loved this vlog. Brought back memories of when I discovered pitting on my boat! As I had relatively bad pitting to sides below waterline and baseplate, especially stern baseplate... Had the bad pits puddle welded to avoid overplating, which both my surveyor, welder and myself all wanted to avoid. Along with two pack epoxy on sides and baseplate (which I can't recommend enough, as it's sets so hard over bitumen based paints) to fill in pitting and give better and more long-term protection, I feel the boat has had a new lease of life after welding and epoxy. Don't let pits get you down, I know it makes you think the worse, having them all over, but my welder said you get them on all boats pretty much, and mine wasn't the worse he'd seen by far. Although saying that, my parents bought a narrowboat just after I had mine, and they don't have a single pit! Got lucky I guess. Im in a marina which isnt great for boats apparently, as the stray currents can cause pitting if your boat is exposed or suseptable to galvanic corrosion. Most folks here at the marina say they've all got pitting of some degree, so think it's just one of those things that comes with older boats, boats that haven't been blacked when they should have been and boats sitting in marinas for the majority of their life . Anyway, just wanted to share my experience.
@BoatTime2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing Luke! That is really reassuring and glad you were able to get it sorted. I think if we keep on top of it now all should be okay! 🤞🏻 Yeah, the boat before we had it was in a marina all its life so thats probably where our pitting came from! Thanks for watching and happy boating 😊

Great Vlog. You did a great job capturing the up and downs of having a time schedule and having the weather working against you. Love the expressions on your faces. I couldn’t help but laugh, but I am sure if it was me, I would have been shaking my fists at the heavens. Hopefully……the continuation is sunshine and a finished blacking. Amazing job and she's looking great already! You had a right todo with the rain! It's a bit late now but if you mix old, used coffee grounds with liquid soap and use that to scrub your skin it helps get stuff off without being too abrasive. Know what you mean about the boat not moving. A while ago I sailed to Shetland which was about a week offshore on the way there but when I got to Lerwick Harbour I went to have a shower and the cubicle felt so strange that it seemed like it was rocking around and I had to get out and get back on the boat. I remember feeling really sick until I got back onto the boat and then felt fine again. 😊

There's a product called GOJO. It's available in the UK. It's just a few quid but worth it for icky greasy hands. You can use it on the face, but be careful to not rinse stuff into your eyes. I close my eyes and wash my face in the shower. I'm still young and pretty. lol I can get oil and grease all over working on engine bays and cleaning projects. Been using it for the better part of 30 years without fail.

Did you rename her while she was out? Hope it all worked out with all the rain……this is my luck exactly, if anything can possibly go wrong it will. For instance, last weekend the whole upstairs family( daughter, husband and 2 kids) were away and my exciting plan was to wash everything that I often put off because they are always doing laundry and I don’t like getting in their way. Before they left they were doing laundry and washer was acting up, granddaughter kindly cleaned out all screens to make sure it would work for me…..😳first load flooded the whole laundry room and storage area where some things were packed in cardboard boxes on the floor🫣. I have arthritis so by the time I sopped up buckets of water, repacked boxes, set things out to dry, discovered the floor was quite dirty🤢and finally sat down I was in big time pain. 😢 Son in law was due home next day so I decided to make a pot of lovely soup only to discover my potatoes had gone bad, liquid , with horrible stink and had run under all the bins to sort garbage, soaked broom, dustbin, and a feathery cat toy🤮it was awful. Finally son in law came home, fixed washer and I got a bunch done but was in too much pain to take down curtains, get all extra bedding out to refresh in case of company…….like that ever happens.😂🤣 So yea that’s my luck, if I’d tried to fix washer myself I’d have no doubt broken something that destroyed the machine for good. Hope your luck has improved and blacking a success🥰🤞👍🏼🙋🏼♀️
