One thing this might do- prompt daw builders to compete for the best native plugins…which would be great! They could work with engineers and develop native plugins that come with your daw, and that’s it. It’d be a boon for logic, Cubase, pro tools, etc.

I totally agree and I think I am done with waves from now on. I use the MV2 plug mostly for bass because it is simple and fast. I am a Logic user and know I can use the stock compressors the same way. I have a IZotope subscription and I love it. You don't only get access to the plugin suit but also so much knowledge and education ;) its because of IZotope,s videos I came to this channel :) and hello to the wife from KZbin (Sweden)

Never liked Waves, but I got Clarity Vx because I thought it was the best at what it does (at the time). Now, I wish I hadn't.

i got used to have some waves plugins in my mixing and mastering chains (kramer master tape, nls non linear summer, bb magma tubes) and to the sound they produce. this is a bummer because i won´t pay a subscription for 3-4 plugins. since i am mainly a musician and not a mixing or mastering engineer, i am not tech-wise enough to reproduce that exact sound with different plugins, even if i am sure it´s possible... bummer

Not a good move Waves. If you have perpetual licenses and for some reason you decide you need another plug-in, when you sign up for the subscription p, you immediately loose all of your existing licenses.

Can we please stop complaining about how we don't have the choice to buy anymore? All waves have to do then is to bring perpetual licenses back ("at their normal price") and never do sales again. Either way, no one will be buying them and waves can point to that as the thing we all wanted back. The problem is that part of the buying consideration was that the update plan existed and if worse came to worse you still could get that. But now that point will be a point of no return from where on you will NEED the subscription

Pro Tools will not be the industry standard I suspect within 5-10 years , too many good DAWs, and some that are ...just better (and cost far less both in CPU and RAM and also Money than Pro Tools)

I put in question that it is the standard at all, and have for years. DAWs are used in many scenarios, not just studio recording, and I am sure most composers and similar do not use it.
