It is too expensive in comparison to some of the amazing quality 'drugstore' products available .. like ELF .. they are really giving the big brands a run for their money .. and good on them! For me their mistep is being less luxurious with their packaging. Their bronzer has this gorgeous art deco imprint on the case, as does some of their longer eyeshadow palettes, which I love, but some of their other products look far cheaper by comparison. I bought their powder and the packaging is just flat with a line drawn down the middle and her logo. The original lipstick bullets have a classic vintage look, but they seem to be moving away from that, mainly releasing glosses recently, or lipstick in less classic packaging. I love the lipstick shade Glowing Jen but I hate the leopard print tube. For me personally I want products that look beautiful and classic sitting on my vanity and not many brands offer that, so I keep going back to CT. However, if they move away from that look I'll stop buying.

@@annaf4720 you make a great point! I noticed the packaging inconsistency while working at Sephora. I honestly think makeup in general is running out of ideas. There are only so many colour combos, palettes, formulations, and so on that you can actually do. @newcamomile8 ай бұрын
I agree but I think formulation is probably the area they can still innovate more in. Also so many brands STILL have such lacklustre shade ranges - often face makeup that isn't foundation is stuck with limited shades even if they make more foundation shades. Nars blush pallettes used to be the best thing at Christmas. The artist collaborations with amazing packaging and then blushes that mixed limited edition and regular shades (and orgasm/laguna obviously) so you got a nice assortment. Now they just have boring packaging that isn't worth collecting as a beautiful object in its own right.

The benefit brow gel has been a favorite of mine for at least 5 years now. I’ve tried different brands but always keep going back to it because the color is spot on and I like how easy it is to brush through. But I agree a makeover for their packaging would make them look more fun.

I really appreciate Fenty’s slow releasing. Not everyone likes to try new products every time, most people have a small collection of products they use every day and stay loyal to, which is what many Fenty products are. Brands that keep pushing out stuff without soul - take ABH for instance - lose their “premium” factor to me and just start to feel low effort.

When you mentioned Benefit doing their vintage/pin-up aesthetic differently, I immediately thought of Soap & Glory before you even said it. I think Soap & Glory balances the aesthetic nicely with bolder colors (making pink and black the main instead of silver) and fonts, and a bit more playful vibe. Soap & Glory is just more 'fun' with it, I think. I also haven't seen much of Hourglass recently, and it used to be HUGE for a while??? I really did like their highlighter for a softer glow. I might pick it up again.

So many luxury brands are not cruelty free, mostly because they still choose to sell in China. That position is indefensible, especially when so many indie companies are managing to be cruelty free and still turn a profit. Benefit and Bobbi Brown are not cruelty free and there's nothing these brands sell that you can't find a cruelty free dupe for. I just picked up the W7 Honolulu bronzer in Original. It's an exact dupe for the Benefit Hoola, costs $5 or less and it's cruelty free and vegan!

I honestly was thinking of Colourpop at first, but I've been really glad in the last 6 months or so that they've taken a step back with the constant releases and collabs, and instead when they have released something it seems to be along the lines of reformulating or repackaging. They make some really incredible products but I got sick to DEATH of them doing a collab with every single possible Disney franchise when all I really wanted was an extension of their shade ranges on their already existing formula with their regular packaging. I might be alone in that desire but I really hope that their future releases will be just that!

2 or 3 years ago I ordered an absolute haul from tarte because there were great holiday deals. I have to say it turned me off of tarte entirely. The first and most glaring thing to me was the cheap and visual unappeal of the components themselves. You could get a more polished compact from Revlon or Cover Girl. They applied stickers to the mini shadow pallets off-center. The lipstick tube components felt light and cheap. The shadows were hit and miss but one of them was a bright rainbow assortment and I was shocked at how hard they were to get color payoff with. When I was a teen in Saphora, tarte was a magical brand to me. As an adult it's a waste of money.

I haven't bought Benefit/clinique/estee lauder/etc in literally YEARS. I think all these brands don't really care anymore about doing anything earth shattering. They're relying on people like me to buy one or two products consistently and that's kind of sad. The quads have been the same for years and anything new is a pillow talk spin off, which is basically pink. I"m over pink eyeshadow. lol ok, I'm done. Thanks Robert. I am so glad SOMEONE is saying this! Designer brand cosmetics have ridden on their names for way too long, and have been sleeping on the fact that new brands, and a lot of indie brands have crept up behind them and stolen their thunder on the trends and quality (especially on eyeshadows), and there a lot more affordable options for concealer, highlighter, blush and lip products at a fraction of the designer prices. The only spot where I have not been able to get away from designer product is foundation, dammit. Tom Ford, Guerlain, and Chanel make the best foundation for my old, very dry and sensitive skin, and I have not been able to find a cheaper alternative that works as well (I won't bore you with the list of what I've tried in the alternative). And CT has made nothing but peach, bronze and beige products for years and only this year has started making truly pink blushes etc. So, you've ignored us pink girls, it's time for us to ignore you.
