it's not that people didn't ask for a prequel to The Lion King it is the fact that Mufasa reverses and destroys the world building that was done in the original. Regardless of a shit script the main reason why Mufasa will fail is because of the cost to make Mufasa. Disney has got to stop spending 200 million plus just to make these films. Combined with marketing this film has to hit over 600 million and I don't see it doing that. Some of you have pointed out that movies released in December do better in January, remember that our economy is in the gutter at the moment (at least in the United States) and January is in the best of economies the time when most families are recovering from the spending excesses of the November - December months. Many of us also have to actually pay taxes during this month as well. With all these financial stresses I don't see families shelling out upwards of $50+ for an evening at a theater for a movie as mediocre (at best) as Mufasa.

It came out the exact day of the year that Wicked did, on November 22nd, which was a Friday that year as well. Thanksgiving in 2019 was the 28th.

There was discussion before about what Disney would do nce they had made live action remakes of all their big hitters, although they have to yet to announce many titles for this, including The Emperors New Groove. Anyhow one very obvious way they can keep going is sequels to those live action remakes and another option is doing them again, this time with DEI included. Anyhow, with animated sequels, there are only so many properties of their CGI era that invite this. There is no way in heck a Meet the Robinsons sequel would float well. Big Hero 7 would work. Though that and Tangled might not be at the height of their list due to having TV shows.

Maui wanted more of him in Moana 2!! I really loved Maui’s development, and I’d love that he kept his development while they expanded on it. He felt like a loving older brother and a teacher. For Moana, she was great. They expanded on her character, and nothing feels like they backtracked, which was great. She's still very adventurous, and *spoilers*, I believe she’s a demigod now, which is going to be interesting for future sequels. And if you look at how many tattoos Maui got, maybe it could show future advances or advancements Moana could make. So, my favorite characters in this movie were obviously Maui and Moana. Heihei, Kele was my fourth very good character; he just reminded me of me from time to time, aside from not liking singing. Moana's sister was slightly annoying, but she was a cool little sister. What interests me more is what future stories you could tell with that little sister to see what she goes on to do-if it’s good, evil, or somewhere in the middle, just adding a different layer to their characters. But what I rate this movie is about an 8.5 out of 10. I personally like this movie more than the first one. However, I do feel that since this movie was a series first, and then a movie, there's a slight bit of condensation. It looks like they’re saving a villain for the next movie or potential sequel if this movie does well, which is slightly disappointing. If that doesn’t come to pass, I might revise my rating, but for now, I’m feeling an 8.5 out of 10. If I were to count all my problems, it might go down to a seven, losing three points, or even a 6.5 out of 10. But currently, I’m not feeling like lowering it; I'm okay with the rating I currently have.

Hey I've got to be honest, this movie was actually pretty good. The characters introduced are charming and fun if not a bit one note and the story works pretty much as well as the first one. I think the only thing in my opinion that this one kinda fails in is the songs. They definitely feel a bit rushed and outside of the one that the bat lady sings about getting lost, they all feel like they could have used a bit more time. I think this movie draws the best comparison with Frozen 2 in how they feel. Moana 2 feels like the better movie but Frozen 2 has the better songs.

The bat lady's song helps Moana figure out how to break the curse. It literally says something along the lines of "to solve this equation." The idea is that wayfinders are called that because they do not use maps, they sail into the unknown and discover things.

Moana 2 was like having lost time 🛸👽 Everything seems fine while you’re watching it. But then afterwards you start thinking about it and you wonder how did you get to where you are now. Because you can’t remember any details of what happened. 🤨🤔

The cash in on ip isn't new. Does anyone remember the direct to vhs disney sequels, which spun off into tv shows Aladdin being the first. Its bizzare to see them try to trickle up with an ip than down to a smaller market.next thing we will see disney try to fight gravity by jumping 😂😂😂

Watched it, if it had better music could have been a B. The animation was actually pretty good. Dwayne and au’li do a good job. Give it a C+, my 4 year old loved it

I am actually conservative and have my grievances with Disney but thought it was cute. The songs stunk but that is to be expected with Disney sequels. The premise of all the tribes need to come together was a little globalist but nothing was really that woke. The Maui/ Moana rapport is great. I saw it with a group of pre schoolers and they enjoyed it. Guess what? The film is for little kids not for adults.

Wicked was always a horrible story. It's a woes me poor female movie and with how the woke mafia and the feminism has harmed female culture Wicked is going to fail DRASTICALLY! It is going to be another Disney movie that is falsely shown as productive by Disney padding ticket sales. Wicked in nothing more the Captain Marvel 3: Captain Flee-Yulk.

I know these guys like talking about nostalgia but the truth is is they're not going to come back. They've already moved on just like in the video game industry those professionals have left the company. Informed their own company making their own games. It's the same thing with the imagineers of Disney they're gone You're never going to get them back cuz they're working for epic now. I don't think this is gonna do that badly. It might actually do good based on word of mouth and have legs. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely not as good as the original, music felt like they were trying to copy lin miranda and wasn't fresh but no where near as bad as some of the other stuff from last year. My 6, 9 amd 13 yo all enjoyed it. We had to be upfront because all screens in my area were sold out. Kids were clapping when it finished. It does feel rushed but I don't think kids notice or see it as a bad thing. I think this is going to make a healthy Thanksgiving earning. Edit: Maui was teasing moana as being a princess and she did say she wasn't a princess. Most of the theater laughed because it was 1 of a few meta jokes that broke the 4th wall

Yeah the new songs are basically imitating the songs from the original but I mean Lin-Manuel MIranda is likely doing the same exact thing with Mufasa. However yes, the movie is not as bad as these folks are painting it. Should make bank easily.

I don't even like Moana that much to begin with, I have my problems with the story, mainly that Maui achieves little more than getting "the shaming stare" and could even be removed from the plot but I don't think it really needed anything else, not even a show, the story was pretty straightforward and felt done Imagine, for example, they intend to make a Brave sequel, the original barely had a plot itself what's a sequel gonna be about? The MC becoming even more insufferable?

I have been very critical of Disney in the last several years. I'm sorry, but I just took my daughters to see Moana 2 and they loved it and I thought that it isn't as bad as everyone is saying. I will agree with many complaints that the music wasn't as good as the first. The theater was packed and most of the shows were sold out all day.

I didn’t really want to see Moana 2 but my friend and her family had an extra ticket so I went. I was underwhelmed. The songs were boring and unmemorable. I got bored after the first 5 minutes. And I was disappointed about the sorceress. I remember seeing promotionals about how she was going to be a true evil Disney villain like the originals. But then it turns out she was misunderstood. I was half hoping she had been lying to Moana and was going to come back in the end and stab her in the back but that didn’t happen. While the animation was beautiful, it just wasn’t a film we needed now. Maybe in a few more years but it really felt rushed and a cash grab.
