemask fan, but it’s a great way to fall asleep

I have a blind friend. She and I brainstormed a bunch of ideas that could be used with Rabbit R1. This devise destroys what smart phones are doing right now. Read medication, expiration dates, help cross streets at intersections. Interact with smart devices (Alexa is doing it already but there's so much more) my elderly parents can't use a smart phone. They have a tough time using messenger and can't video chat with family unless the young members of the family set it up. This would definitely simplify everything.

The rabbit r1 is basically a phone but where the UI is displayed to your phone assistant and you get shown an animation of a rabbit, and the assistant clicks everything for you out of sight. I see an application for the hardware over it just being a phone feature if it was for kids, like a virtually chaperoned phone.

Those vibration plates are actually really helpful after whiplash. i was skeptical also, but it helped. I am not sure comparing it to amethyst is comparable. It really helps relax muscles and short periods in 2-3 Yoga poses feels like an hour in a session.

Slight correction, the kid whose shirt was pulled off by the sudden depressurization had to be held down in his seat by his mom despite being buckled in. So someone did *almost* get pulled out of the plane.

For me the R1 is exciting because of 2 things: no subscription fees for access to their model and the teach thing. It is basically a model that learns interfaces, can I teach it AutoCAD? GIS? Unity? , even better, can I use footage to teach it? And yes it us "like a macros" but far from it technologically. I also saw on their website that they want to have a store, they are doing that.

This week, I dropped my work phone into my plate of breakfast eggs and cracked the screen protector. Still ain’t figured that out. So how that one survived falling from a plane is beyond me!

I use Iphone SE first gen, which is in the same body as Iphone 5s and I am love the device. I do not use much social media on my phone but everything is installed and I check notifications from my friends to see if anything urgent comes up. I have whats app installed but I hardly chat on the phone. I mostly use whats app web on my laptop since I am almost alwasys on my laptop when I am not having fun. I also always use siri to start a phone call and belive me once you start using phone like it you will appriciate it. so R1 could be the perfect device for me. only thing stopping me from buying it is that it will not work with indian payment system UPI.

7:25 the fact that i actually got an ad from mous, saying that the phone that fell out of the plane used a mous case. And then in the same video you talk about this and mention someone should do something like that is amazing and a little concerning.

Where I see the real difference with Rabbit, vs the existing big corp assistants. As discussed, the assistants release APIs for apps to integrate into the assistants. The problem is that this requires the app devs to, not only integrate but to define the actions you want. I can’t count how many assistant integrated apps that end up with almost none of the actions that I’m personally wanting to use. Rabbit’s concept is that app integration isn’t required, it learns (essentially) to make all the UI taps in the default interfaces. No dependence on the devs for integration or understanding user preferences. (It really does just need to be an app, though, instead of yet more ewaste)

34:07 I wish project LINDA took off because I remember back in 2012, Logitech had an app you could download that would turn your phone into a universal track pad. I remember using my iPhone 5 for that feature.

The R1 in my opinion is a demonstration of what's possible outside the phone space. Maybe 50 years from now, Rabbit OS would run on a robot companion, who knows.

The biggest differences between a human personal assistant and an AI assistant is memory and listening in on your conversations. One of those things is probably not the problem hahaha
