We know you’ve all been anticipating this greenhouse build for some time!!! Have any of you seen these domes before? Thank you all for being patient with us as we took a week off to heal my ankle and we’re back at it. We’re BUILDING our dream greenhouse that will provide enough food for us throughout the whole year including the cold winter! What type of fruit tree would you try to grow- lemon, avocado, orange? 🌱💛

Consider the supply chain challenges Canada has had over the past several years, which are likely to continue for the foreseeable future. In the produce section of a grocery store, you are likely purchasing fruits and vegetables from monocrop farms, and were transported thousands of kilometres; loaded and unloaded a dozen times or more. With the right tools and techniques, you can enjoy tropical foods in your backyard, even in Canada, even in Winter!
@mochibear89332 жыл бұрын
I helped someone build one years ago, they designed it themselves, it had a pond in too. Lime tree, aloe Vera, fruit or nut trees that don't survive your growing season outside. Though light may effect some growth for some & not great. Your favourite foods. Something you are excited to grow you get the most joy from.

A frozen Margarita tree. Your cabin and garden looks beautiful. Hard work definitely pays off. Have you both thought about doing a cabin calendar? January could be Jaz holding a power tool, February, Bella in a box, March, the tree that looks like its been run over. Honestly, you could be on to something. Fab video, I can now carry on with my dusting

TIP: After awhile, especially if you've had some windy days, go around and recheck the bolts, retighten if necessary. You can also take a marker or make a scratch running from the bolt to the plate so you can see if any of them are coming loose.

This takes me back to helping my 72 year old parents build a 22 foot diameter Arctic Acres dome in summer of 2021. They did all the pad preparation in 40° (100°) weather. We started working from 5am to 10am and then 6pm to 10pm. No other way to survive the heat. All three of us are perfectionist and instruction readers but I have learned when to stop measuring and just get out the drill. We too were so grateful to have spent so much time and energy on site prep and leveling. It cannot be said enough how much of a difference it makes. Have fun with the seam taping. You will need at least a litre of isopropyl alcohol. It can be hard to get sometimes so get it early and get lots. And get your hands on three ladders to use while applying the tape. Trust me on this, it makes it so much easier and safer. And a shop vac is great for blowing stuff out of the polycarbonate before you tape it shut forever.

Another great video! A tip for winter snow is to permanently wire in 2 to 3 cheap jigsaws with their bottom plates attached to opposing 2x4's on the dome. The switches on the jigsaws should be permanently set to "On" and ideally a power line "on/off" switch should be run to the cabin. The jigsaws will generate enough vibration to remove any snow build up from the dome. I hope that makes sense???

You two are simply inspirational! Crystal, so glad that you took the time to heal and that you are taking things at a smart pace! Very wise. Keep being a perfectionist and keep reading those directions! There are few things worse than getting 2/3rds the way through a project finding out that you have to start over again because you hurried through the process and missed a critical step or didn’t take the time to make things ‘right’. Being thorough may feel like it takes extra time but compared to having to start again or end up with a less-than-functional project it is worth the time. And Jazzy, you are a BEAST!!! (In the best sense of the phrase!😉🥰) Especially for taking care of Crystal and STILL getting so much work done!! You two young ladies are simply amazing. Your videos are the only videos I watch every Sunday no matter what I have going on. I actually get a little bummed out when you don’t post like a few weeks ago. Anyway I love you two, you are an awesome Couple/Team that are an inspiration to all your followers. Stay safe and healthy and keep doing the amazing things you do. Crystal I hope your ankle is doing better. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Such ladies are such a tease...I so thought I was going to see the finished project, now I have to wait a week. Okay, I will try not to think about it between now and then so I can be surprised. Seriously, the dome looks great and I like the panels idea, it seems so much more durable than the plastic sheeting on domes intended as a living space, also seemingly much easier to install. You girls ROCK! Crystal, I am glad you ankle is coming along and thank you Jazz for taking such good care of her and the daily duties while she was recovering.
