Floridians who did not evacuate have been advised to hunker down, as the still dangerous storm moves around the state.

East Tampa reporting in Seffner Brandon area. Multiple large oak trees. Power lines just in my area multiple lines down. Sheds torn into confetti. We're in zone C so it's not a flood zone. We have standing water everywhere. We have homes floating In pounds of water. Powers out everywhere. Tried to get back to my home after staying with family. Two blocks from my house... Could not get back home because of downed power lines and huge trees blocking all roads... All I can tell you is it's devastating, just utterly devastating... 57 years. This hurricane season clearly shows how MAGA is unfit to govern or manage responsibilities. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the situation involving Milton from Utah and Tampa Bay. So they’ve designated a stadium with a fabric roof as the primary emergency shelter?
@OliverLiam-px3vx4 сағат бұрын
My prayers go out to everyone affected by Helene and Milton. My deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones in this hurricane. It’s troubling to think the government might bear some responsibility. Can you believe it? He tried to withhold aid from California during the wildfires, and now he’s blaming another administration for his own actions. And still, didn’t the Florida Governor just sign a law preventing a state agency from even mentioning “climate change”?

Prayers and love from Nashville for all those affected by these storms in the last week.
@LIFEwithBAVAN4 сағат бұрын
It's because Floridians mainly know how to deal with hurricanes. What made Helene so dangerous (or more dangerous than milton) was it hitting areas that aren't really used to hurricane and storm surges (Appalachia). It's crazy it hit that far inland. Those people didn't see all that coming.

Both of you ladies had on beautiful colors. I especially like the dark rust color dress. You both are beautiful ladies. Praying for all in the path of the storm. Now you will have to wait until the winds die down bc people can’t put themselves in harms way to go out to get your power back on. My son works for Entergy and he had a wife and two young daughters who depend on their Daddy to come home each night. And they love him very much. Resources are already spread thin from FEMA. This is why it is important to vote in intelligent leaders who know to trust experts, and heed the warning of scientists who warned that we would see more severe storms like this. Republican leaders on the other hand voted to remove funds from FEMA
@stevierubalcava59244 сағат бұрын
@@yesterdayfortoday592During his presidency, Donald Trump failed in both the preparation and disaster response to hurricanes, storms, and flooding and actively worsened conditions for Americans impacted by such weather events. He failed to adequately prepare the country for hurricanes by leaving disaster response positions open months into his term. After Trump’s FEMA botched the response to Hurricane Maria, Trump downplayed the suffering, claiming it was not a “real catastrophe like Katrina.” After Hurricane Harvey took 88 lives and caused $130 billion in damage in Texas, Trump joked that the state made a “fortune.” Ahead of Hurricane Dorian in 2019, Trump altered a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration map of the storm’s trajectory to suggest that Alabama would be hit. After the National Weather Service corrected Trump’s claim, he continued to insist that Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama. Hurricane Dorian did not hit Alabama. Trump also rolled back critical flood protections that protected Americans from rising sea levels. During Trump’s term, the U.S. saw five billion-dollar flooding events that caused $28.5 billion in damages and killed 37 people. The construction of Trump’s border wall also exacerbated flooding and threatened wildlife.

I'm in Port St Lucie FL, and most of the flooding you see on the news are coastal towns, so of course they will flood and have damage. My dads friends house was half way under water. but that's the price you pay to live next to the beach unless you build a monolithic dome house 20ft higher than everyone else. All over my town the roads were flooded briefly, then recessed quickly. The biggest damage all over South East Florida were the tornados. We had one 5 miles down the road destroy half a sheriffs office, and another ripped through a local mobile home complex, killing at least 30+ people. I'm not sure why people would stay in a mobile home for a hurricane....they're mostly older people so their children or friends/relatives should've known better than leave them in that. We only got outer bands and it was ripping pretty damn hard here for a CAT1, if it was any stronger like a 3+ we most likely wouldn't stay and we are native Floridians. Its not the wind or rain for people like us who live in CBS houses because we had zero damage to our home or property, but its the tornados. We have friends who's yards and parts of their homes were actually destroyed from the dozens of tornados that came through. A Cat 1-2 normally aren't that scary if you have a decent CBS house (And not on the beach)

asking as a Michigander but am respectfully curious. Does a hurricane like this where they are saying it'll be the worst storm ever, and it turns out not to be (thankfully) does it make you hesitant to evacuate next time they say it? i know we get our share of blizzard stuff in Michigan but hurricanes are next level for sure. i just hope someday that people DONT look at this and NOT evacuate if it's brought up again. Ii have family in those areas so nothing but respect and prayers for all affected.
