I never thought it was a cliffhanger. I thought they knew the show was being cancelled and this was their way of saying it. The world fell apart because The Amazing World of Gumball was cancelled and Rob was trying to make everyone human so they could continue to live after the cancellation.

Sure it kinda was a cliffhanger but I see it as a cliffhanger for just in case if they get cancelled or get renewed for a 7th season or even for a movie. It's also kinda meta where a cartoon character knows their world is a TV show thus is ending soon due to cancellation so they try to save the other cartoons by trying to be normal to try and trick the void thats keeping them there to escape that world from being erased from existence!

It's ironic how Sarah describes Gumball as having the "power of optimism" but in The Faith, he's depicted as the most cynical and mean-spirited resident in all Elmore (at least where Alan is concerned)

It wasn't actually a break, but the end of the show. Because one of the creators was working on releasing a new different show after finishing Gumball. The Darwin yearbook and gumball chronicles came as specials for fans. But since many fans has demanded a new season, and it gained a new fanbase too, they decided to revive it. The ending was actually awesome and made perfect sense imo. I mean, what other show makes its finale on breaking the fourth wall and being self-aware. The show is falling to the Void. Where all the characters stop existing.

So considering that movie has already been "cancelled", I think it would be a kick to the gut if they were also going to cancel season 7.
