We Caught THESE in our Backyard Pond! (Fishing Chaos)

Backyard Pond fishing in the spring, was a success catching a mixed bag of rainbow trout and largemouth bass. Unfortunately this winter we didn't get an ice season so we couldn't catch all of the trout out of our pond that we had stocked in the fall. We decided to cull the trout out of our pond before the warm weather from the summer months arrive, and had a fun day with family friends smashing on some good fish!

Your property is a great place to live! I am watching a well-known CBC documentary, "La Semaine Verte". In this episode, they are talking about Lake Erie. They are saying that Lake Erie now has a problem with nutrient imbalance which is causing too much blue/green algae to grow there. All the Great Lakes have this problem, but they are focusing on Lake Erie on this program.

The winters have indeed become shorter and milder, and the summers longer and hotter. This of course will affect the local ecology in a profound way.

What do you fish all the trout out of the pond?

Yes, I think they eventually do and then re-stock the pond. They had the pond made and then created an environment with it that can support trout and bass.

We clean them, pack them and freeze them to eat later. Unfortunately the water gets to warm in the summer for the trout and they will die. We just get them for the winter.
