I’m still in shock. I didn’t watch much of her but knew OF her being in WCW and TNA. She seemed like a sweetheart but troubled and needed and could’ve used a lot of friendship and love. Depression is awful! Even though you physically have people around you, you still feel often time’s very much alone. It has a way of taking a stranglehold on you and trying to make you tap out. People cared about her and still do but when you’re in that state of depression it’s got you completely blinded and almost brainwashed and convinced that nobody cares when it couldn’t be any further from the truth. She was in pain and as a person coping daily with depression myself, I get it. I think though that the best she could’ve and should’ve done was accept the help that everyone was offering. Yes, easier said than done. She wanted the pain to end. We as fans and as human beings though wish we could’ve reached her before this was even a thought in her mind. We love and will miss you, Shannon Spruill aka Daffney Unger

You definitely hit the nail on the head (no pun intended) in regards to depression it’s just sad how far behind the United States is with fully understanding & knowing what individuals with depression & mental illness go through on a daily basis with how it affects a person’s psyche. Just like yourself I also suffer from depression & have 3 different Mental Illnesses that effect how I react to situations & stress. This past week for me was difficult to deal with where my brain felt like it was on overload from all the stress with my leasing office harassing me about my rent, getting & having to fill out the forms to renew my Medical Assistance as I struggle with filling out & being able to comprehend certain questions on government paperwork & then an issue at work was added to the pile to make it very difficult to get through then I heard & read online about Daffney’s passing which is so sad to hear & it just brought me back to how fucked up people can be to others in this world that are suffering. I had never seen any of her matches as by the time I started watching wrestling WWE was the only thing around, but from people who were more familiar with her from her time in WCW & TNA had positive things to say about her I just watched a very quick interview she did with Hannibal TV where she seemed like a very fun loving gal who loved the business it is such a shame injuries forced her to retire in 2011. I would not be surprised if stress & lack of empathy from the people closest to her played a part in her decision to end her life. This goes to show how ignorant people can be towards other suffering from depression & other forms of Mental Illness as like you said you can still feel alone even when you’re around other people. Speaking of ignorant people those 3 idiots that do the Keepin’ It 100 Podcast on here Konnan, Disco Inferno & the other idiot whose name I don’t know were discussing Bray Wyatt’s release from WWE & somehow the speculated topic of Bray suffering from depression from Brodie Lee’s passing was brought up (which was preposterous not that Brodie’s passing didn’t affect him but for that being a reason why they released him) & Disco & Konnan who are still suck under the 80’s & 90’s mentality of how the business works (Disco more) are clueless when it comes to understanding today’s wrestling landscape as they said back in the day if you were depressed you had to suck it up & go to work & pretend like nothing was wrong which is where the problem lies in itself as depression doesn’t work like that it’s not something that you can pretend like nothings wrong, it’s like you said it has a hold on you. If companies tried pulling that shit today of using a person’s mental illness against them for hiring or keeping on they would get sued because it’s classified as discrimination. Depression isn’t 1 of those things that goes away just like that, when it hits you pretty bad it has to pass through your system. Medication is prescribed to combat it, but talking to close family or friends, watching something funny & thinking about positive memories helps but what about in the cases like Daffney where nothing helps & they only resort is to end your own life? I really hope God will let Daffney Rest In Peace & not let her suffer on the other side because of the decision she made. Crazy I didn’t realize til just now the comment was apart of the Hannibal TV Interview I just watched of Daffney.

I miss daffney! I just loved watching her have the time of her life performing. I was disheartened learning of her passing and watching her career end on that note. I saw her go live on "that infamous night" not thinking much of it, but I went back and watched it after work and it was really hard to watch. From mid 2018 or so you could tell how much she struggled with post concussion syndrome and living as a whole, but more help should be made available. May she rest in power and may her last breath be a strong reminder mental health matters.
