This is SO Awesome! I'm very impressed with how great you all worked together "clicked" and put out some good quality work this time, so so awesome. I so enjoy coming along in your journey, it actually made me cry today. My husband is a builder of 40+ years and we used to work hard together so good and to make life happen for us and our 3 boys, which are grown and gone now. You actually reminded me of "us" for a moment, this video took me back many years ago. We have aged these days, up in our 60's, less energy, don't sleep good, ache a lot but I crave a lifestyle with more acreage again, we only have 3 acres here and can't have anything besides a garden, because of the rules and covenants, no freedom. I dream of doing it one more time, to find our forever home with freedom. At the moment I'm living through you again and I thank you for sharing everything with us. I'm very thankful for your friends that helped this weekend, awesome friends. Keep up the great work.

Don't give up on your dreams, I hope you will be able to fulfill them by finding land with more acreage. I'm 58 and my husband just turned 70. We are getting rid of most of our stuff in our house to put house up for sale. We bought a class B RV, and my husband should be retired hopefully by November. Then, God willing, we will hit the road, just like the Hollar's did, searching for a State and place with acreage to call our homestead.

Love watching you and DIYfferent both remodeling older mobile homes and turning forgotten homesteads into working homesteads again. I don't know if you've thought of it or if it's come up but you may want to check into having that trailer leveled before you finish it out with underpinning etc. Things are looking great! I wish I had known chickens were so useful when I had them as a kid!

If you are planning on living in it for a while I would suggest pouring a footing and then using cinder blocks to create a foundation to bolt down to. This would also allow you to lower it closer to the ground , keep vermin out and provide some insulation. Looking good though.

Hi hollar family. Congratulations on your great accomplishments! However I have 1 great concern regarding you mentioning using pex for your plumbing!! Please research PEX material! It is known to leech unhealthy chemicals into the water! I know of some plumbers who are strongly against using it for drinking water lines. Please research it a little more for your own long term health.

Berkeloid you waste money, materials and so much time with lack knowledge. Its better to pay someone who knows what they are doing to help you do the steps in the correct order, there are people with building experience who would be glad to do that by the hour. In the long run you have learned life long skills, have so much less stress and your project is on schedule. I don't think paying someone for four or five hours of their expertise will put anyone in debt

@@maltipoosoffgrid6868 Apparently then you're lucky enough to be one of the wealthy 1% of society who are able to drop a few hundred bucks to get something done quickly, but unfortunately the majority of people around the world aren't so financially comfortable. For many folks, paying someone for five hours of their expertise will cost them well over a month's worth of savings so if it takes them two weeks to do a five hour job then they're still coming out ahead. They can save that cash for other things they really can't do themselves, giving them more value from their limited resources. When you're doing something like this that requires expert opinions every single day, the cost will quickly run into thousands so yes, the average person living paycheck-to-paycheck will end up in debt.

Please oh please don’t stop working on the outside! Get the siding on that house before the weather changes! The materials you put up are not meant for long term exposure to weather conditions. Awesome weekend job! Plumbing vents and drains thru the floor/roof. Insulation under the floor, then the skirting to block the winter winds and snow. Then when thats done the inside can be rocked out very fast. You should be in by Christmas! What a wonderful gift that will be. Heads up you have been doing a lot for other people. And putting your own needs on the back burner. Glad to see you took this weekend to do for you. You are still farther along than I would have been if it were my homestead so be very proud of all you have achieved!
