Even the act of saving his son was out of love, not out of a desire to rejoin the Jedi or the light side. It was a last minute, desperate attempt to save his son, nothing more. Anakin probably wanted to die, seeing as he wouldn't be forgiven, was tossed aside by Palpatine in favor of his son, knew he would die if he betrayed his master, his suit was irreparable once he tossed Palpatine to his doom, and he'd Bern living off of the dark side and his hatred, which he finally let go of.

His children were always the soft spot for him and after years of trying to get Luke on his side to overthrow the emperor, he realized Luke was more important to him than anything else. In the old table top game, force users who fell to the dark side had to make a roll everytime they tried to channel the dark side. If they failed the role, the dark side wavered for an instant and they could regret their actions for just an instant. Besides, he was still acting as a sith, it's just he always wanted Luke on his side, not the emperor.

Actually this episode does retcon the prequels. They have Ki Adi Mundi as a Jedi Master ... 40 years before he was even born. I have the pre-disney official reference material. So they're retconning his age, position, and even the lifespans of the cereans (originally slightly shorter than the average human's), just so they can make the Jedi look like even bigger idiots for thinking the Sith were extinct in the Phantom Menace.

Man, I thought the idea that Anakin was imaculately concieved or 'force' concieved was cringe worthy back in 1999 - and that is when Star Wars started to die for me. I had forgotten all about it, but the idea that was centralto the first 6 films is crazy - how was it central to original 3 when we didn't know about it until 1999. Also, I said way back in like 2006 that the prequels were so bad that they weren't even cannon - you can only imagine what I think now. I was sort of a super fan, and now I'm not really a fan at all, I just watch these youtube videos to mourn the death of something I once loved. I have 2 young boys, and I don't lead them to Star Wars at all.

I was basically out of the country when attack of the clones came out, but when phantom menace came out, everyone was super excited for the possibilities. I came back and everyone hated the star wars prequels. I saw Revenge of the Sith, and thought it was great. So with all that said, I had to cherry pick content for my kids from the prequel, so that they could still appreciate the OG trilogy and the overall story for what it is. But I absolutely agree, until you mentioned it I had totally forgot that I had the same instant reaction when I heard of it. Currently watching reviews for the train wreck at this point as well.

Want to throw this out there...I checked IMDB's website last night for the overall cast for this episode and I believe they spoiled who the "Sith" master is....they showed one actor who was not in this episode at all, but also didn't post their characters name....and I checked again this morning and that actor has now been removed from the list. So if you don't want to know I'd consider stop reading now but if you're reading on this channel you probably don't care as I don't either. The sith master is going to be Osha and Mae's mother, the head which from episode 3. It showed her being in the episode last night on the IMDB page for this episode and now it's gone so if you check now you won't see that actress on the list anymore. But yeah...calling it now....we're going to find out she didn't die....somehow.....and also somehow saved Mae....and decided to train her while also keeping her identity a secret for some reason....

The film is a Disney property, so it wouldn't be too surprising if they did use the character as the influence here. Basil, the mouse detective, was based on the actor Basil Rathbone, who played Sherlock Holmes on film from the 30s and 40s, in radio plays, and for a short stint in the theater as well. I really enjoy those movies, and they can be easily found here on KZbin. The pairing of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson is excellent.

Smylo Ren will turn out to be Leslie Headlamp's Wife the Green Lady Jedi Boss. It would be to stupidly obvious that it would be one of the 2 mother Witches, stupid if it was the Ezra Miller look alike character as we have no backstory or motivation for his character to kill the 4 Jedi. The only other character it could be is the Green Jedi Boss with some yet unknown motivation put in as a twist ending.

Ep4 bad writing elements (positive stuff below); They lost Basil? Yord asking Osha for the gun but 2min later is "concerned" for her safety? Killing a bug is bad? Yord is no longer goofy? Mae has a late change of heart once deep in the forest? Oshawa has a change of heart after repeatedly saying she wasn't going to join the mission? Jedi wookee found dead in his chair, he was totally surprised and didn't fight? Why did it smell bad in the forest at some point, the bugs? Basil is a they? Positive stuff: Forest was nice. The costumes are nice. Yellow lightsabers. Basil is a nice character.

I think where the budget went was not for just 8 episodes. But 32 of them. Based on audience reactions, picks which direction it goes. Kind of like playing “clue.” If the audience likes this episode it goes left. If they hate it, the episodes goes right.
