Wayne, I just tonight discovered your channel and I'm almost in tears, lying here in bed watching video after video. I'll be 45 in September, and *please* don't think I'm being arrogant when I say this - I used to actually be really pretty when I was younger. I don't know what happened; I guess just the difficulties of life, or suffering from depression, or whatever, but for a long while now I've felt so incredibly ugly. Your videos give me hope, real hope that I can be an attractive woman again. You make everything seem so effortless, and not just for you - you have a knack for making it seem accessible and "doable" for anyone who gives it a try. I don't know you, but I love you! Thank you for the (what must be) tremendous amount of time and effort you put into creating and sharing these videos with all of us. The knowledge and techniques you share are priceless in more ways than one.

I'm sorry to reply to your comment so much time after you wrote it, but I just stumbled into this video in the EXACT way you did. I'm 36 and for the first time in my life I'm taking meds for depression. I too was effortlesly beautiful but now I need cosmetic help, for obvious reasons. I really, really REALLY wish you happiness in your many years to come. Finding joy in something as silly and trivial as make up is so new to me!! I guess we're getting better at life if we can enjoy what others consider a chore. Also, I think our age protects us from going crazy with our bodies and faces. We already know how we look is not *the* most important, but our exterior should mirror our hearts that are FILLED WITH LOVE. A big virtual hug to you!!!

You have Just described me as well Stephani - I am now 48 and when I was young I was told many times how beautiful I was, but now after dealing with the hardship of life, depression, the death of my loving husband after 17 years of marriage and watching how that loss affected my son - I share your idea of the ugly self image, in addition I gained a lot of weight stress eating as my husband got sick and really did become ugly physically. Once I felt that way I gave up and stopped wearing makeup and fixing my hair, i allowed what i felt on the inside to become my reality on the outside. Some 10 + years later, I have now discovered a Makeup through a friend (Younique Brand) that I love is light and doesn't weigh my face down ( when young i never needed foundation, I just started wearing it, so a good brand was important to me) Anyway I started wearing makeup again, started fixing my hair, watching videos like these, (since may face is fatter and older - i needed to learn some new tricks) slowly I am getting my self esteem back, i am still fat, but baby steps -- I am a beautiful women inside I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN and I am worth taking the time on myself and you are too. So hang on to the hope you felt from this Video it is real - DO NOT GIVE UP. Thank you for having the courage to share your story to say how you truly feel - - you are not alone - please take my hand, look in the mirror and tell yourself you are still that pretty girl and remind her that she (YOU) are worth it! And to WAYNE GOSS - thank you for taking the time to show us in an easy and understandable way how to correctly put on our makeup and to help make us as pretty on the outside as we all are on the inside. Yours Monique

hey, if you still have that inner beauty and hope holding onto your desire to express yourself on your skin, you _are_ still a beautiful person. I am working on reflecting my beauty on my skin as well, as I am overweight, but only positive reinforcement motivates me :)

It's called aging and it happens to everyone. Even if you're a celebrity, you'll see how they start looking pulled up in their 40s because aging can't be stopped. Look at the actress Sherilynn Fenn if u want to see the natural aging process on a once stunningly beautiful woman. I think I'm just going to accept that I had my time to shine and be happy with other things about myself, otherwise you'll just have a nervous breakdown or become an alcoholic when you get older. After around 40 you stop getting attention like you did when you were young, sometimes earlier than that and it will happen to the young girls now in time, there's no stopping the double standard of how men age vs how women age.

Samanta Rizzi Hooded eyes can be very beautiful, especially if they are on younger people (hooded eyes due to old age can be wonky/irregular which is generally not considered beautiful, and also wrinkly). It's still useful to know make up techniques for hooded eyes because then it opens up all other make up techniques which you wouldn't otherwise be able to use.

I don't have severely hooded eyes- just a shape that I like to call "bedroom eyes" ;) It's unbelievable the difference this made !! My eyes appeared larger, with more dimension and lifted. Kinda funny story; I watched this video for the first time, while on a flight back home from vacation. Using this new technique, coupled with having been away for a couple weeks; 2 co-workers actually thought I'd had some type of "work" done. I was pretty flippin pleased about that.. hah! ;) Seriously, you're the best, Wayne!!

@tedoymisojos9 жыл бұрын
+Kate Hegwood Funny. It didnt work for me without faking a higher crease. It made my eyes look small and dark, and highlighted my hooded -ness. IMagine small hooded eyes, that leave significant space between lashline and brow. So the small amount of visible lidspace, is very far down. Then throw a horizontal line from the highest point of the barely visible lid space out, and fill in... You just flattened the already small eye horizontally, and left all that hooded area light. It looks awful on me.
@chatswithellein-active38399 жыл бұрын
+Liz Torres I have to fake a higher crease too. My crease is so deep there's no point in putting shadow on it. I also start a little to the inside of my highest point, and wing it up a tiny bit instead of a straight line.

Out of all the makeup vids I’ve watched, his are the most professional. Compared to other youtubers he has a non-problematic and helpful nature. Straight to the point. Concise. Explains tips and tricks that work and is knowledgeable in the field of make up and the diversity of the canvases (different face shapes) and how to bring out the best aesthetics in them. I haven’t watched his newer vids (if he has them) but watching vids from 4 years ago(this one) there is a very stripped/ honest and direct approach in his videos that I admire.

I've been struggling with eyemake up for years because of their shape. They're very large but hooded, everytime I try to find turtorials online they're too complicated, too simplified, or they spend 10 minutes in a 30 minute video talking about themselves. This is straight, to the point, no bullshitting, and actually SHOWS the technique and why it works. In my opinion I think more KZbinrs could honestly learn from you. New subscriber, thank you for finally helping me feel confident in makeup.

But now, thanks to my "hooded eyes gurus" who devote much time on this subject (you and Stephanie Lange ) I am becoming more confidient and like an expert for my own eyes. Thank you so much. I’ve never been able to get creative like everyone else with all these wonderful colors or smoky eyes. I’ve always kept it simple with a thin line of eyeliner. I look forward to trying this technique in the future. Hopefully I don’t come out looking like a raccoon. :P haha.

I feel the same way. I hate my eyes so much! I went out and bought all these pretty palettes and every tutorial I follow, I cannot do correctly. It makes me very depressed because I can't afford eyelid surgery to feel better about myself and to be able to create these amazing techniques and follow these tutorials that I see. I've cried over my eye shape. I have hooded down turned, deep set and closed set eyes. Pretty much everything wrong with your eyes to make make up difficult I have. There's barely any space to work with at all unless I put everything on the outside corner where it can actually be seen. I have looked everywhere on KZbin and I cannot seem to find any tutorials that have someone doing make up with my actual eye shape. I feel like an alien! I hope this technique works for me because I've tried hundreds with no success. I'm subscribed to every hooded eye make up guru on KZbin. It's sad because they may have slightly hooded eyes, but they still have lots of space to work with, unlike me. Sorry so long. I just had to vent. This subject makes me so depressed. I wish I could just accept my ugly eye shape, but I dislike sticking with one color. I want to get creative. 😭

Born with hooded eyes, this is the most straightforward method I have ever seen! I feel like it’s natural enough for me, rarely wear eye makeup. I really love this

This straight line stencil lesson, I show every other month. Thank you, Wayne. I love every single cell and atom who makes you who you are. Thank you Wayne! I've just gotten into makeup at 24 years of age, and I couldn't understand why my eyes looked so round and droopy with a mokey eye. The blending isn't wrong, but the shape was wrong. I just discovered today what a hooded eye meant, and why my eyeliner has always looked messed up, and why I never dared to do a mokey eye! This was a real gamechanger for me! Can't wait to try this out tomorrow and see the differene it will do to my over all look! Thank you so, so much!

Wow. I am encouraged to wear shadow again after too many years of just brow pencil, eyeliner, and colored lip balm. Thank you so much, love the eye wink at the end!

I would love to see your recommendations for eyeliner in a case of hooded and down turned eyes.most of the teqniques that work for hooded eyes are not suitable for downturned eyes that are also hooded, which happens a lot.

Thank you so much for this. I have learned more in a few minutes than after years watching neverending tutorials about how to make up hooded eyes. And your eyes are just beautiful, by the way. Thank you!!

Wayne, just found this tutorial while researching makeup for hooded and puffy eyes. My eyes are deep set more than hooded but with age the skin is becoming crepe like over the eyeballs and puffy underneath. I watched your tutorial because the eyes match mine more than most tutorials where there is lots of space between the eyes and the brows. I found it very interesting and will try your technique. The thing I was most astonished by was how the made up eye color was obviously more green than your other eye which was obviously more blue! To be honest, I found your natural blue eye "popped" much more than the eye with makeup! It just might be a personal preference, but your natural blue eyes are magnetizing!! Here's looking at you kid. (from Casablanca).

dang it, i can't find a good hooded eye tutorial for REALLY hooded eyes. your eyelids are ENORMOUS compared to mine. i mean it is a lovely tutorial, it is my eyes that are the problem.

Try Stephanie Lange. True her eyes are not that hooded but mine are and I find her videos helpful. I think maybe I need to start making videos for hooded eyes I see a lack of videos for them and mine are about as hooded as they come.

Hello :) I have hooded eyes but I looove shimmer shades. Any suggestions on how I can wear shimmery shades everyday without looking muddy & really bringing out my hooded lid?
@abbyeghba9499 жыл бұрын
+Ashley Kolb Try applying shimmer only in the inner corner and slightly in the middle, just avoid the whole led being shimmery. Avoid dark shimmer too :)

Goss, you have big eyes, and the top is close to the eyebrow. It looks good on you. I tried it on me, and it did not work. The highest point of my visible lid is too low down, so when I draw straight out, fill in and go over the lashline, it makes my eyes look more hooded, dark and small. It worked better when I drew in a fake, higher crease. Many peole with hooded eyes will barely have any visible lid space, it will look even worse on them!

This was so great! I’ve been using a pretty color of blush from Tarte as eyeshadow. I work 13 hour shifts and elaborate make up goes away quickly. So, foundation - I love Luscious Camera Stick. I don’t need concealer and I forget I’m wearing make up. I curl eyelashes, eyeliner and mascara and use my finger to pat on the blush on my eyelid and blend it out and I get CRAZY compliments. I’m going to use this trick while doing that. Thank you!
