As we are currently stuck in an intense spell of horrible weather (well, here in Scotland anyway), I thought it would be nice to post a bit of dashcam footage I had sitting on an old SD card gathering dust on my desk. So here it is - a drive from home in Montrose to Balmoral Castle, and all on a beautiful summer's day. I hope you enjoy the drive :)

Hi, I’m Steve, a travel reviewer from Scotland. Join me on my adventures as I discover my own country, often visiting places for the first time, so hopefully it's as much of an eye-opener for you as it is for me! Don't expect expert opinion, just a very honest journey of discovery. Sometimes featuring my intrepid sidekick Alicja, sometimes featuring adventures beyond the borders of Scotland. Enjoy!

Steve as a newcomer to your Channel I am enjoying your videos. This one in particular is outstanding. The scenery is so beautiful it’s like time has stood still in the little villages along the way and the vintage buses. I cannot help thinking of our dear late Queen Elizabeth II. It is no wonder she loved Balmoral so much and chose to end her days and leave her Soul in that part of the Universe. Her Happy place full of childhood memories. The music made it all the more emotional whilst watching.✨✨

All I can say is, WOW! After watching your drive to Balmoral I am in awe and relaxed. The scenery, the weather, the music, and the two old buses. We are planning a trip to the UK maybe next year. My other half has never been, me, I grew up in Lancashire, till I was 16. Since then it's been the USA. We were thinking of traveling as far as Edinburgh, but might have to add the drive to Balmoral into our travel plans. Thanks Steve, for this awesome video. Scotland is amazing!

I remember this beautiful scenic rout Steve, I believe this is what everyone needs just now, I have emergency dental work ahead of me 🥴 it would be wonderful if this could be transferred to my dentist ceiling! Oh! to be in Scotland where my cares would melt away, thank you 🙏 for this mesmerising tranquil journey to “Balmoral” sad now that our dear Queen Elizabeth is no longer with us! great memories for me of a time long past Steve, blessings to you and Alicja from a dismal wet & windy Derby’s country side, 😊🥀🤗 “Slainte” 🥃

This was truly stunning, we were only in Fettercairn 2 weeks ago, for a BBQ /birthday party, and we were staying in St Cyrus. And what a lovely drive over to Balmoral. Had the privilege of playing the organ in Crathie Kirk on a visit, was even invited back for the Sunday service but was not staying that long - could have been playing for Her Majesty!! Loving the videos, thanks Steve

Steve, you've done us proud - this certainly is a welcome sight in such a dreich spell... All the more so for the like of me who can't drive and for whom any drive anywhere is such a rare treat! Fettercairn certainly looks like the kind of place I'd like to explore... I remember reading about the Cairn o' Mount Road in The Courier when I was about 12 - and now, 46 years later, I have seen what it looks like for the first time! I was at Braemar a few times as a child, and I did a day trip by train and bus from Edinburgh to Ballater about 13 years ago and, was then driven south along the A97 from Huntly to the A93 and Perth a couple of years later, but that's about the limit of my experience of that part of the world - mainly owing to the lack of public transport, and never being fit enough to cycle! So, many thanks, my friend - and should you ever feel like doing any more of these drives, I for one would love to see them.

Ok , Steve you out did yourself on this video. It’s nice and we appreciate your out of country videos but the ones you do locally are on another level. Nothing beats a van video through the surrounding country right out of your back door! The only traffic jam I saw were people on bicycles and lovely old buses. This video was hypnotic with the scenery and music. Just well done. Do we maybe see you guys on some fat tired electric mountain bikes some day? Could take a load off those feet and knees! Anyway, stay safe.

Lovely & what a beautiful day. The music was very atmospheric but then it started to make me feel melancholy! I looked up Balmoral, what a shame the Victorians demolished the old castle. They went round demolishing anything old, we no longer have an Elizabethan manor house here for that reason. 😢 You're furnishing me with such a huge bucket list & I'm 65 😬 🤣

The bus you followed is one of the buses that my granda would have worked on, I spotted "Alexander and son" on the rear of the bus and that's where my granda worked...at Larbert where the main garage was. Even after 65 years I can remember catching those type of buses when he took me fishing in Loch Earn. Falkirk to Callander, Callender to Loch Earn. How the memories come flooding back with the glimpse of the rear of a bus!!

At a very troubled time in my family this video offered a wonderful bit of escapism for half an hour, beautifully supplemented by the tranquil background music. Just the pick me up needed! Many thanks.

I drove a good chunk of that road early on a Sunday morning in July this , I had the top down on my MX5 warm sun beating down - pure bliss and watching this lovely film brings it all back - here's to a long hot 2023 and a chance to explore more of this beautiful landscape I'm lucky enough to live in - Steve - Thanks so much!

Ahhh sounds perfect mate! Top down is a good option to have :) Hopefully all this bad weather means a good summer to come (although that's a long way off yet!)

It’s lovely to see the beautiful countryside of Scotland,on such a nice, sunny day. This was such a nice road trip to see. It’s easy to see how our late Queen, Elizabeth 11 , loved Balmoral and the surrounding area, so much, as does King Charles11. Thanks for this great video,Steve.

Scotland is so Beautiful. We have only ever visited the west coast . Fell in love with a small fishing port from seeing it on facebook. We travelled from Italy to see it. Your video was so relaxing and has made us want to visit your beautiful east coast of Scotland. Thankyou .

Thanks Sarah! I think it's hard to disagree that 'west is best' but there are some absolute gems in the east coast as well (and the secret is that we get less midges on the east coast too) :)
