Suggestions: 1.Plz make small videos. Instead combining ILS/VOR/LNAV, make them separate. 2. Make Simulator Trg Exercise videos. 3. Make line Trg Exercise Videos. 4. Make videos on test functions of items like oxygen test, CVR test etc. As u ve already made a few stuff on this, further focused videos as listed above subjects will bring more viewers and subscribers with ur experienced instructional capabilities. Hi, Thanks so much for the suggestions 1.Plz make small videos. Instead combining ILS/VOR/LNAV, make them separate. We have already done this, you can find them in our play list 2. Make Simulator Trg Exercise videos. Could you be more specific? 3. Make line Trg Exercise Videos. Anything specific in line training you need to see? 4. Make videos on test functions of items like oxygen test, CVR test etc. We have done this in the Sim a few times specially the CVR test, if by oxygen test you mean the masks, we can't do that as our sim isn't equipped with the masks. Thanks & Best Regards

For an LNAV/VNAV app, the APP push/button should be arm when the Final descent point (identified on your MCDU from the F/plan page) is the TO WPT (as per FCTM). You did not need to be level at 2000ft because the system is calculating a continuous descent path. Also for an LNAV app, 50ft has to be added to the minima (unlike for an LNAV/VNAV app). No need to fly a “selected/selected” VOR app, lateral Managed / vertical selected should have been appropriate 😏

Another great tutorial. Maybe you explain this in another video, if so publish the link. My question is on an Approach what is the difference between a via and transition? My understanding is the transition is the point that you leave the enroute structure to the STAR, but how do you use via?
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
We’re gonna answer this specifically in a future video for sure, but as for now, VIA is a specific point like a navigational aid which gives a reference point to an approach, like a VOR over or near an airfield which leads to a vor approach, or a specific waypoint that works as the start of an approach, TRANSITION on the other hand is as it says it’s a point that allows you to transition from enroute/airways to a star or a via point to the approach. Hope this helps. :)

Great video. Can you please make a video to explain how fly a continuous idle descent and how to recalculate the TOD according to it ? Thx
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Hello, Thanks for your Comment, We'll surely work on including your request in a future video... for now I'll attempt to answer your questions... Let's say you're cruising @ 37,000 ASL feet, you need to descend to 5,000 Feet. First, we figure out how much Altitude we need to lose (Cruise - Target = Alt to Lose) i.e (37000 - 5000 = 32000) divide this number by 1000 and then multiply by 3 (32000/1000 = 32 | 32 x 3 = 96 Nautical Miles away is when you should start your descent. If the descent is constant and you don't level off in the middle the engines should remain at IDLE during this time. Hope this helps, any further questions please feel free to contact us! :)

The other day I tried an rnav approach. Didn’t work tough. While on final is saw ‘ils’ flashing in my screen and the plane steered away from the route so had to take manual control. I didn’t use the LS system, armed approach (both AP’s) and selected the RNAV approach while planning the FMC. I got an earlier warning ‘select correct approach’ (or similar) - any idea what I might have done wrong? Was second time (landing in Darwin, Australia, Rw11). Thanks again - hope you don’t mind me asking!
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Hello, Thanks first of all THANKS for tuning in, ok onto your question, if you see “ILS” flashing on your PFD it means that you have chosen an ILS approach in the mcdu, to do an rnav approach you must ensure you’ve selected “rnav” specifically in the mcdu flight plan page under the airport you’re landing at. Keep in mind the “LS” buttons don’t activate or deactivate the ILS they simply display the ILS data on the PDF which is why we turn them off when doing any other kind of approach other than an ILS. Hope this helps! :)

Hello Captain, very good video. Learned a lot. However, I do have one question regarding your managed VOR approach. The managed approach is done via GPS waypoints, not via the VOR signal, itself. Right? You are using the VOR signal just to check if you are both horizontaly and verticaly on track.
@SpaceOdyssey- Жыл бұрын
Hello Captain, quick question. The appropriate time to set the GA Altitude is when you see on the FMA, G\S* or FINAL APP ?
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
If you're on ILS Approach when you get G/S on the FMA after G/S* (G/S* means its still in the process of capturing) on VOR ro RNAV "FINAL APP" basically when the A/C has started its decent from the "FAF" to the Runway is when you want to set the Go-Around Altitude.

@waypointsaviation6 ай бұрын
Hi Could I ask you When is it required to do a raw data holding? And what exactly do u mean by raw data holding . Is it a manual flying of the hold , or the fact that you have to perform it without the FMS , I.e. catering for the wind, and finding the entery on your own ? See unlike the ILS where a failure of FD might force you to fly the ILS magenta diamonds
@lammie-8586 ай бұрын
@@waypointsaviation Good morning thank you for the reply. It's typically asked when we get a dual FMGC failure and we are instructed to hold over a VOR. So it basically involves tuning the back up nav, using the ROSE VOR function, getting to the VOR, figuring out the entry and complete the hold, all done manually. I have made my own notes but would love to see you demonstrate that. Just found out your channels and it's very high quality work. Thanks again for your hard work.

Ils I normally have adf both switched to that I’m assuming in rnav and vor switch to vor and turn ILS off
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Hi Karl, Not really, the "ADF|VOR" switches are simply used to choos what DME you want to display on the bottom on the ND. It has no effect on the type of approach you're doing. But you are right to switch off the LS when doing another other approach other than an ILS.

@@karlos417 I take it you we're attempting an RNP for Runway 08 @ EIKN... watch out Approaches Video again with focus on the RNAV part as we cover this in detail, and ensure you're at the correct altitude before reaching the FAF (Final Approach Fix" you should see "APP NAV" on the announciator followed by "FINAL APP" if all is going well, keep in mind RNAV/RNP/GNSS are all Vertical profiles and not horizontal so there should be no reason for the A/C to not be lined up with the runway... Is ndb approach same as vor
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Hi, No, an NDB (Non-Directional Beacon) approach is not the same as a VOR (VHF Omni-Directional Range) approach in aviation. They are two different types of radio navigation aids used for aircraft navigation. 1. NDB Approach: - NDB stands for Non-Directional Beacon, which is a ground-based radio transmitter that emits radio waves in all directions without a specific orientation. - NDBs are used for navigation by providing a magnetic bearing to the station from the aircraft. Pilots can tune their aircraft's ADF (Automatic Direction Finder) to the frequency of an NDB and determine the direction from which the signal is coming. - NDB approaches are less precise than VOR approaches and are typically used in situations where other navigation aids are not available. 2. VOR Approach: - VOR stands for VHF Omni-Directional Range, which is another type of ground-based radio transmitter but provides more accurate navigation information compared to NDBs. - VOR stations emit radio signals in 360 degrees, and pilots can determine their radial position from the VOR station by tuning their aircraft's VOR receiver. - VOR approaches are more accurate and commonly used for precision instrument approaches, allowing for better guidance during descent and landing. In summary, while both NDBs and VORs are radio navigation aids used in aviation, they serve different purposes, and NDB approaches are not the same as VOR approaches. VOR approaches are generally preferred for precision navigation during instrument approaches and landings due to their greater accuracy and reliability. Hope this helps! :)
