$8K is hard to beat! Going to be hard for me to continue recommending the Avantis Solo when I’m consulting people in that price range
@joevegna2 ай бұрын
The price is very competitive. Avantis is still a more foolproof solution. It’s hard to mess things up. But for sound and power this is a nobrainer in my opinion.

@@joevegna Thanks for this part-2 video. Quick question - can this unit or even any of the Waves servers - use any and all the Waves plugin catalog? Or any limits? Obviously it comes with Tune Real-Time which immediately adds some value for a typical Church or even pub-location user. Is it an X32 "killer" - well, still priced above that budget level. Is it an SQ7 killer? Hmm. Avantis killer? Maybe the solo. I just think though that the church crowd will have a little tough time making it "volunteer friendly".
@joevegna2 ай бұрын
All LV1 can use basically every Waves plugin with some exceptions. However some plugins have too much latency so the might not be suitable for live. Lv1 might not be "volunteer friendly" since it's possible to mess things up. So for that reason SQ and Avantis is a good option. For everyone else I would say this is a nobrainer.

They should ditch the long fader on the screen because it already has a physical one at the console. And show the detail like a Digico S series, Allen avantis, it should be very nice.

brilliant, no need for the faders to be on the screen at all

Give me more detailed meters instead, or an option to toggle per mixer, as sometimes its nice to have touch faders on screen seperate to your faders so you have more things accessible at once. At least let me make the faders disappear per mixer.

I haven't tried it so I can't say too much about it. I guess it's a nice box for the money. Nice with a surface with a lot of knobs and faders and stuff. I kinda miss some of that on the FIT/Classic.

Some touring bands are now using the LV1 platform (maybe not this unit) for their FoH and I suppose their monitor mixing too. Just learned that popular mid-sized touring band Newsboys (Christian rock) moved from DiGiCo to LV1 a while ago.

I have the 64ch LV1 already and too many plugins to count!, can I buy this console and throw all my licenses in to it?

Absolutely. The console has Waves central installed so you can just transfer all your licenses to the console or simply have them on a usb stick and just plug in.

I think I’m going stick with my current lv1 setup. I don’t see any significant changes that would interest me. My screen is adjustable and modular so there is no need to upgrade. I do love the overall weight of this console though 😊
@joevegna2 ай бұрын
Yes I’m thinking the same. For those who start with nothing this is a great solution though.
@spick192324 күн бұрын
If a component breaks in (lets call it LV1 modular) I can simply replace that one part easily and probably have a back-up on me, the show carries on and no one knows the difference. If anything breaks on classic, I have to deal with customer service to get a new console. Plus there's the whole deal of running host from stage which makes cat redundancy a non issue as Joe proved by showing how you can pull the cable out and the show will keep running. I'm struggling to see gains only losses by switching to classic. This is really only suited for engineers who prefer turnkey consoles imho.
@joevegna24 күн бұрын
@@spick1923 You are absolutely right. The ”LV1 modular” has benefits no other console has. So I am in your corner on this one, it’s for those who want a turn key solution. Personally I’m not leaving my ”LV1 modular ” anytime soon.

How could one build a larger system with this? Buying 4 of this could work together as it would be a larger console? Or you just buy one, and add extra control surfaces and Touchscreens, IOs and Servers? How could a larger system be configured for easy use? Any data about system latency? Possible future expansion for more AUX/MON outputs for larger scale IEM Monitor mixing? Thanks :-)
@joevegna2 ай бұрын
For expansion you would have to add screens and possibly FIT controllers. You can add a bunch of io and servers just as with the old system. Latency is same as always: 0,8ms No info yet on a bigger console. But that would be a logical step. They have not released any info about bigger channel/buss counts. But as the system and user base grows I would imagine they add more of this in the future. Who knows.
@jeroddunn2 ай бұрын
The price seems nice until you show that it’s an i5 on the server. Of course, it should be pretty simple to swap that out. I can’t wait to see inside. It’s just a big box with commodity parts for the most part. The comparisons to other mixers are what waves is counting on. But they’re being lazy here. Other systems have horrible cost structures with more expensive and often proprietary components.
@joevegna2 ай бұрын
Well the upside is that if you don’t like the specs you can still build your own system. Or ad on to this one. Even with the i5 server I think the price is right.

First: Yes you can use (almost) every Waves plugin. HOWEVER!!! Watch out for latency. Some plugins can be used but add way too much latency. This is a great alternative to SQ, Avantis and in some cases Dlive. I would prefer this over Dlive in most cases. But exactly as you point out, it’s perhaps not the best console for absolute beginners. You can mess things up with using the wrong or too many plugins. With A&H it’s hard to break the system. With Waves: Yes, you can break it 😀😎
@revengernovember2 ай бұрын
what are some of the popular plugins that would cause high latency?

@@revengernovember The Greg Wells stuff. Anything linear phase. Some of the Abbey Road stuff. A lot of the plugins have a "live" version though, with low latency. But have a look on Waves website, the latency is listed on each plugin page.
