OMG two nights ago I had a dream that hubby took me to Cog Hill Farm to visit. In my dream I was following Holly around on the farm. We went in to the Emu pasture and I met Goldie. She took me to her nest and showed me 2 eggs. I thought to myself that my morphine was giving me extra weird dreams. Well I am glad to see that Goldie has given you all eggs. Now I will pray that they hatch for you.

Emu typically stop laying just before spring. Winter time is emu egg season. It's a relatively small window. But they take about 6 weeks or so to hatch.

Beautiful Emerald Green Eggs. So proud of Goldie. I loved how she was struttin' last week. Sounds like they are similar to Bald Eagles. The male helps the female and sits on the eggs. This will be so interesting. Hopefull you can get a camera out near the eggs, whether it be a trail cam or the camera you had in the royal pigeon coop. So happy Brooke was strong enough to take a walk and spot the Emerald Green Eggs. Awesome job, Jason on cleaning up the barn. Looks really nice. Glad you gave us an update on the daffodils because I was just thinking about them the other day. Thank you so much for sharing this news with us.

The difference is, among eagles the parents switch off setting and hunting for food, and then feeding and tending the young. Among the emu, it's all on the dad. Seahorses do that. I just looked it up, and the male emu may lose half his body weight in the 60 days he devotes to hatching the eggs. And, then spends 18 months raising the young, alone. We live in a diverse world.

Just a suggestion that I would def do is get in touch with Daniel Arms from Arms Family Homestead. Someone gifted his son, Houston an emu egg. They incubated it and it actually hatched. They named it Charlie. I can’t remember who gifted it to them, but Daniel and Houston did everything that you were saying. They weighed it, it was in an incubator, watched the humidity…that was really neat and exciting watching them incubating not only emu eggs, but Muscovy, a few geese, and maybe others. They might be helpful. I can’t wait to see how things go with those eggs.

🤠 when I saw the title, I said emu eggs! When you went to the house for the camera, I said I wanted to see 4. Not sure about emus, but ostriches have communal nests where several hens lay their eggs. With just Goldie, my guess would be 10 to 12 eggs. As you said this is egg-citing!
