From radial to intercept an arc use a 10% of your ground speed with a standard turn an you’ll be on your arc. To maintain is useful to let the tail drop 5 degrees down and the place it 5 degrees up and repeat it. Excelente job as always

When a waypoint has a speed constraint does the constraint go away right after it passes that point or some distance from it?
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Yea as soon as you pass through the waypoint and move onto the next provided there is no constraint on the next or a different one it changes immediately

Did you secretly put in the 2000 constraint off camera during the managed decent in the MCDU at RAV/13? ;) It said 1800 and I could hear the keys click and suddenly it changed to 2000 :) Regardless, thanks for the great video, I was really struggling with VOR approaches in the A320 and this really helped. Now it is my understanding that IRL one would rarely fly a full approach but rather vector (to the FAF if my understanding is correct). Would it be possible to do a video on that?
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Hey, It’s not a secret anymore is it?! 🤣 yes I had to put it in because in FS2020 or rather the model being used in FS2020 has a small bug where it doesn’t always pick up on the constraints unless you plug them in manually. This is something I try to combat behind the scenes :) in the real ac thankfully it works as intended. Glad you enjoyed and found the video helpful, could you be more specific on what you want us to demonstrate next?
@MrR0b3rt
@MrR0b3rt Жыл бұрын
@@waypointsaviation I understand, I guess you should always check if the mcdu restraints match those on the charts right? What I meant with my suggestion for a next video, comes from a discussion with several pilots. After discussing approaches(VOR specifically) they all said that they rarely fly the full approach but that they always vector in somewhere along the approach. Is this something you'd be able to demonstrate?
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Yeah usually we’re vectored to the FAF and then we do the descent I can demonstrate this

Hi.. could you make a video entering holding pattern n flying the hold using needles. Thank you.
@waypointsaviation

Hi, By needles you mean the VOR Rose screen? Please specify
@Iamaware111
@Iamaware111 Жыл бұрын
Yes VOR rose
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
@Iamaware111 in the A320 usually on the mcdu we just select the hold from present position or at a specific waypoint Atc wants us to hold at and it programs it in for us. We then see it on the ND and follow accordingly, we almost never use the VOR Rose. Is this something you’ve been asked to do during training specifically for the 320? Or is this a request to brush up on instrument flying?

Very instructive and well done as usual Captain! What's the practical precision (tolerance) admitted on an DME ARC ? I've red somewhere plus or minus 4 Nm which seems very large.
@mekowgli
@mekowgli Жыл бұрын
Question - when flying VOR and especially DME ARC approaches, does the aircraft actually only depend on information it gets from the VOR/DME station or does it "cheat" and still use GPS/IRS in the process. So in other words, is it still basically doing RNAV just following a track planned according to the published VOR procedure. Could it still do a VOR/DME ARC approach if both IRS and GPS were INOP?
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
It’s either or, if you choose to do it via the mcdu with preprogrammed waypoints and constraints it can, the VOR DME station is there more as a back up and reference for the pilots in there event the mcdu fails we can always fall back to using the raw data from the dme station. This is considered a Non precision approach so the more data you can add to it the better. Hope this helps :)
@mekowgli
@mekowgli Жыл бұрын
@@waypointsaviation So by default it's technically (from the aircrafts perspective, not formally) the same as an RNAV approach that simply follows the VOR/DME arc approach route? In other words of you fly a VOR approach it's not ignoring all navigation information except what it gets from the NAV radio.
@waypointsaviation
@waypointsaviation Жыл бұрын
Let’s put it this way, if you’re flying the aircraft in “selected mode” you’d be referencing the VOR/DME info from the nav radio, if you fly in managed mode then the ac can use digital info in the mcdu to navigate Hope this helps :)

1:10:36 Cap, why do we want to add a 10degree every time. Can't i take a bigger angle and create the waypoint every 30degree?

Depends from time to time and traffic inbound to the airport at the time, sometimes they’ll vector you in to final sometimes they would ask you to follow the procedure it’s all very situational. In most cases they vector you to the FAF (final approach fix) so they can get traffic in and on the ground asap

It’s from a manufacturer called Poldragonet and the one we have which is a fully functional complete cockpit can set you back almost a 100000$ or more and that doesn’t include the cost of computers, software and so on. They’re expensive but worth every penny 😁
