They really maintained the house and kept it very clean. The cleanest house I've seen this far. Only cosmetic changes were necessary. I'm happy for the couple.

I cannot believe they got rid of that dining room light. It was an antique that went so well with the stained glass window and details of the house. I yelped when I saw what replaced it.

I never tire of Sophie and the spruce-ups she does to get the house in "sellable" condition. I keep watching them, hoping to get motivated to spruce up my own home a bit (although not planning on selling, it needs updating). So far, it hasn't happened, but hope springs eternal in the human heart!

This is the best house I’ve ever seen on this show I’m shocked it hasn’t sold short of a tiny bit of decor needed. Tiny kitchen is an issue for sure

Kitchens are overrated and overbuilt these days. I own a 3 bdrm house and find a kitchen that size completely adequate. I took out half my kitchen cabinets...it’s not like anyone needs a large space for canning, etc any more.

I’d love to know how many of these houses actually sold after Sophie has changed them. I’ve watched many of them and Sophie contradicts herself all the time. Clearly the kitchen is the reason for this house.

finally a home that is clean tidy and uncluttered! also well maintained. too bad it didn't sell. I think the only thing that needed upgrading was the kitchen....why do they never show bathrooms in this series?

Sofie always puts curtains in. They're not necessary. In fact, curtains and blinds are many times taken out--or at least completely opened up--to let in more light. Bright, sunny rooms help sell a home. Plus, her curtains always look cheap. The tile backsplash in the kitchen is poorly done.

Agreed
@thornyback

Most shows also forget to iron the curtains so they don't look so cheap. Add a chain to weigh them down at the bottom and they'll look like they're made of a much more expensive fabric.

For once I hated the comparable house!! Their home the way it was with maybe a bit more decor was so much better, imo. I always feel that if the comparable house was the house she needed to “fix” she would pick it apart, too!!!

I gave up trying to like the dining room. Cold and unappealing. Those plastic chairs belong in a school cafeteria. I liked the master with the added storage.

I liked the addition of the new light fixture and the "wine bar." The new table and slim mod style chairs fit the space better than the clunking looking former table and chairs. What's needed is a couple of splashes of color on the walls in some art canvases. Those silvery thingies are too small, they have zero impact and add no color at all to the space.
@mapatterson173

I loved the first DR table and chairs. They were perfect for the home. I’d have picked up the red in the stained glass window; added some transitional feeling artwork; area rug; set coordinating colors on the table linens-not too muchArtwork’ recover any fabric seats, with an accent for the window. That small sun porch was lovely, a perfect place for morning coffee, afternoon reading or playing cards in the evening. It could have set the cozy mood for all the house. I wonder where the source the new furniture they use in the show.

The house showed well before the redo, it was the kitchen that was a problem., it needed a complete remodel so the selling price needed to reflect that. Problem solved. (BTW the over sized dining room table didn't do them any favors).
@maryloumawson6006

I'm not buying it. Their original price was $30,000 too high. Then the team spent $4,400 on a make over, and they still didn't achieve the amended asking price. I like the new cabinets and tile in the kitchen, but she kept saying that it added prep space. How? It's narrower than the old hutch, which makes the space feel more roomy. But I wouldn't want to work on a one foot wide counter.. I'm not sure that part of the make-over was worth the effort. Plus, they never talk about parking. I understand there's little one can do if there's not much parking in the area. But it's a BIG thing for buyers, and needs to be overcome if it's a draw-back. It's something this show never mentions. But it has been a big consideration whenever I've considered buying a house. I've passed on many because of it.

why is there a wall between the sink and the stove I would never buy a house with a kitchen like this
@peachesdixon7567
@peachesdixon7567 Жыл бұрын
The stoves create heat as does the electric refrigerator, likely, they were originally in a tiny, separate room, with windows and a rear door entrance. No A/C when this house was built. There may even be a brick wall between the hot area and the sink/house area for fire prevention. The sink area was for prep and storage of cookware.

That’s a good question. My husband is lukewarm about this show, because they don’t always say if the house sold; how long it took to sell it; , or if the owners got their asking price. In this episode they did, but the info is sometimes missing. We aren’t trying to sell, but I almost always like Anthony’s practical solutions. Okay, and Sofie wears some amazing clothes. 🙃.
