Wow, fantastic job, those foundations will be excellent for your "two poster". As usual, this job so far carried out with ultimate precision. Nothing wrong with having your lift in the driveway, I think it will give you a lot of flexibility in doing your LandRover stuff. Christian and Vera, I agree with Vera lift in the driveway especially if the vehicle isn't working, why make extra work for yourself in putting it out back 1/2way to Australia🤔 You mentioned not being able to put a roof over the lift working area, how about then an awning like on the side of a caravan that you mount at the appropriate height when vehicle is on the lift. You can pull it out from the building, so you have working cover and push it back when finished? Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺

Another brilliantly executed job.❤A bit of research and bravery and you can save a fortune on so called professionals. I built an extension on our kitchen around 8 yrs ago with very little experience. The structure rests on a concrete raft of 300mm with a central 150mm mesh( A393) core with 50mm of concrete cover over all mesh ends to prevent corrosion. When I looked into concrete curing, keeping the concrete surface moist for around 28 days was critical for the raft to cure and produce 2 calcium compounds for longevity. You can get a product called concure that you apply and this regulates the moisture release if you carnt water the surface. I dont think in your case any of this would of been necessary as its more about down forces and mass! Just thought I'd share this bit of information and what I researched before digging out 36 tons by hand into buckets!!! And you thought Germans were mad!!!

Lovely job. You could have always put another garage door in the rear of your garage wall and then put the lift where Christian wanted 😱it but as you say, that's where you repair cars anyway so it's the logical place where you have out it. I got myself a portable scissor lift for my home repairs. It means I can use it in the garage or put it outside for any body off jobs which I will be doing soon on my D3. However, I also fancy a 2 post lift and for the cost of a second hand one I'll probably get one too. 👍I wondered whether I could then fabricate a lightweight tent like frame over the lift supported on the post that raises when you raise the vehicle, with excess material on all sides that drops or folds out as you lift the ramp keeping you dry 😁👍I am sure Christian will be making something like that on his lathe soon 🤣🤣👍

The only thing to check on these lifts is the condition of the lifting nut. I believe there was a time when these were manufactured WITHOUT a safety backup nut. So if the nut wears out the load could unexpectedly drop. With the safety nut the lift will still function but only allow the load to lower. I look forward to Christian showing us how it works :). I use one side of a lift like this in a CNC machine for cutting stone. It will move 20 tons with ease, but I use it horizontal so don't read too much into that. I also look forward to the winter time videos where we hear about all the various rules and regulations that prevented you from raising the roof on the garage, forcing you to work in freezing temperatures :)
