WBZ reporter pranked on live TV by fake spider while covering Joro spider in Boston

WBZ-TV's Levan Reid doesn't like spiders, but he was in Boston Thursday morning to cover the first spotting of a giant flying Joro spider in Massachusetts. Then his photographer pranked him on live TV.

All spiders are venomous. And large is relative. These are no bigger than the garden spiders than we have in the midwest, look very similar, and like them, are completely harmless. Even if one were to bite you, it's just a minor irritation (unless you're allergic, but that's true for any animal venom). And all baby spiders (spiderlings) "fly" by sending out a thread of silk and allowing themselves to be taken by the wind. That's how spiders spread from one place to another and it's totally normal. I mean, I wouldn't want a large garden spider landing on me either but they're nothing to worry about.
