What about the Budweiser Clydesdales commercials? I know they weren’t geared towards children but those horses were iconic and the theme song, too! The wagon they pulled was decked out in Christmas and their gear was as well. Loved those commercials. ❤️

Yes, Ronald McDonald is supposed to know magic. He's done magic in his commercials both back in the day and modern-day. The Hershey's Kisses and M&Ms ones were the only ones I remembered. I also remember a Christmas-themed Campbell's commercial where a snowman goes into a house and melts into a little boy after eating some chicken noodle soup, which didn't make it into this video. That one was a classic.

The Ronald ones.... HAHAHAHAHA...i remember them all and he was portrayed as the bestest friend from McD's you could ever have and yes, he did magic, and none of the commercials were creepy waaay back when.

But Ronald McDonald was around before pennywise, so King based pennywise on Ronald.

First, if the Coke polar bear ads were honest, after the bear took a big drink of Coke he would have let out a huge burp. McDonalds should bring back Holiday McNuggets and I will die on that hill. "Oh yes, you'll float. Everything floats in McDonaldland!"

"He is serving up his friends to Santa as a sacrifice" "This commercial has been ruined for me now" says the guy who said the polar bears are extinct Fun fact: The voice of the yellow M&M is JK Simmons, the voice of Omni-Man from Invincible, J Jonah Jameson from the Spider-Man movies, Emil Skoda from Law & Order, and Tenzin from Legend of Korra. The Hershey's Kisses bells one was too iconic to change honestly, though I like the new one's message.

There wasn't just Ronald, there was the Hamburglar, the Quarter Pounder was a Sheriff or something, the pack of fries sang and danced way before there were nuggets of any kind, and there was Sir Shakealot. Good times. My Grandmama used to get us a McDonald's coloring book calendar that had a coupon for something every month. Yay! Loved the rest. Yes, Fruity Pebbles still rocks! Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Festivus for the rest of us!

If you grew up with Ronald McDonald in the 1970's , you'd understand he was more a child's advocate, rather than a horror figure..of course this could just be a ' southern thing, ' because the south has always had issues. For example the Dozier school for boys in Florida .

It's really disappointing how people just trash the McDonald's commercial. I think it has a lot to do with people popularizing hating and fearing clowns. And people being a bit more negative and cynical. People are less trusting and suspicious. As a child of the 80s and teen of the 90s, Ronald was considered silly and fun. I think it creeps people out too because he's not so much a part of the brand...so, naturally it feels off.

Maybe it's the cynicism but the newer Ronald is creepy. Classic Ronald was just fun. Except maybe for the nugget kid cannibalism.

I agree! I bet it was an age thing. I assume I am older than most of the hosts and was in elementary school in the 80's. It was always known that Ronald McDonald was magical. I never felt creeped out by him. In fact, my 7th birthday party was at McDonald's in the playplace. It was amazing!
