@@aolwarez You do realize it was AEW shutting channels down right? AEW isn't forcing shit...Jesus the AEW fanboys can be delusional, they didn't "open the forbidden door" other companies had done it for decades and realize its not worth it when someone gets hurt and it screws their writing, they didn't get a "win" against Smackdown, nobody cares about demos except for advertisers and, they shut down channels especially ones criticizing them just as quickly as WWE or any other company.

Can we talk about the fact that you took the time to address the very real situation with Ryan Probert's wife, discussed it in a serious tone, and actively helped his fundraising for her surgery... And you STILL made a point to slag his surname? That's some amazing dedication to a running gag lol

Honestly, how would it have hurt Goldberg's heat if he had just come out and squashed Jericho when he was already demolishing jobbers for months? @@ryankeefe6222 I forget who was telling the story, (Bishoff maybe) but they were talking about how by this time you had a bunch of guys who had grown up with Heenan and Mean Gene since the 70's when they were in AWA. The younger guys backstage thought the were icons and they all thought it was the funniest thing to try to pop Bobby or Gene without warning. It then caught on to some of the older guys like Hennig, Hall, Raven, etc who had known those guys for 10 or 20 + years who joined in. It became a point of pride to break Gene or pop Bobby. I'm assuming Raven and Saturn were trying to screw with Bobby. Bobby probably knew there was a fake Goldberg coming, but not a tall midget. And obviously Jericho with the "Gene Mean".

I actually distinctly remember that Raven/Saturn match as being a brilliant capper to a great feud. The Kidman spot is especially great 'cuz it was a legit turning point for him, and it was a great piece of storytelling. Like, the WCW version of the Flock is a little watered down and Raven didn't have complete control over it, which is why you had guys like Horace Hogan and Van Hammer in there, but the general idea was always that Raven was this charismatic cult leader who built a group around himself of misfits, outcasts and losers that he could easily exploit by making them feel like they had a place to belong, when really it was just a way to feed his own fragile ego. The whole Saturn feud was great because it took one of the guys that wasn't a total loser and had him realise he was getting a raw deal, had him push back against the group, and overcome adversity to take the whole cult down. The Kidman spot was especially brilliant 'cuz through the whole feud, Saturn had been getting punished for pointing out the truth of how shit the Flock had it, but they were all too indoctrinated and cowed for fear of reprisal to resist. Then you have Kidman going up top for another hit job on Saturn like you've seen a thousand times before up to that point, but knowing what's at stake and that Raven losing means the end of the Flock, he STANDS UP FOR HIMSELF, and turns on Raven so he had a chance to be free! It's a really great little moment that conveys a lot of meaning and the resolution of YEARS of storytelling and character development in a way you don't see too often in wrestling. It's also little wonder that Kidman went on to be the real breakout star from the Flock after that one moment of rebellion set off his face turn. The whole Saturn feud was straight out of the ECW playbook, taking a lot of cues from the classic feud with Tommy Dreamer. As the culmination of everything, the match was a real master class in long-term storytelling, and a great example of why Raven is one of the great minds for wrestling psychology, as well as one of my personal all-time favourite wrestlers. The PPV may not have been worth going out of your way to see, but personally, I would recommend checking that match out, particularly if you can get the promo package that explains all the context going into it.

So I found the spot where Bulldog lands on the trapdoor. I think it happened early in the match. So Wright shoots Davey Boy off for a back body drop, and Davey does land on his hip, but he kinda rebounds the door. I might be kinda wrong, but that’s what the internet says. Great video, more than worth the wait. Can’t wait until the next upload

See, they fell down when the fog hits because they were taken out by Warrior's aura, not his wrestling. They were crushed by his pure energy. His foke. His destrucity.

This was my first ppv! My brothers and I saved up all our Allowance to buy it, watch it live that night. I remember loving it, we recorded it on vhs, and watched it over and over again. This is the first time I’ve seen the entire card top to bottom since I was maybe 10. I honestly only remembered the wargames match. And easily see why i’ve never recalled the rest of it. Because it was shit!

I’m not so sure that’s an iron cross. It would be odd for someone who would get an iron cross tattoo to like a video podcast done by Irish dudes.

I'm pretty sure the bump at 15:06 is the one that did Bulldog's career. He says it was from a bodyslam, and that's the only bodyslam he takes in the right area. He also doesn't bounce at all and looks in pain afterwards.

Hearing my favorite Irish lads use the term "North Cackalacky" in regards to my home state has just made the remainder of my year for me. (Lawrence Joel Veteran's Memorial Coliseum was also the place where I saw Tool live for the 2nd time, probably one of the best shows I've ever attended) Cheers fellas! Whopper review!

It was definitely not made clear that this was every man for himself! I was so confused when Piper started attacking DDP, I thought he heel turned on him! What is the point of having teams if you're all going to fight each other? Just have a big tumbler and select participants at random.

@cjvaye99

this match was so stupid. you're right it didnt make sense what's the point of having teams and calling it war games if its every man for himself and it's not elimination. that's the other dumb thing I remembered it being elimination. but then of course it wasnt because WCW gave wrestlers creative control and those guys arent taking pins if they dont want to.

Great vid guys, loved it but have to say Bulldog was already a physical wreck before that match. His drug addiction was already out if control and he was bumping on his hip like Ric Flair throughout that match as his back was already knackered. Much like Jake Roberts claiming Honky Tonk Man injured his neck with the guitar shot and worsened his drug use, Bulldog used it as an excuse to continue to escalate his own.

Konnan and Disco Inferno mentioned on their podcast that everyone knew about the trap door and they’d used it already in the weeks prior.

I think that the use of the word “excuse” there is a tad insensitive. Even if you or I can’t know for certain the state of the men’s substance abuse issues at the time of their injuries, it isn’t tasteful to point and go “nuh-uh” at somebody’s addiction. Especially if one of them is dead, and can’t speak for himself.

damn i cant remember which video saturn comes out in a beret and chain link vest but i finally get why he dresses like hes in a leather bar. he was a ranger in the army. the beret and clothing options make alot more sense. leather culture and service is almost hand in hand. men brought home alot of memorabilia like uniforms which alot of accessories are leather, leather designs mimic alot of military garb and wearing it reminds them of those lonely cold nights on a mission or on deployment. i feel kinda bad for saturn with his drub abuse and what not. i suffer from ptsd myself and with most addicts, abuse sometimes feels like the only thing that keeps those memories and mind at bay. its tough no matter how much help.
