We Bought Another Beechcraft Bonanza F33a SIGHT UNSEEN Cheap!

We bought a 1988 Beechcraft Bonanza F33A sight unseen 500 miles away from home. We got a great deal on this plane so couldn't pass it up. Our good friend Owen (@FlyWithOwen) flew it home for the first time after sitting for a bit. Yes, we still don't have our licenses and are still training. This plane will be perfect for some upgrades like paint, interior, avionics, tip tanks, turbo, etc.

I think that you should keep the tiptank bonanza, I know there's not much more you can do to it but at this point get your licenses and just fly it for fun, the paint scheme is amazing and 4S is an amazing plane

I’m an owner of another ex-Lufthansa F33A. I’m getting it repainted early next year. And I’m going to repaint it exactly the same. The high-visibility yellow really helps with traffic recognition.

Annoyingly they don't include this is the video: That is an ex Lufthansa training Bonanza. That aircraft was listed as having around 15,050 hours TTAF. Engine was listed as having approximately 1137 Hours since overhaul. The listing for the aircraft was asking $99,500. So it's less than half the price of their other Bo. Interestingly, the sister ship to this N1569P was listed at 27,000 TTAF so these training aircraft have crazy hours and it gives an idea how rugged the airframe is. Personally hate when this type of information is not shared. Just seems shady and not transparent. Otherwise I appreciate the content as there aren't many people that put as much effort into editing, scripting, or in general production value as these guys do. Just wish they added the technical details that makes videos much more useful and fascinating.....for example cruise speed and fuel flow differences between the two Bonanzas they have. Insurance rate differences. Financing differences. That sort of thing.

Get a avionics switch installed to switch off the G5 before starting

Definitely a 2nd G5 or maybe a GI275 for the horizon and then move the G5 down to be the HSI. Also maybe a GTN650/750 as a GPS/TX combo??? Combine radios, GPS, TX, ads-b all in one location and then some sort of better engine monitoring system too would be cool.

Wow, this is great! It's been 2 years since this video came out, but I wanted to react anyway! I just stumbled upon your channel looking for other aviation related information and quickly recognized the paint scheme. As suggested by a couple of other people here it is indeed one of the former Lufthansa flightschool aircraft and I actually flew this very airplane in the beginning of 1996 when I was a student pilot. At the time it was based at Ryan Airfield, AZ (KRYN). Great to see it again! No Garmin equipment at the time though... ;-)

You have to incorporate the Beech logo or “B” somewhere on the new paint! Even if you don’t go crazy with new avionics, a freshly painted panel goes along way!

G,day from Sydney Australia. Nice Bonanza, congratulations. When you said it just went through annual, did that include calibration/testing of steam gauges, gyroscopic and pressure systems in the panel. If yes, my opinion would be to 'just fly it'.... isn't the GA market and valuation up high? Sometimes I think .... Those old blokes that push their plane into the hanger or shed: for whatever reason, and cover it and the engine with sheets. Then twenty years later, bingo there's a plane covered in 1/2" of dust with birds nesting in the engine. 🤔🐝💨

That yellow Bonanza looks like a former Lufthansa flightschool trainer, because of the paint scheme. This one has a lot of potential. I would put a Garmin G3 X touch ( both sides)in there, also a GI 275 or leave the G5 as a backup. GFC 700 Autopilot. Paint to me silver grey blue. Inside beige leather. Blue stitches and diamond shaped design. Well go for it to make the people speechless with that Bonanza. Good luck. 🍀👍

Not a fan of the Piper Cub yellow. I agree with painting it similar to your other Bonanza but make it a deeper shade of blue with some pearl in it, same with the gold. Having worked on and painted Bonanzas a lifetime ago, love those planes. I think I'd also relocate those switches behind the crossbar on the yoke. Still looks like you have to reach over or under for access. Go for a full glass panel like Guthmiller's. What good is money if you don't spend it.

I would do a new paint job, the yellow is dated. With some tip tanks, modernizes avionics and paint job you should be able to have a very nice plane that you can sell for a nice profit. Love the way you guys work. It. Keep up the hard work and you’ll be in a jet before you know it.🍀

that was based at my home field KHRL as a federal seizure. I almost bid on it but didn't have time to bring it back up to spec. I got to see all the guts during the annual :). I should have asked Milton to let me know who was purchasing it and I would have met you at the field.

Ditch the yellow. Since you like turning airplanes, go with a paint scheme that is a bit more mainstream for resale. Using a modern Bonanza paint scheme will make you plane look even newer than the late 80’s.

I wouldn’t fuss with a hack job on the panel. Do it all or nothing. 2 G3X touches. You already have the G5 as a backup. Just add a GNX375 and Garmin autopilot and bam you’re done!

And since you are into custom…. Have a panel cut. If you angle the radio stack, it should be seamless - not screwed on. Add some cup holders in the panel. Checkout panel pics on beechtalk for ideas. GFC500 AP + YD for that wagging short body would be nice too.

I normally don’t comment. Flying in Arizona you most definitely need a turbo charger. Flagstaff, Payson, Grand Canyon all have extremely high density altitude‘s in the summer. I just don’t want anybody to be misled by this video.
