rocio ayala Well, there's still plenty of time left for you to quit. I've never smoked and I don't see the appeal, and I go through a lot of stress too. Especially as I'm getting older, but smoking should never be considered a healthy way out. There are different coping mechanisms that shouldn't mean sacrificing your health and life at your expense. This is just coming from someone who has gone through similar things as you have. (I was cyber bullied VERY badly, too. Although my extreme depression and anxiety stem from different things at this point in my life, such as very tough expectations and drifting relationships due to the stage of life I'm at now) but point is, There is another way out that can be much healthier when dealing with stress and extreme sadness.

I understand this. My dad was a smoker and alcoholic. He died from a severe brain hemorrhage that led to massive bleeding in his brain and I didn't want to let him go. In the past, he wasn't the best man, but I've only focused on the best aspect of him. I slept in the hospital while he was in the ER while I had medical problems on my own, which I had two surgeries for in '17 and '18. I asked him while he was laying in the ICU to nod if he was in pain and he did. I still didn't want to let him go and promised to stay by his side, but my mother wouldn't let me as they removed his breathing tube. After it was out, he continued snoring as if he was only asleep. Although I promised, I couldn't just stand there and watch him die.

I have severe asthma ever since I was about 3. And only just recently I am finally able to take somewhat of "control" of it. Throughout my life, I had to struggle to make sure I will be able to breathe everyday. Medication over medication. Asthma attack after asthma attack. Everyday. And if you dont get what a asthma attack is, its horrifying. Suffocating from your lung muscle tightening because of something triggering it (and it could be triggered by nothing to having strong emotions.) Suffocating, even though there is perfectly good oxygen and air all around you. Asthma is a serious condition, that people make fun of, and I dont understand why no one takes it seriously. And this shows how not taking something seriously and driving into danger (smoking for asthmatics) can be deadly. Looking through some of the comments, they only focus on the "smoking" part and not exactly the asthma condition. It shows how look over the video part that said at the beginning that they didnt take asthma seriously. Asthma is terrifying, and is unpredictable. Some people can actually grow out of it, some people grow into it, or have to live with it, with it becoming less serious to severe any second. (Sorry, had to complain about how horrible asthma is. It's not the worst condition, but still is horrible.)

I don't have asthma, but I agree and I understand how people don't take my own (mental) disease seriously. I hate it when people use depression as a joke and to tease others. People are so unkind and don't get what we're really going through.
@lyson_rose5 жыл бұрын
@@UnknownUser-fj1cg Yeah. Especially with how mental illnesses are extremely misunderstood. Unlike physical disabilities and disorders, people can't see it as a health problem. They see anxiety and depression as nervousness and sadness, that everyone has it. That mental illnesses aren't just a emotion, a mood. It's a disorder that affects a person's life, making it difficult to even get out of bed. And yet people see it as lazy and overdramatic. It's so hurtful and degrading.

I saw a pretty interesting quote that kind of relates to a part of the story The time you spend grieving them does not equate to the time you spent loving them Grief is confusing, and if the person is reading this do not dare feel guilty for being envious of your family. My grandfather recently passed from cancer- my family is South Korean and my grandparents lived in Korea until early this year when they moved to NY (where my aunt lives) to receive treatment for his cancer (and his want to be in the same country as his children as he significantly got weaker over the course of half a year). I relate to this girl in the sense that- I didn't have many memories with him; South Korea is pretty far from America and ticket prices aren't the cheapest. When he was hospital-ridden, it was during my mid-term/final weeks (my uni isn't a semester system so 5 weeks basically blend into a testing term) as my grandfather was consistently telling my family that he felt it was the end, I spent 4 weekends flying back and forth with my parents and brother- and I was exhausted- almost upset that I had to "waste" my weekend flying and staying at the hospital- I'd literally count the hours to my back home flight because I was anxious about my papers and tests. One weekend, I had to return earlier than the rest of my family because of an exam on Monday - I paid my farewells and left... and he passed right after my exam. I don't think I've ever regretted such a long period of time in my life. I regret studying and doing homework rather than spending time in his hospital room talking to him when he was awake. I regret that I was so reluctant to fly to him to spend some last moments with him. I regret so much. While I know that my story is different to hers, the feeling of not having enough memories and being sad but not devastated compared to those around me made hit me harder than I thought it would... at the funeral when we said our last farewells to my grandfather, while others spent minutes and minutes talking to him, all I could do was look at his pale, lifeless body and whisper "sorry" while shedding tears not because I missed him but I realized then that I had been a despicable, selfish grand daughter who never took her opportunities to create memories with her grandfather because all I could see were my grades and the fact I was already facing a anxious period in my life due to my courses. TL;DR: Try to spend time with people that are close to you as much as you can so you wont have any regrets... instead of "I wish..." or "I'm sorry that I couldn't..." you should aim to be able to say "Thank you" or "I'm glad..." if anything were to happen... sorry for the rant and have a great day ^^

I know how you feel. My great grandmother passed away and I loved her so much but we always fought and I would always ignore her when we did. When I find out she was diagnosed with liver failure I was hoping that she’ll get better. My grandma took her to the hospital, that same day and she was fine when she was in the car waving at us. When we got the call that night when she passed away, I kept blaming myself. I wasn't doing well in school, and I got depressed to the point that I skipped school as well. It's been over 5 years that she passed and I thought the same thing that you were thinking with your sister

because it is unrealistic. thats not how real hospitals treat patients. no hospital is going to just let you die if you cant afford to pay them. they will usually set up a payment plan that you can afford or they will render services free of charge. people in the medical profession take an oath that says they will help people regardless of their ability to pay. not that this forces them to take care of people or anything. what does, are the rules of the medical center that they work for. and no hospital will turn you away just because you cannot pay. its just not how american hospitals work
