Brian and Emily, I’m lifting you all up in prayer tonight. I’m currently in Houston at MD Anderson with my mother. She completes her cancer treatments this coming Monday. It’s been rough watching her go through each step toward health, but we have seen God’s hand move on our behalf and felt His presence all along the way. I pray you will too.

Praying for Emily’s dad. It sounds like he has been blessed with lots of love so that tells me he is a great dad and husband. Praying you all know Christ and walk in His Word. Don’t be discouraged with the trees. If they don’t make it you can plant more and this time you will realize what damage cows and sheep can do… so you will protect them. They are like the imperfections in your building, you won’t notice with time. Unlike our loved ones who, when we lose them we always grieve. So hold them dear and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Praise the Lord that your father-in-law's procedure went well! 🙏🏾 It's always tough when a family member has health problems, but these kind of victories and blessings always bring encouragement. I'm glad to see Emilie on the video. Thank you for sharing that motion-activated sprinkler. I didn't even know those existed. I'm going to need to get me a couple to keep the cats out of our garden. They are such pests.

Try painting the trees with tar to cover the debarked areas. I remember a neighbor doing that when I was a kid. It gave the tree enough time to recover. Then maybe protect them further with large pvc pipe ? Prayers for Emilie’s Dad. ❤

Brian, as for piecing in the hay box lid, MEH. If we can't handle the little things, we'll never deal with the big things. I've had similar results on projects. I still see them, but they quit 'bothering' me 20 years ago. Healing prayers for Em's dad. Comfort prayers for Em, mom, and sis. Strength prayers for you to be the rock they need.

I'm having the same problem, but with wild deer. I had to put a hogwire fence around my peach trees to protect them. They are barely hanging on to life. I am hoping spring brings new leaves and growth. My chickens are now old enough to start laying eggs, just in time for the non egg laying season. LOL. Most of my garden is doing great. However, I had to pull all of my Dutch Cabbage do to fursarium wilt. I have an experimental crop of Napa Cabbage growing in another raised bed that is now the replacement crop. Gotta love it when plan C works. Plan B was replacement transplants of Dutch Cabbage. Both sets of transplants failed before I could identifdy the problem.

First Prayers for your FIL and the entire family. Patchwork and using what you have is the ultimate definition for homesteading. I think it looks great. It does the job that you need it to. You could always use a little silicone to fasten down the corner to keep it secure. Easy to remove later, if needed.

Lifting up the whole family 🙏 I know it's hard on all of you. The trees that are stripped bark, If you want to try and save them, try painting them with tree wound dressing. Comes in what looks like a paint can. Just paint it on with a brush. This could save your trees. Thanks for another great video! You're a hard worker and your place shows it!

❤ thank you for sharing. You have been given this terrific platform to share the example of your life with others. In reference to your barnyard problems, perhaps you’re realizing that that’s why you don’t see many trees in barnyards, especially young ones. You might consider a slight deficiency in your livestock feed. you may consider if there’s a pattern to the time of year that they seem to desire to chew on wood. I know birch tree saplings are desirable, of course I’m referring to cuttings thrown in. You might consider, while the trees are small, to transplant them outside of the barnyard, if you have a suitable location. Outside the fence, if suitable, could provide some shade for your animals. And the prayers, I’m certainly praying for you and the family. Do you know, just like you’re learning on the Homestead, you have much to learn from your experiences, in life, and what that process should signify to your faith. Our mortality is certainly not in our control, but true faith points us to the One who is. I am in no means discounting, the trauma and feelings for a sick loved one. Life is a process, and you have been blessed to be in a position to not only be closer to God’s creation, But to come closer to God. John 6:45 have you read the gospel of John? There’s much to learn about life when we are open to hear from Jesus, Word for Word.😊

On the trees that have the bark stripped, what I would do is get some wood glue and paint the trunks. It’s worth a try! Here in Arizona we had a Mesquite tree split in half and we got some black trunk paint and sprayed it on and the tree recovered and enveloped the scar. Don’t give up!

Sending prayers for Emilie’s dad and for the whole family. I do understand what you are going through. I was hospitalized for the most part of 8 months. Wasn’t sure what was going on. I ended up with one stomach surgery. The worst part was I have no memory of most of that time. I lost 70 pounds and I wasn’t able to walk on my own. The point of this is that my factor didn’t think I was going to survive but it’s been 2 years and I’m doing great. Lots of gardening and canning.

Good to hear Emily's dad has improved some. I know something of what your going through,. My mother is trying to recover from the novovirus/ vomiting bug which is rampant here. Shes 97 and it took a lot out of her, but shes not a great patient. As far as she's concerned she should be up and about. Shes a fighter. I love the smell of Alfalfa grass. I use it as a top dressing on my raised beds. and dig it in in spring.

Can you paint the trees with a covering of some sort. In Australia we put steel bands around tree trunks that need protection from possums. Can you pop rivet the tin to the other piece of tin. May god be with Emily’s dad.
