Thomas, just ran across your channel, must say I love your outlook on life and the fact that you listen to and follow your gut feelings. As we have all seen, our initial gut reaction to some crazy news is almost always more accurate than the 'experts' who are benefiting from these crazy rules, usually they are benefiting financially it seems. Well not so much going forward....fair winds and following seas.

Congrats on having a good life in lockdown with great company! Must say, your boat really sails well , boatspeed and takes the seas very harmonic! Must be the unicorn effect, if you have one aboard all turbulence disappears in a puff of magic (fluid dynamics 411) 🤪🦄

Thomas, you must have 200-300A 102 switches for connection service starter battery. or extension 90-100mm2 auto start cable,need only 1 cable because negative is already connected
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s already on my list of small upgrades. Never had a situation like this before on BE FREE. All my previous yachts have had this feature from production. Somehow this B55 don’t have it. I would had no trouble sailing in and just drop the anchor though. Been practicing in case of similar situations. But all good 💪🏻 Thnx for your advice🙏🏻 Cheers 🍻

@@SailingwithThomas 1 time hapen like you battery die before 30 year and after always have cable 5 meter in boat or switch 102 . one time i sail in marina Jezera Croatia (lose propeler) newer again. Not problem sail ,problem is stop boat solo. becouse be under stress i forget drop anchor in marina and late colect anchor. wind 10 knots and coming strong bora in night,but never again.
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
Yeah sailing into a marina solo is hard core! And Bora is no joke in the Adriatic Sea😅 I have never sailed into a marina with this boat. Did it many times with previous boats. A 36 foot I had for years sailing in and out of my yacht club without engine onboard. But this is different. Anchorage is zero stress though. Cheers 🍻

I keep a set of "jumper cables" on board (the type to start a car from another car when one's battery is dead) that are long enough to go from the house bank to my starter battery, just in case. I hope I never need them.
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s clever and a good emergency solution. I’m gonna add a switch and make a solution similar to my previous boat had. All the best and thank you for your input and for watching! Cheers 🍻

Hi Thomas! There are a lot of things that doesn't make any sense in this "corona-shit". On the other hand, being trapped i Grenada is not that bad, is it? And "your secret anchorage!!! Man, I definitely can think about a couple of worse places to be on a lockdown! Believe man, I fully understand "your" meaning of "be free" and I thing it's the right choice! Take care and good winds!
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
The beauty of the island and the friendly people are the same. Hopefully this will not last for long! Still love Grenada and it’s people! Being in a marina where the tell you what you can an not is a different story and it was time to leave. Cheers 🍻

@@SailingwithThomas 2 week lockdown should see us on top of this 'Virus' = 18 months ago ? Your doing the right thing - BE FREE ( You couldnt just switch over to the house batteries ?) between 10 & 12 knots NICE.
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
Somehow my boat doesn’t have the features of switching between batteries. I’m for sure gonna arrange something. However I’m not at all worried about sailing into an anchorage alone and drop my anchor alone. Looks like it’s just gonna get worse here in terms of virus and measurements... I love Grenada but if it gets worse might run to another island

What caused the battery malfunction?
@SailingwithThomas2 жыл бұрын
I have not yet found out why. I have had no issues before my 1 month stay in marina on shore power. So I’m checking the power on my alternator and this seems to be correct. I will start up my generator and see how much the 223V chargers kicks in and also a few other things. I’m gonna check the logg on my Victron system as well
@jthompsoniii2 жыл бұрын
@@SailingwithThomas Thank you for the quick response. A working battery will get warm after normal operation, due to engine heat and carrying a charge load. If your battery gets very hot, though, it may indicate that your charging system has some problems. On a weak battery the alternator may be working harder than normal to keep it charged. This constant charging will cause the battery to heat up. A faulty alternator can also cause the battery to heat up as well. An alternator with a bad voltage regulator can lead to overcharging the battery, and may damage both components. Root cause analysis is oddly important me :(

You will not scare the children if you don't wear your mask(s), no one would know there's a plan, imagine a plan so deadly you need a "patent test" to know you have it; once your told you have the plan you need "patent chemical(s)"; also note the corporations with the "plan" will tell you when you can stop using their patents.
